I have never I mean never posted a comment on websites but I have to give credit where credit is due. I have been married 19 years and cook everything and anything even different cultural cuisines.BUT… my kryptonite were always flour tortillas. They were apple shaped heart, square, you name it I stretched it out in that shape. Anything but circular. In addition to the shape the taste was kind of blah. I have watched and tried dozens of recipes. This one however, is hands down on point in taste, texture, shape, everything! I take my hat off to you sweet ladies you simply nailed the instruction.
I laughed way to much at cloud saying in my bed. I'm tired 😂 I've been making tortillas every sunday just to master it eventually. My husband loves homemade anything.
I've been making tortillas since I was a young teenager 12 , or 13? My grandmother was from Sonora Mexico, she would strech her tortillas by hand & make extra large tortillas de papel. Watching you giving, amazing tips, and your technique is on spot. Brings back memories of my mama, and nana ❤️ love watching your videos. Thank you sisters Steph & Cloud Y que viva Sonora Mexico!!
lol, the 3 times thing is accurate. I've just started delving into making homemade tortillas. So far I've only done the Masa route. But i failed the 1st two times i tried to make the dough and didn't get it until the 3rd time. They were so good. It's amazing how far a little effort AND patience will get you. Thank you for the video, glad i found your channel.
Thank you for this! This brought back memories of making tortillas with my grandmother. She made it seem to easy and would laugh as I rolled mine out in the shape of Florida...or TX. Then she's fix them for me and tell me, "it just takes practice, mija!" I've been afraid to try making them but this video, and your kind words have me ready to do it! I rendered my own lard...I should put it to use!

Steph & Cloud, I’m a “gringa” as my dear friends south of the border would call me, mostly teasing of course as some of my very dear Latin friends feel that the word “gringa & gringo” is not a nice word to call others.😂 A very dear & wonderful loving Mexican lady I met almost 30 yrs ago in my late 20’s when I used to visit a little town in South Texas called “San Benito”, some 30 miles north of Brownsville, Texas taught me how to make so many of the same & similar recipes you have shared on your channel! My dear wonderful & loving Mexican friend that raised her family in San Benito, Texas spoke very few words in English & I knew very few words of Spanish. As I watch your videos they bring tears of joy remembering some of the most wonderful memories of my life & of South Texas & my dear, dear wonderful friend “Catarina”. RIP. I’ve met very few people as loving & kind as my Mexican friend Catarina. She was much more than a loving wonderful friend, she was more like a mother, a grandmother, & best friend! I will never forget her, nor her Mexican culture she introduced me too & all of her wonderful delicious Mexican food! I will always remember & love her forever! Thank you Steph & Cloud for sharing your wonderful Mexican culture!❤️❤️❤️ You mentioned “Georgie” & 90 day finance .....Arent you talking about “Darcy & Stacy” program that’s a spin-off of 90 days Finace? Georgi w the pony-tail?😂 Love your channel so very much & all your recipes!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😘

I’ve watched this three times already and I’m going to watch it a fourth time today while making these for the first time. You’re great teachers, and I’ve learned so many skills and techniques from you!
Omg, first time I've seen you.😍 I haven't made tortillas in so many years! Never rolled them out before. Your's are beautiful! Prayer for your hands!🙏 calcium, magnesium, zinc, slows, or reverses arthritis. Stops the hyperactive immune system from attacking the body! Love that you love mother earth! ❤
I found this video randomly last night just before going to bed. Watched the entire thing, including the silly bloops at the end :), then I laid awake for a long time thinking about your technique. I haven't seen anyone make tortillas in front of me for about 35 years, since my mom died. Everything you did was like watching her hands move in the kitchen, careful but knowing. I never learned to make tortillas from scratch because she had always been there to do it. I just sat nearby with soft butter and waited to eat them as they were cooked! Your video really warmed my heart, and I thank you for that. It was even greater to see that you are Denver girls, like me! I felt my mother's spirit and love watching this, and while I've never, not once, been able to master a decent tortilla, I am going to try them again, taking my time the way you did, and hopefully getting them right (or close) at last.
I can relate to that. I remember being in my early teens and watching my mom make tortillas and as soon as she made one I'd grab it and slather butter on it and maybe a shake of salt, eat it and the next one I'd change it up and smear ketchup or mustard on it until she got mad because she was making them and they'd disappear as soon as she made them so the basket was empty. All I can do now is buy them in the store but they're nowhere the same AND they're becoming more expensive.
Who in the French toast gave this video a thumbs down! I mean I'm a Brother and love and respect the Latina, Hispanic and Mexican cultures and I have to say that this recipe is definitely the best in detail on the web I've ever seen for sure. 💯👌🏾
Thanks for this video. My husband was born in Texas but his mom was from Mexico and he talks all the time about her homemade tortillas. I will be trying these and hope he will be impressed.

@@greysonvoutsas6969 I did, yes. I live in Germany, the butter they have here is unsalted by default and tastes pretty bland. If your go to butter is salted, maybe its best to cut back a bit on the recommended salt amount and taste the dough after you incorporate the butter, then adjust salt to taste :)

Hi Stephanie! I made your tortillas today and I love the way they came out. I did the recipe as instructed and I live in Modesto, Calif and I had to use 4 and 3/4 cups of water instead of 2 and 3/4 c of water and I needed to knead a lot. Never the less they came out great and I loved the texture. Thank you they came out better than my mom's.

My friend made her own tortillas and I enjoyed watching her. She had a little "stick" that she rolled them out with. They were always perfectly round. Then she cooked them on the comal. They were like clouds. I could never master making tortillas. The best part was the egg and chorizo that she filled them with.

This! This is the best tortilla video I've found so far. My husband is half Mexican and I’m full Colombian so we were looking for some fun ways to keep our culture alive with our future kids. Learning how to make tortillas this way is perfect!! Thank you so much!! Literally at 18:40 when you mention the roundness of the tortillas brought me back to making Arepas for my Colombian family lol they were never round and my mom would explain to the whole family that it was because I suffered from anxiety lol love you ladies thank you for the great video!
That's what I like to hear. Be proud of your heritage and customs. I still practise what my mother taught me and my husband loves it.
I just did these right now and they came out PERFECT!
First time in my life I ever made a legit tortilla!! I failed so many times!
Your description over every little technique was on point 💯 Thank you!!!
I didn’t know that making tortillas was such a beautiful experience. Thank you so much. I love the traditions of many cultures.💐💖
Great advice
What's your site?
Hi Shara, do you have Vikings in your ancestry?
@@Research0digo I don’t think so
We need to learn how to make those frijoles they look amazing. I grew up eating frijoles with cheese in a fresh tortilla. Can’t beat it
Love her video! “Take care of your hands.” So sweet and thoughtful!
I absolutely adore this channel. Y’all are so entertaining, and humble to keep traditions alive. Blessings to you both and your families. 🙏🥰
Thank you, first time in your channel, my tortillas turned out perfectly. I watched 2x then weighed out your measurements and made as the video was playing....it was stunning.....(from South Africa). Thank you again for this video....
I made them today for the first time and my husband and daughter where amazed 😍 💕 thank you so much for this
I'm proud of you! Happy Holiday season, Steph 💕
Can you show measurements coz i can't do it that way
@@Viewsontheroad Merry Christmas 🎅 and Have a Happy New Year
This is the first video I’ve seen from y’all. And I loved it. The way you encourage people to not be scared of doing it their way is awesome. I have officially subscribed
This video changed my life. I made my first successful flour tortillas this evening.
I laughed way to much at cloud saying in my bed. I'm tired 😂 I've been making tortillas every sunday just to master it eventually. My husband loves homemade anything.
Yes. That was funny. I was laying bed watching and had to go back and double check that she did say in my bed.
Agreed.
Lmao. The look after she said it “okaaay”. 🤣🤣🤣
Good thing he cooks, right?
I've been making tortillas since I was a young teenager 12 , or 13? My grandmother was from Sonora Mexico, she would strech her tortillas by hand & make extra large tortillas de papel. Watching you giving, amazing tips, and your technique is on spot. Brings back memories of my mama, and nana ❤️ love watching your videos. Thank you sisters Steph & Cloud
Y que viva Sonora Mexico!!
lol, the 3 times thing is accurate.
❤❤❤ love your videos . Not Mexican, we don’t eat tortillas in South America, but born n raised in SoCal we embrace and love Mexican cultura & food! Making this !! Thank you !!
I’m getting ready for my wedding right now and binge watching your videos . Something about your guys channel makes me feel so calm and like my family is here ❤️❤️❤️ thank you guys for being apart of my big day 👰🏻 sending love from Texas🤍✨
This is the best video I’ve ever seen on homemade tortillas and believe me I have watched dozens of videos and suggestions and by far you have given the best tips so thank you for sharing your talents with us all. God bless you always!
Omg!!! These tortillas came out so good. My boy is in love! He said I can no longer buy grocery store tortillas. I think I've got my self in some trouble. 🤭 thank you so much for all your hard work and time sharing these awesome recipes with us. God bless you and your family. ❤❤
I did it! I really finally did it! The pinching the edges and the palm it was all so well presented.
Big hugs going out to you and sister!!
Yay! I’m so proud of you amigo! You did it! 😁 Keep practicing 💛 Steph
I am a Hispanic student currently living in Korea. I really want to make the best tortillas for my boyfriend who has never tried them before! Thanks for the recipe and tips, I will try to do you proud!!
I love when you mention these are authen Sonoran style tortillas. In New Mexico, our flour tortillas are thicker/fluffier. Neither right or wrong. Just different yet yummy!
I just recently learned that my ancestors came from Sonora! I'm so honored to learn your technique. Thank you so much!
@@janetownley I was raised on flour tortillas. We hardly ever had corn tortillas at home and I’m Mexican.
@@janetownley I thought it depends on what u had .if u had corn u made corn tortillas if u had white u made flour.
@@janetownley oh my... yes we do eat flour tortillas all the time.. infact i know mexican families that don't eat corn ones.. isn't that weird.. it depends where you come from.. some parts of México its impossible to grow corn that it is easier to stick with flour than corn.
How do you make burrito wraps like for large burritos. I love the big burritos that the street vendors in California make. I can make the fillings very well but not the wraps. They always fall apart???????
I just recently learned that my ancestors came from Sonora! I'm so honored to learn your technique. Thank you so much!
I love you! Most of my family are with god and this makes me feel like I am in the kitchen with them. I love your family keep making more food and keep sharing.
I've been making tortillas with my mom since I was a boy. I've taught my daughters and granddaughter too. I watched your other video about a year ago and have stuck to your no baking powder recipe. I dig your other vids and recipes. Keep them coming.
Roger
Love it! ❤
My first batch came out AMAZING, thanks to your awesome recipe, directions and tips. I also appreciate the positive vibe and willingness to share your culture. I'll definitely keep watching
I have enjoyed watching anyone cook as much as I did you! Your amazing cook!!
Thank you so much!!! I made homemade tortillas for the first time ever on my own and my entire family LOVED them!!!! ❤️
You both are so amazing and I feel like I am cooking with family! You are so caring about your View’s Family and our overall health. 🥰 This means so much to me because it has been lonely cooking without my extended family over the holidays due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
I look forward to attempting the Pupusas recipe this upcoming week! I am Mexican-American and am excited to learn different recipes outside of the traditional Mexican cuisine my mom taught me. I am definitely getting my bearings in the kitchen and I feel so proud and confident to practice my skills with y’all’s amazing recipes!!!!
Georgi w the pony-tail?😂
Love your channel so very much & all your recipes!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😘
Aww so sweet . I’m from Brownsville 💓💓
❤this!! You are so right. The first step to learning is listening. Like learning a new language. Thank you for sharing the language of cooking tortillas. Brings back memories of home so many years ago.😊
ok, my new life motto is Dont Compare Your Tortillas To Anyone Else.
I’ve watched this three times already and I’m going to watch it a fourth time today while making these for the first time. You’re great teachers, and I’ve learned so many skills and techniques from you!
How did they turn out?
How did they come out?
I’ve found using crisco oil works amazing! Thx for all your hard work ladies best wishes to you and your family 🖤
To long lol u make it look hard but ur good
This recipe was so easy to follow. This was the first time I ever made my own tortillas and they came out amazing. Thank you.
I wish you were my sisters!! I love your recipes and personalities!! My great-grandmother actually had her own Tortilla in San Pedro, CA in the 50's. Wish I could have soaked up their traditions, cooking, all of it!!
Just made these and while my hands and arms are aching, I finally did it! So thankful for your wonderful guidance and instruction! ❤️
I love how you give us different ways to do things, I have a badly shattered left arm that limits my ability to knead and roll things. Thank you for thinking about us broken folks! 💕
Sorry to hear that. We are here to help and cook with our friends and fam. Let me link the stand mixer recipe you might find tips in that one to help you through the aches and pains I know well. Love + light, Steph 💕ruclips.net/video/8CmhEqM8PgY/видео.html
RUclips put your video in my to watch. Wow you are an accomplished lady. I’m going to watch this a few more times before attempting. I started cooking and baking at six years old and I’m now 70. I’d rather make my own than store bought. You are an inspiration. Thank you so much, many blessings to you and yours.
Yum... This is the first time I've tried to make tortillas in 40 yrs... These were good with bbq pork. Thanks you helped me a lot.
“Drop it like it’s hat hat haaaat”
I love your outtakes!!! It makes me feel like I’m with you more than just recipe, no talking, and done haha. I’ve watched this 3 times and am gonna cook them tomorrow!!!
I will never EVER watch another video about tortillas again. This is it. Here is where I am staying. Even if I have to watch it over and over again. Thank you. I do appreciate you so much. Your kindness and energy. Also calling us babies. Thank you. Sending love from ATL.
I made these tortillas today (used butter cause I didn't have lard) and they turned out amazing. your technique was delightful. thank you so, SO much for generously sharing that precious knowledge ♥
How long did this recipe take you from start to finish?
Thank you, I was looking for a lard sub.
Do you remember if you used unsalted butter?
@@greysonvoutsas6969 I did, yes. I live in Germany, the butter they have here is unsalted by default and tastes pretty bland. If your go to butter is salted, maybe its best to cut back a bit on the recommended salt amount and taste the dough after you incorporate the butter, then adjust salt to taste :)
How much butter did you use?
Hi beautiful ladies! I was raised in South Texas and our “ Tex-Mex” flour tortilla recipe calls for baking powder. However, I have carpal tunnel and your recipe makes the process a lot more manageable for me.😊Thank you I truly have incorporated a lot of your tips and recipes and “ made them comfortable for my home”👍🏼😀
Yes!! Gotta have my Clabber Girl out when I make tortillas
I have finally mastered your tortilla (flour and corn) recipes. Now I am teaching my 15 year old nephew. He loves to cook and asked to learn this. He was born south of Mexico but raised in our Irish Catholic family here in the states. I have had to study and learn traditional foods to teach him. It has been a joy.
I’ve made these three times now and I’m finally getting it down. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this delicious, perfect recipe!!! My daughter’s favorite food. ❤️

I can't wait to try your recipe out! I come from a family where everyone is competitive with their tortillas...but they always taste dried out. I'm gonna blow them away with this one😂😂😂😂 Thank you for always sharing awesome recipes!!😊👌
Let us know how your tortillas came out!
How did it go, Michelle?
@@aerynea the turnout was great! The dough was so much easier to work with, and when shaping the tortillas it was manageable with no issues of tearing. Despite the scare I had with Covid, I made it out alive, and am happy to say I'm back in my kitchen, still using this wonderful recipe making tortillas for my family "6 dozens a day to be exact" 🤣🤣🤣 They were blown away!!😎👌💖🙏
I have to tell you that I followed your teaching and to my surprise....I have a stack of tortillas, they aren't as round as yours...but that's okay...I'm so pleased...couldn't have done it without your help....thank you so much....I will enjoy every one of them...Jan
It’s been a year and I’m still coming back to take a class with you ladies. My recipe has changed and adapted, but the core skills you taught me are still with me. Thank you so much ladies!
You’re the tortilla whisperer.
Lol very true!
Hahahhaha
Hahaha good one! 😂
Tonight was my 2nd run for the tortillas... I served them warm from a kitchen towel...huge thanks.
They look absolutely perfect 💗those tortillas are so soft thank you for sharing your amazing recipe and grandmas secret tip❤️😍Great video beautiful amigas ..x
Omg I watched this video 4 times before making them. I have to say they came out great. Thank you for sharing you talent and family traditions. Blessing to you and your family. P.S. Love your mom and enjoy every moment with her and I am sure she is extremely proud of you.
My grandmother used to make flour tortillas. They're SO good. I love to put butter or margarine on them and scoop up beans
I love literally everything on this channel, I use some of your videos when I’m teaching the food unit in my Spanish class and then I totally promote the channel from having used your recipes myself! I cannot wait to try this recipe for tortillas this weekend!!
Nothing like the smell of homemade tortillas. Brings back my childhood!
“Set this in a place where it’s nice and warm.” - “In my bed.” - “Ok ...” (Steph’s priceless face walking away 😂😅🤣)
My friend made her own tortillas and I enjoyed watching her. She had a little "stick" that she rolled them out with. They were always perfectly round. Then she cooked them on the comal. They were like clouds. I could never master making tortillas. The best part was the egg and chorizo that she filled them with.
Just made these this morning and they turned out SO good. My husband and sons loved it!!! Thank you so much.
Good morning 🫶🏽 so happy y’all loved this recipe!!
I’m very excited to try to make these! My grandma used to make Sonora style tortillas. She’s tried to show me multiple times but doesn’t use measurements so mine never turn out right without supervision. I’m so happy I found your video. Thank you thank you!!!
I have never measured either and they come out good. Don't get discouraged. Practice, practice, practice! You'll get it!
I recently found your videos and I love it. I like how you explain and the reasoning for ingredients in making tortillas. ❤️
Hello , I have made these tortillas yesterday , I followed your instructions , used butter instead , and they were a success ( this was my first time ever making them), thank you so much ❤️, greetings from Algeria
This was a beautiful recipe and episode it was special and comforting. Thank you for sharing. You two and so hilarious🤗
I recently mastered the flour tortillas recipe and I bought me a doña apron to match 😍😍😍
I had arthritis too. I quit using white processed sugar and switched to raw cane sugar. My arthritis is gone completely! It really works.
This! This is the best tortilla video I've found so far. Every attempt I've made on tortillas has always been super wet, sticky, and never came together into a cohesive dough... even after 15 minutes of kneading. None of the other videos/recipes I've taken in do not say to add more flour. Thank you.
