Steph I have been making your tortilla recipe since the 5lb recipe came out 😊
I make them about every 2-3 months I hand them out to family and friends who love them. They are always so surprised at how soft they are after they pull them out the freezer. They don't stick together at all makes it easy to just grab 1 at a time. Sending you ladies loves & hugs from Texas.

I have never in my life tried to make my own tortillas from scratch, until watching this video. I do have some baking experience, just no experience with making tortillas. As a 53y.o. man I struggled with this. All the while telling myself that at the end of the process I will be wiser and more knowledgeable for my effort. I used butter instead of lard. In the future I may try to use lard so that I have a frame of reference for comparison. Before making the small dough balls I weighed the large ball of dough, so that I knew roughly how to evenly split it up into equal parts. I had roughly 653g of dough so I broke it into roughly equal parts of 65g, or 10 smaller balls. If I make them again I might aim for somewhere between 70-75g for a 12" tortilla. My tortillas ended up closer to 10 inches. the extra 5-10g of dough I believe would have helped in making the tortillas a bit larger. Overall, I consider this a success even though I struggled. I learned a lot from my experience and moving forward I have the benefit of what I learned along the way. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us all in this wonderful video. 🙂

I do not have the lard, but i do have unsalted butter. You expressed we can use butter. I hope that they will be just as great??? I wish my sweet husband was still here with me to help enjoy this meal..or just be the rock for me as he used to be. One day I will see him again...thanks to a change of heart..he became a christian before he passed away..So, in short..this recipe is dedicated to my man.."Biker Bob"!!! Thank you for sharing...Jody

Unfortunately, many people believe that all Spanish speaking people know how to make each others food. In my world, a tortilla was always an omelette with potatoes. Now I have a great place to send my friends to learn about Mexican food in a knowledgeable and kind way. I love flour tortillas, so it will be nice to try making them at home. As my grandmother always used to say, "Hija, hay que rezar." All the best for your journey. 💛

So I ended up putting the dough in the stand mixer and gradually adding about half a cup of flour until the dough passed the window pane test and was smooth with a little bit of tackiness. (about 5 minutes in the mixer) I crossed my fingers hoping for the best as it rested. The dough turned out great. Super soft, pliable, thin ,and flavor was on point! I love you’re tortilla recipes. I made these tortillas for the first time today. I have attempted four tortillas once before and they were hard as a rock! This recipe made soft, really thin perfect tortillas!!! I was unsure if I would make them like you did. THEY ARE AWESOME!! Thank you so much for not only giving the recipe, but the tips made all the difference! Again, thank you!!! I can't wait to make them again

Greetings from Texas, thanks for acknowledging your male audience too. I'm new to your channel and love your content it brings back so many memories of when I was growing up eating all the wonderful comfort foods that my mom would make. Keep up the good work and great recipes, I will be making these tortillas (attempting to) because I never make soft tortillas. Que Dios te bendiga e Cloud e Familia.

Hi 👋 I’ve been following you for about 2 years now and I absolutely love you and appreciate you sharing your knowledge and skills with everyone. I adore your recipe’s authenticity and have made a few . Today is my first time I’ll be trying to make these flour tortillas and I have a couple of questions. 1-Can I make them with crisco butter flavor lard?
2-Can I leave them out in a basket and if so how long would they last before getting spoiled?

My mom made homemade tortillas for seven kids plus dad! She would stretch out 3 dozen or so every day for supper. I refuse to eat at any Mexican restaurant that doesn’t make their own tortillas in-house!

Just started making tortillas. I’ve watched other vids to see how others make them. A couple of them said to get the comal or skillet really hot and one even said “screaming hot”. Now I know why mine are crispy. Thank you.

I can't thank you enough for this recipe, I traveled 30 mins just to get Morrell lard because I wanted to get these right for my Texan husband and he is THRILLED with the tortillas I made with this recipe. We live in Florida and can't get any good food lol I'd only made tortillas once or twice before and they just weren't right. Also a side note, while he's a grateful man, it's hard to impress my husband with food which keeps me on my toes since feeding people is my love language. So it means so much to me when he was just blown away by these, he says "well we don't have to buy tortillas anymore!" Thank you, thank you, thank you !God bless!

This is mom's exact recipe, that she's been doing her entire life and they are the best tortillas ever. The only problem we have is that they don't reheat well, they almost get stiff and are not good anymore, so everytime she makes them they're fresh. I wonder what she is doing different so that we can't have some prepped already and just reheat them.

Hello, I wanted to make flour tortillas from scratch so I watched a lot of videos and ultimately went with your because I liked what they looked like after being cooked. I laughed when I looked at my current container of lard and it was Armour. When I use someones recipe I try to use the same brand of most of the ingredients. The main thing was to find Morrell lard. I luckily found it. Before making the tortillas, I made a batch of refried beans. I used the Morrell lard this time instead of the other one I already had. The beans were the best I ever made and the only difference was the lard. They were so creamy and didnt have a weird taste that Armour gives it. We made tortillas later that night. We make smaller sized ones than you did here but they were very good. I am sure each time we make them they will keep getting better.
Thank you for the nice video!
