AWWWWW. It was art. Now it's just a garage sale junker.
0:18 I thought initially that this guitar could be a Fender Custom Shop George Harrison’s “Rocky” Stratocaster.
Beautiful but I loved the paint job a previous owner had done.
As beautiful as this restoration is (love your channel), I find something aesthetically pleasing about the way the owner customized his/her instrument. Like it would be fun to see a professional version of some of these design ideas :)
Well, speaking strictly as a guitar-maker I love the idea and I'm definitely going to do it 🙂🙂
My heart sank when I realized the period artwork on the top was going to be destroyed. A piece of history lost. 😥
Vintage beauty restored to glory!
That DiMarzio single coil is now very rare. They sound great. I hope you will use it one of your projects!
Not a Dimarzio, an Aria Magnaflux, Matsumoku clone of the SDS-1, though.
I've done finishing on guitars for years and I've never seen paint come off that easy
That was an amazing art piece
It looked way cooler before your remodel tbh
This is one of the best sounding guitars you've refurbished. I wonder what the new pickups are.
The original sunburst to black is absolutely beautiful
Wow! @ 17:48, the way you take the old hacked-out pickguard and used it as a template to trace out the new one from a blank is GENIUS! Very Nice!
Видно мастер потрудился на славу!
Guitars made in Japan are certainly not junk as you can see there under that grime was something really nice great job bringing it back to glory
I want it...what a great player guitar.
Yes, that was a very expensive setup.
If I recall it has Gibson style electronics for the neck, and that bridge pickup is a hotrail humbucker
That was very expensive new.
Aria Pto II are not junk guitars. They exceed the playability of many guitar brand when this was built and still perform well. This one was ridden and put away wet. But you restored it from idiotic appearance to where it could be judged on playability. Nice job.
Great restoration. I would have liked to hear the Humbucker, Tele, Strat pickup set up it had because it is so unique, but the pickups you put in it sounded awesome! Great work bringing it back to it's original beauty.
乙!
Great work dude, my only criticism is the frets should have been replaced or at least leveled and crowned. Just my own OCD 😂
It looked so beautiful before and so average now!
All I can say is what a beautiful restoration project. I'm speechless!!!
I'll buy any Aria Pro-II (early 80s Matsumoku) that's sold as "junk".
Because they never are.
Beautiful restoration!! 🙏
Was just about to comment, ‘these are not junk guitars!’ Anything made in the Matsumoku factory should be a collectors item.
Great restoration and great riffs !!!
Aw. The front painting was cute. You should have tried to restore it making it pop a bit.
I have a soft spot for old Japanese guitars, and this one made a remarkable transformation thanks to you. Well done!
The art was cool. Reminded me of Clapton's Fool.
毎回、これだけ状態の悪いギターベースを探して来るリサーチ力がスゴい😂
Heavy tones with single coils are awesome! Lottsa times when I put a humbucker in a Strat-style, it eventually gets taken back out. You can dirty-up the lower-output pickups but you can't take the output out of a high-gain humbucker for convincing single-coil tones. Splitting coils is seemingly as lackluster as noiseless single coils seem to be...(and mixing both in same guitar is an unbalanced compromise .) This turned out beautiful. Bravo cutting that pickguard. Stay too long in one spot with that Dremel, and you'd have to start all over or accept the consequences
what a treat hearing pitfall on that guitar!!! 28:28
Ok, where is this giant pile of guitars that somebody just left out in some field for this dude to find and restore...? Some of the rust looks chemically enhanced if not fully synthesized.
Beautiful job❤
Awesome job! I love the fact that you replaced the humbucker on the neck with a single coil pickup, looks beautiful! ⭐
I'm really disappointed you didn't keep the period artwork...
OMG, I didn't even realize until he started taking it apart what kind of guitar this was. An Aria Pro II RS Special V. What really surprised me is I actually have the exact same guitar, in white that I bought brand new back in the early 80s. (It's still in great shape, if anyone wants to buy it. LOL). I played this guitar for a long time back in the 80s until I figured out that the neck is actually smaller width wise. I happen to have very long fingers, so once I figured out that a wider neck is much easier for me to play, I stopped playing this one. But since this was my first "real" guitar (Not one of the $100 ones from back then), I just couldn't seem to part with it. But for someone with smaller fingers, I bet they would love it. Doesn't make much sense to let it sit here and never play it, right? If anyone is interested, let me know.
Before it was unusual and unique. Now it just looks ordinary.
Hi! Greetings from Spain!
Well, I really like your videos, and your approach to restoring guitars. In fact, I'm running out of videos, so you've better find more guitars to restore!!
From this video, I've got a few things:
1. The method for making a new pickguard from scratch. Awesome!
2. As a constructive critic: You could have put more love on the fretboard: many frets were dented, so watching you doing a fret leveling and crowning job would have been great. Also, I would have cleaned all the grease near the frets with naphta or lemon oil before waxing.
3. I like your guitar playing and your "studio" idea, but you could also earn a living being a Luthier, I think you have a touch for that. So I dare you to build a guitar!!
i believe it's too late for a fret level, the guitar really could benefit from a complete refret.
Totally agree on this one@@calinguga , but I would like to see him getting his hands dirty at that level 😄
I have bought many guitars from Hard-off. Its a great place to get guitars like this. Good job on the guitar.
Your playing is equally impressive as your restoration skills! More power to you 🤟🏽
Outstanding job sir love your work
I liked the paint job. Oh well.
Another beautiful job, great job on the restoration of that guitar!!..
元の状態がサイケデリックペイントみたいでカッコイイ
What an amazing restoration ! Well done Man, you're a pure artist, this guitar sounds and looks great ! See you next video..
I have a RS Stray Cat built in 1982 that was in a worse condition than this one, it required a lot of love and elbow grease...
I also have a 1985 Knight Warrior that I got brand new back then...
That said, I'm always impressed with your skills and the end results of the guitar restoration...
Great job on the new custom pickguard by the way...
Me estoy volviendo loco viendo la perfección de estos trabajos...es IMPRESIONANTE
クリーンの音が結構好きです
サイケデリックなペイントの下から現れるサンバースト、大変goodです!お疲れ様でした!
When looking up this model of Aria I found the auction where you got the guitar. The same one! Beautiful job!
Very nice. In July of 2021 I pulled an old Global bass from the 70's out of the trash and resurrected it. It was in tough shape with green latex paint on it. I removed the paint and used Varathane pecan on it. I replaced the bridge, tuners and shimmed the neck. The action was about 1/4" high at the 12th fret, now it's about 3mm. It plays quite well. I'm using it right now actually.
Nice job!
You should have kept the humbucker just moved it to the bridge position and you didn't put a bezel on the side of that pickgaurd .
Beautiful. And the frets and pickguard looked so nice.
As said by others, great restoration but more so great riffs! Sound mean and dirty with the single coils!
I would love to own any one of the guitars you've refurbished!
A fabulous made in japan Aria restored to former glory! Kudos Studio asyl.
I think you should have left the paint paint looked pretty cool but nice aspiration anyway
Very nicely done. I bet you can get those small scratches out with some polish or light sanding.
Excellent restoration work!👌🏼✨
That before pick up set up looked interesting!!!
I like it like it was …. Only needed a little cleaning and strings. 😊
Great video. True craftsmanship. Aria Pros are great guitars! Cobain had one for awhile
I love what you do, but I think you did a disservice to this guitar. Surely there was a way to restore the guitar and leave the artwork!
Um ótimo trabalho nessas guitarras você faz. Muito bom essas guitarras são lindas.
プロの仕事ですね。素晴らしいです!
Really nice job! It's very impressive to watch somebody put a lot of detail into something that other people have thrown away and bring it back to life!
I really love what you're doing! By no means am I insulting your work, but the paintjob was neat. It would have been cool if you fixed up the paint and redid some areas, then covered it with clearcoat or maybe laquer.
.......I be owned aria's.....nice guitars...had an Aria Pro II Cat...built in pre amp
Awesome playing. Very cool
It's actually a nice finish under all that paint and junk. 🥲
Where are you finding these, pawn shop next to an art school? You do really good, solid work but I end up preferring the "befores" a lot of the time
PS You plat them really well, too; don't want to just give you a hard time!
いい動画でした。
Very cool! Looks 👍🏼
Aria good solid machines.Own a pro ii bass and also banjo. Both been worked hard and still play nicely
great restoration
完成度高い👍
How thick is the pickup-guard? Very good work 😉
That's Hide's painting design!
Honestly it looked cooler before. Just needed a new pickguard and some cleaning
Great restoration! You got some skills. I however like the paint job before. It’s super unique. Even the pickup layout was awesome. 👍
Great video - nice job 👏
Amazing job and great guitar player , i ve got one like the Frankie of EVH
See it looks weird without a bezel on the pickgaurd
Guitar was never junk.
I would have keep original paint, because that is the history of this guitar.
Yeah I was conflicted on that as well. I could have gone either way. What he did came out great. But that paint (as hap hazard as it was) had a certain charm and personality about it. Again, nothing wrong with what he did, but I might have just opted for repairing rather than restoring.
The style of the drawing reminds me the Burny Mg-145x Hide signature ❤️🇯🇵
amazing work!
Humbucker in neck...Tele neck in the middle and who knows what single coil in bridge..
I got a "strat" body someone removed some wood under pick guard with hammer and screw driver...it needs to be restored ...
ASMRタグつけて工具爆音はなかなか挑戦的(耳がやられる)
That thing looked like Steve Miller got ahold of it.
こにちわ amazing video as always!
I was like
Nooo, this paint job isn't that bad
But then i was like
Yeah, that's much better
What happens to these guitars and basses when you have restored them?
Oh no, that was hand painted by Santana!!
Eu tenho uma Aria Pro II STRATOCASTER e digo que ela não perde em nada para uma Fender. Belo trabalho.
Perfect!!!! You're the man!!!!
Do you sell any of these? I watch ALL of your videos
I wouldn't of restored it....I would of continued with customization of it.I always thought that particular Aria model stock kinda sucked , at least it had some cool vibes going for it and I'm pretty sure it had better pickups in it before you restored it. The pickups in it now look like any other no name cheap set . I bet it sounded way better before. Just my opinion. I'm almost positive Yngwie used to play one of those back when he was in Steeler.
Muy buen trabajo
Oh yeah ...do you sell these thru a online site or store?
Great work but I think you should level the frets or maybe even refret if its too far gone.
After yiu clean them, do you sell them?
I would like to buy this aria pro.
Se echa de menos un poco de música, el resto asombro
Taking a cat and giving her a good ol make over
