    If I was given an Audi R8 for a week, I would leave the country and my wife, get on the next ferry to the South of France and live the dream driving this car for as long as I possibly could. To cover my tracks and remain elusive from the police, I would grow a long beard and change my name from Smith to Pierre ( Job done) 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

    I recently had my RS4 in with Audi for a bit of work and I was given an A7 to use. I kid you not, I went from London to Leicester and back - purposely cruising to get max mileage Top Gear challenge style - I managed 70 mpg. Absolutely loved that !
    Back in my RS4 now ... much more fun - but you can forget 70 mpg !

    I drive a 2017 as a daily, comfort and seating on long journeys never been a problem at all. That bag should go behind the seats. Lack of pops and crackles on this face lift model is down to recent emissions legislation requiring modifications to exhaust

    Another excellent video Ped. The R8 has been my favourite daily supercar since it came out in 2007. The only thing I am not sure about on the latest Audis is the 3 slots they have just below the bonnet. Always looks to me like some body trim has fallen off and exposed some gaps. Cannot fault that glorious V10 soundtrack or performance though! Your positive and real review is a pleasure to watch. Keep doing just what you are doing Ped 👍👌😎 Peace and respect Ben

    Settling in for our Saturday morning Ped and it always makes me laugh when you get that shit eating grin on your face and my husband laughs, as if to say, I know exactly how you feel!! I'm sure you are living the life that he would love. I do have one observation - is that a CD player in the centre rear, behind the seats? Additional observation is when you had the arm rest up for your drink bottle it actually covers what I believe is the CD player. Who uses a CD player, why aren't these optional anymore. Anyway, as always we enjoyed our Saturday morning once again here in Australia.

    Great video, really sums the R8 up. The eyewatering petrol price from Stafford services are now standard pump prices at the end of 2021, which when all three of your cars run on Super, is painful. I also have an R8 on order, so more expensive fuel - But your video makes me think it will be well worthwhile :-). I also think we live near, Im in Bognor Regis, and I recognise the roads you are on

  • @jezpink4391
    @jezpink4391 5 лет назад +1

    The R8 is an epic supercar and is getting better value for used examples. It’s performance is suited best to derestricted roads and it’s too easy to pick up points in Blighty. Your TTRS roadster review and the fact that you went for a TTS back in the day made me think again about a similar car I was going to buy. If you can’t afford an R8, and many can’t, the TTRS isn’t a bad substitute. No wonder it’s sometimes called a baby R8! The new Sport versions are silly money though, but a good pre-facelift MK3 is looking good value. Keep up the great films. I’m intrigued on what your meeting might bring to the channel down the line. After 280 miles the range was 278 miles and the trip computer was showing 53.9 mpg.That is a potential 558 miles for a full tank. Not bad for a 1.4 Litre turbo 150 bhp petrol 6 speed automatic.

    Excellent first impressions of the R8 V10.👍👍👍 Fell for the R8 when first introduced with the V8 engine, a classic at the time, and a very useable road car, subject to the comments you have noted. Whilst not in the Super Car category my 911 Carrera 4 S does provide more than adequate stowage space, very useable as a daily driver, 4WD, and 414bhp more than adequate for road use. 🤗🤗 Await you full review with added interest.

    One gets the impression you didn’t really try getting that bag in the front ;)
    I’ve had some time in one of these... it looked like it woulda fit to me ;)
    One benefit to the cayman/911’s is the front boot is actually more useful than this!
    It’s actually amazing how Audi manage to have so little space in this thing when Porsche find more boot space in a mid engine car and a whole set of extra seats in a rear engined car.
    Genuinely the piss poor luggage capacity was the main reason I took the r8 out of the equation when I was considering a play thing!

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  5 лет назад

      As I said in the video, if I removed my crash helmet and jiggled things around it would have fitted. As I had no passenger I didn’t bother. Front luggage space is compromised by the four wheel drive going to the front wheels 😥

    Epic Peter and I'd have one in my garage tomorrow - looking forward to the next R8 video!!! Incidentally, I think and if memory serves correctly, if you turn right out of Oulton Park along that country road, you eventually come to a sort of diagonal crossroads (across a main road) and there's a garage on that junction?!!! Motorway Services are a complete rip off whether it's a coffee, food or fuel - and the price you paid is obscene - somebody, somewhere should really tackle it - love to know the justification for excessive charges for everything!!! Keep up the great work mate!!!!

      The Aston is a quick Ford. Get a roof-rack or a small trailer or get your "man" to follow in a support vehicle. I think you're finding reasons not to buy from our German friends (I can think of one good reason).

    • @rogerpreece7762
      @rogerpreece7762 5 лет назад

      @@robertlangham2356
      Hi Robert..... Not quite sure whether you are being totally serious with your reply...???
      Get a roof rack for an R8 or get someone to follow you with your luggage. ???
      NOT a terribly practical solution and as regards Aston being nothing more than a fast Ford.... I am a bit puzzled as the engine and drivetrain are clearly sourced from AMG Mercedes and then tweaked by Aston.
      Some people say that the Aston doesn't have Mercs latest infotainment system but I for one actually prefer the system they have and I like the tactile finish of buttons.
      Thought for you with touch screen systems the screens wear out if you use one function continually.
      Also..... See what happens when you pull up to a junction in an R8 or an Aston.
      R8..... people think you are a flash cock who cant afford a Lamborghini...... ( speaking as an ex Lamborghini owner!!! )
      Aston..... people will smile at you, think you are James Bond and wave you in AHEAD of them so they can look at the car and admire it.
      I am ex professional Bike Racer so I am not completely stupid!
      To recap.
      Aston..... seats better
      More practical if you are actually planning on using it for going away and using it.
      Audi..... better engine.But its actually a very large and wide car and a bit more tricky on narrower A and B roads.
      Audi cabin, interior I agree is a beautiful environment.
      But park an R8 next to the new Vantage in a Pub car park and see how many people want to look at the Audi rather than the Aston.
      My money is on the Aston every time.
      And just look at the Aston. Stuff of dreams matey.

    Nail on the head Ped re driving a nice and powerful car in this country (as I have, quite a few...). Whats the point anymore ? If the rozzers dont get you the potholes will...!! Stunning looking car though and great review. As for motorway service stations...may a thousand red ants crawl up the rear ends of the profiteers...a numb-er bum than driving an R8 for 4 hours...!

    Great video love your comments and reflections on so many great cars. Which of the super cars is the easiest to drive or for an average driver, many say the R8 even over the 992, or perhaps the M5 but as you have driven most what is your considered opinion? Many thanks and keep the reports coming in!

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  2 года назад +1

      All modern supercars are easy to drive at normal speeds. It’s when you start pushing on things get interesting. 4 wheel drive helps a lot so the R8 would be right up there 👍

    Sad to think kids today will never see the launch of a 4 door luxury car with a F1 derived V10 in it like the e60 M5. Those days are dead. Mpg on this r8 proves why the V10 is dropped in most cases. Is the R8 a good car? Absolutely. Is it worth its price tag? Absolutely not. Would I buy a second hand one over a Lamborghini? Probably not. It's a supercar in the same way the BMW i8 is. It kinda is but sort of isnt either.
