    Good choice, vintage KEM is slightly different feel and the arrow design has been around since early on. I think the jokers are pixilated, because it's the same image from the beginning no update. Also the Ace has the mfg month and year stamped on it.

    gotta admit, i'm a bicycle guy all the way.
    mostly paper cards, but i do like to use the plastic cards for some rounds with friends when drinks are involved, don't wanna risk my paper cards in those rounds, and the bicycle prestige do feel really nice to me and a couple of my friends prefer them over other plastic card brands as well.

    Plastic? Are you kidding me? If a deck has the word "plastic" anywhere on the tuck, or even if it doesn't but has plastic in the manufacturing process, it should be avoided like the plague. TWPCC's daughter companies like Legends, Expert, Hanson Chien and Dex have shown us that decks can be made to resist humidity just fine without ruining the cards by introducing plastic. Diamond stock with Diamond finish is what serious collectors should be reaching for - not plastic coatings or worse yet, plastic cards. Remember the outstanding NKW Cadenza marked decks or the Aquila decks? Diamond stock/diamond finish will never develope a pop and make even considering cards made with plastic to be absolutely inexcusable. I wish this wasn't the 1st video of yours I saw. I hate giving you a thumbs down on my first video but I have to. Don't ever review plastic cards.

    • @DiggoDecks
      @DiggoDecks  2 года назад +10

      Some people like them yo! I used to not like them either until recently, they're not as bad as they used to be. They're mostly used for home style play and poker because they can withstand peeking really well. Besides that I don't use them myself. I really like standard stock the most and that's what I use. These videos were about me exploring the world of plastic cards which exists and is much bigger than I originally thought.

    I'm partial to KEM myself - best "flex" and overall feel imho, with Copag a close second. I have a set of DaVinci's which I think is made by Modiano, and they feel a little too stiff and plastic-y for my taste. Also, I'm not a fan of the "fat spade" pip design of the Modiano/DaVinci's. Anyway, great comparison vid. (edit: btw my KEMs came in a plastic case similar to Copag. Not sure why yours came in a cardboard box)

    • @DiggoDecks
      @DiggoDecks  2 года назад

      Yeah KEM cards feel so good! Wonder why mine was in a cardboard box? Were your jokers also pixelated? And did you have a different back design than mine?

    • @spambaitpro

      @@DiggoDecks I have the jumbo index, wide ("poker sized") deck so the face cards and jokers have smaller pictures than a standard index deck, but my jokers do not show any pixelization, even when I take a picture and zoom in on the image. Definitely something odd with the jokers in your deck. Maybe they were a printing defect and sold through a different distribution channel? Might explain the cardboard box vs. plastic?

    • @mplovecraft
      @mplovecraft 2 года назад

      My KEMs also came with a plastic case. They are a decade old (and still in amazing condition) though, so they might have changed the box material since then. While I do like them a lot, I'm still preferential to Fournier since that's what me and my friends were using for all the home games. Nostalgia goes a long way.

      Adding to my other comment. I haven't used my KEMs since we moved, but inspired by the videos from yesterday I went and got them from the storage. Turns out they are not in mint condition after all. Seems they have become severely warped since I last used them about two years ago. They have been in their box the whole time. Maybe it was the cold (near but not below freezing point).

    I think KEM are rapidly pricing themselves out of the market. Their old cards were perfect back in the day and 'thee' best available, however, I hear the quality and durability has gone down in recent years while the price has gone wildly up, and impossible to buy in Europe. That's not good with China knocking on the door. Value for money tells me Copag are the way to go. Modiano had some concerns some years ago because their Spade pips were not sharp enough to be easily distinguished with the Clubs, this complaint apparently by pro players when sweating in their hole cards. Yes it's a thing. Loved the video though.

"Oh 3rd is this one, no wait, its the best, but these are worse, but ya know, they're pretty good, so yea, they're first, this is second and these are .....wait....that one does have that, so maybe its #1"...🤣lol🤣....and I got confused a bit, are you colorblind? You said you couldn't tell the difference between the red and black in the one deck. Which would make sense if you were color blind, but otherwise, that was confusing lol. Overall a good video, keep it up! 😁

    • @DiggoDecks
      @DiggoDecks  Год назад +2

      They all feel great! Some have pros and cons but overall I think I'd say that KEM cards shuffle the best and are a delight to hold. I think Modiano are good too but I'd prefer to shuffle the KEMs but maybe I'd prefer playing with the Modiano ones; that sorta vibe. If you wanna know which ones to get now it also depends on your budget.

    I like the KEM backs the best (I actually love them), Copag 2nd with Bicycle & the Italian brand tied in 3rd. Kem has the worst jokers and it is a deal breaker for me as appearance is critical for me. I Like the Copag jokers best by far with Bicycle Jokers 2nd. I like the same ace you chose 1st with the classic Bicycle 2nd. BTW the old Bicycle premiums had a better back design IMO. I think they just changed to the rider backs in the past couple years.

    I bought deck of KEMs about ten years ago and I was disappointed in their printing quality, it was clearly offcenter. For the price they should be perfect. Feeling of the cards was nice but overall I was a bit disappointed. I have a feeling there was some other problem but I am not sure... don't remember well.

    • @DiggoDecks
      @DiggoDecks  Год назад +1

      Yeah many people have told me that the original print runs before being acquired are way better. I have one deck from that era and they are pretty good. I did a video on them, it's the unicorn version.

    As you say the Modiano feel harder than KEMS, would you also say the Modiano are more durable and longer lasting? thanks

    • @DiggoDecks
      @DiggoDecks  Год назад

      Harder doesn't always count as the factor that makes them more durable. Most hard plastic cards chip or the paint rubs off over time.

      Paisley is my favourite back pattern for sure. And out of the red/blue colors in this video the KEMs have this kinda washed out/mild color that I at first didn't like but now prefer.

    COPAG is garbage. They start fading immediately and in less then a year they look terrible. I tossed mine in the garbage at 7 months. Desjgn is about my favorite.

      Been hearing the fading thing on multiple brands. And chipping. I've also heard COPAG has some good stuff. Maybe it was the print run you got that was defective or something?

    Have you tried the Faded Spade cards? They’re the official WPT partner, and they use them at Aria, Bay 101, Seminole Hard Rock FL, Borgata, and a bunch of others.
    I’ve been playing poker for a living for wellllll over a decade, and I’ve found that KEM/COPAGs have always been the go-to. I haven’t gotten my hands on the Faded Spade ones yet and am curious. As of right now the Poker Sized ones are out of stock or I’d grab a set.
    Lmk! PS: I put my uncle on to real quality cards (was using those standard cheapies) as a gift and he loves them. I got him Copags just bc they’re my default and I’ve used them way more. I do like the KEMs, but the Faded Spades have piqued my curiosity.

    How do Faded Spade 3.0 stack up? I have some Kems and love them, but was thinking about getting another deck and really like the look of the Faded Spade cards. I have had Copags in the past and liked their value, but they faded really badly after a year or so of use playing poker (something the Kems haven't done in years and years of use).

    So Bicycle changed the Prestige back design, if you search "Bicycle Prestige back" you see the original design and it was a bit more modern and had a white strip down the center with the traditional double cherub on bikes in the center.
