Woodturning and metalturning, an ashtray made of yew and aluminum for Father's Day

I made a large ashtray out of yew and aluminum for Father's Day.
Since today is Father's Day in the Netherlands, I thought it would be appropriate to release this video today because I made it together with my father.
I first turned a piece of aluminum for the inside of the ashtray under my dad's supervision on his metal lathe.
I have the theoretical knowledge but no practical experience at all to work with a metal lathe, so I asked my father if he wanted to help me turn on his metal lathe.
The base of the ashtray was made from a large piece of yew that I turned on my lathe.
I finished the yew with a number of layers of sealer and light sanding in between and lastly friction polish.
The ashtray has a diameter of 27 centimeters and is 10 centimeters high, the aluminum insert has a diameter of 18 centimeters and is 3.5 centimeters high.
