    Real corn tortillas don't have flour. Flour is not necessary to make corn tortillas. They've been doing them without flour in Mexico for hundreds a years. It will also change the taste. What kind of a tortilla is this? U can't decide if you taste corn or flour. The confusion😕

    Hi Rosanna and Nelson! Tried the corn tortillas. But unfortunately I used the wrong corn flour! It was confusing on the Bobs Red Mill pkg because there was a recipe for corn tortillas so I figured it would work, although the package did not say instant corn masa. They were tough and didn’t puff up….mostly the toughness was disappointing. I’ve got the right flour coming from amazon tomorrow…will try again. I know your recipe will work this time around cuz you’re a great teacher. Love your videos!!

      You could actually leave the all purpose flour out and adjust the water amount (less). Also, when it comes to Instant corn masa flour (harina) , make sure it is gluten free as some brands may manufacture their products in the same place as other wheat product. Hope this is helpful.

    *one-and-a-half cups and one tablespoon of water*
    I hear that all the time, but 1 tbsp is only 4% more water and how any two people measure flour by volume can vary much more. I assume that is more tradition than precision.

    Question - Do you add warm water or water at ambient temperature?

      You can do both. Depending on the temperature of the water it may take less (warm) or more (cooler).

    Looking for a gluten free recipe. I can substitute gluten free flour for the all purpose flour, but that will change the texture.

    Do you only use lard/butter when making flour tortillas? No butter needed for corn tortillas?

      @VillaCocina  2 года назад +1

      No butter needed on corn tortillas. It’s the way we make them in Mexico. ☺️
