I'd agree. The Carfection team keep setting the standard through innovative storytelling and compelling visual presentation - such as this walking scene. Very, very well done.

I think Henry and Chris would make a great team. Serious in depth car and driving knowledge, tinged with humour.
I'm in the business of Audi Sales and one of our clients has 2 of the V10 R8's. He drives them all year, road trips, blizzards and more. Up into Canada and Mankato, living in one of the harshest winter states there is (South Dakota) having -40f winters with 60mph winds. 110f scorching summers. Torrential rains in spring. He's used them in all sorts of weather that people hide their cars from. The Audi wrestles all these seasons and laughs in the face of the "yeah, I keep my Quattro garaged all winter". This is aside from the fact he has it sent across seas to drive it on tracks as well.
The world needs more R8's, they truly are the world's best DD supercar, and the looks/performance speak for themselves.
I loved using my 1st Gen R8 4.2L w/ 6MT as a daily driver, it's the perfect balance of everything and you can get it serviced at your local Audi dealer!
Totally agree, the R8 will be the next car Iam looking into. It willl be the 2016-2019 model, they really screwed up the design with the fake plastic vents on this update and also added the ppf.

Agreed - I think it is because they know it is at the end of the line and next gen will most likely be Hybrid and a completely new platform. Also very often Audi has stepped into to the problem of creating something nearly perfect with not much room for improvement unless revising everything. And I must say that the rear is looking dated now - its a flat shape with no depth at all - considering what happens in automotive exterior dynamic shapery at the moment they need to go more bold with the top model - Audis own E-Tron GT shows the way. But still this is as you say the Top Model and for that, it is somehow a disappointing update.

I never expected them to cheapen out this model. I'd be embarrassed (around other supercar owners) to own it. Factory installed AutoZone "vents?!" What?

I don't think this one will be the future classic. If any R8 will become a future classic, it's going to be the first generation.

@@shivekr4823 you don't really need to in my opinion, the old one is still pretty fast. Want more, you could always supercharge. Personally I try to enjoy the feel of a car under my control, dance with it if you will. It only needs enough power for the chassis for it to be fun. My Leon Cupra 290 for example is almost perfect with it's engine/chassis combo. More power wouldn't improve the experience. Conversely I test drove a Civic type R and felt it could use another 50hp to make it more engaging since it was practically too composed. In the end I believe the car needs to be experienced before thinking it needs more power.
@@KXP70 yeah, old one is plenty fast. I just like the higher revs and output of this gen. It's a high revving n/a v10 - the last of its kind, so for me, I like the ultimate definition of that concept (but the old car's manual transmission and steering)

I agree about the fake vents Henry. You compared it to the Type R in the beginning and that also has fake vents. I'd prefer the Huracan over the fake vent Audi.
Huracan also have fake vents. Every supercar have those couse it's drag efficiency.

I'm sure it's still an amazing car, but Audi seems really insistent on increasingly ruining the stunning curvy looks their cars use to have with unnecessary angles. Those fake vents really bring the car down, shame I was just getting use to the R8's updated non-curvy angular look. Great review as alway Henry, thank you!

Please pass my compliments to George for his excellent cinematography! The car mounting locations, the drone shots and the editing was fantastic! Just the aspect ratio changes to illustrate the dynamic "checkered flag" mode was genius. I really "felt" the performance increase. This video makes me really excited about the 2022 V10 Performance Coupe that I have on order. It's going to be a long wait!
The production value of the videos you're producing these days is incredible; as good as anything you'd see in a film. Henry's commentary is first class; I'm left feeling like I've driven the car myself

I thought exactly the same thing about the front end that you mentioned in the video. It was kind of a relief that you mentioned that as well and that I'm not the only one.

That glasses bit was the smoothest placing of eye glasses to a face that I've ever seen, coupled with the incredible one shot seconds later. Carfection's production is second to none.

@@basithph8958 I am absolutely sickened by how hard it is to find manual, naturally aspirated, RWD cars these days, it's basically just mx5, 86, GT3T, Caterhams, and I actually can't think of any more! This is one of the reasons car enthusiasts are buying used, which ironically makes the situation worse.

“It’s still a marathon” - I understood everything when he said that.
Dont get me wrong, i love the v10 engine, everything about it. But would it be cool if audi put twin turbo v8 in it, an engine similar like lambo urus, or future rs6 and rs7? That would make it even more everyday supercar. If you put it this way, why is the 911 turbo known as everyday supercar? Because its discrete, it has inline 6 twin turbo, which is rather silent and goes under the radar. Also, when you take into consideration that there is exists a lambo huracan which is from same family (but obviously a lot more expensive that r8 v10), wouldnt a r8 v8 twin turbo fill the right gap? Imagine a choice between r8 v10 and r8 v8, both of them on the market.
Minor correction: All Porsche 911 have a 6 cylinder boxer, not inline 6. Have a great day ;)

I would be sad to know in the audi-group that they cant build a car too fast so they challenge the hurracan or the gt3 rs.. like a beast with chains.
