Hi, I a few days ago I visited Japan and I ate this as dessert. My travel mates didn't like it too much but I really enjoyed it. ^_^ Thanks for the recipe!
Just made these with my daughter - we added a little bit of crushed frozen cherry to the center with the anko filling. They were amazing! Thank you so much for the recipe!
I love how at least 5 people have asked if you can eat the leaves in the comments but there is literally no answer given in replies, just them thanking for an answer no one else can see. Its ever so helpful.
Kate Larsen Hi Kate! I don’t mean to ignore questions but when I get a lot of comments in once I can’t read all of them... 😞 Sorry about that. We can eat Sakura leaves as they are salt pickled. More about it explained in my blog post.
You make everything look so simple and delicious! I'll check your blog to see if you give a link to those leaves. Thank you for sharing this recipe--I think it's very doable!
What a nice video! Ive been searching for sakuramochi tutorials and this one is the only one that i found quite easy and beautiful. But i have a question, what if i cook the rice by using rice cooker? Is it okay?
***** thank you so much! I will try to make this recipe since i just bought some mochigome and have wanted to test it out nvn can it be pounded until it makes th paste?

Does anyone know where to buy anko and Sakura leaves? I did something called a nation notebook and I chose Japan. We are now doing something called a nations buffet and I want to make it for that😛🧐
+Misaki & Kaito I was about to comment this as well! wow! I wish I knew it was edible when I went late for the sakura season in japan so that I could have taken some and pickled it haha
I also never liked the flavor of food coloring. I simply pour hot water over organic blueberries and smash through a sifter for a purple color. For pink I do organic raspberries and they are naturally soft so pushing through a sifter/strainer over your rice easily gives you the desired color and does not have a nasty taste (: it just sucks because you might need a lot of berries for your desired color but it works. this is the technique they use for raspberry and blueberry rice ☺
GUYS YOU CAN EAT THE LEAVES

Another wonderful video~ Oh I also want to know, is the sakura leaf just for decoration or can you eat it too?
You eat the leaf like you would with grape leaves.

Hi! Can I use just use white rice instead of this sweet rice and add sugar to make it sweet? plss do reply...
Yummy
Is sweet rice sticky rice? Thanks
Yes, sweet rice or glutinous rice is sticky rice, not regular rice. :)
Just One Cookbook Anko is red bean paste right?
XxMoxxiMoxX yes :)
If that exist in Brazil i will eat it *till my hair become pink*
Mitsuri wants to know your location.

Looks good!
But not sure if it will taste good

If I don’t have a microwave oven can I use a rice cooker?
(I don’t have microwave cuz I have zero space)
Sure I think you can do that.
Does the sakura leaf changes the taste of the rice?
***** weird question: Can the Sakura leaf be eaten or no?
***** I never knew that, thanks for telling me....I've never had Mochi before
They say you can eat the sakura petals but never heard of eating the Sakura leaf so I guess it’s a no no?
The Sakura leaf is just to give it a subtle flavour but mostly for decoration.
Beautiful hands👍
Can I replace the Sakura leaves anything else?
Can you tell me what is the anko ball
Reminds me of old school monster rancher lol
Imagine after eating a ton of these ur hair turns pink. Totally not a reference from someone from an anime
no wonder Mitsuri's hair was pink
yep
Do you know how to pickle the sakura leaves?
Is there a stovetop alternative to this? I don't have a microwave unu

Does anyone know where to buy anko and Sakura leaves? I did something called a nation notebook and I chose Japan. We are now doing something called a nations buffet and I want to make it for that😛🧐
Do I have to use sweet rice? Or can I just use normal rice cause it has sugar in it as well
Lorena Secan you can use glutinous rice but not normal rice. Just add sugar to the glutinous rice.
Is there anything else I can use other then red bean paste?
+Taihei Doma I guess you can try with some mung bean paste, or even peanut jam? lol but anko taste better
Not really. It would change the entire taste.
As an asian I don't believe in microwaving the rice 😅
Is this why Mitsuri’s hair is pink
someone said it was idk
Can I eat the leaves ?
They look tasty. I eat beetle nut leaves with this sweet stuff . 😗

+Danyael Dacanay cool
Yes
It’s kinda bitter
Ranma & Akane :)
I prefer soak sakura leaves in salty water.
I also did it, but I soak the leave in sugar water again so it won't taste salty
Yeah i'm to food sakuramoshi
Where do you get Sakura leaves😭
Isn't this onigiri?
Isn't mochi supposed to be beaten until rice becomes soft, sticky and smooth?
Sakura Mochi is always "half pound" glutinous rice. You will see the grain still. We have different kinds of mochi in Japan.
@@justonecookbook oh really?!
Ok then. Thanks for the info dear youtuber😄

Emilie Borsig Graugaard Hansen it wouldn't be bad because of the intense Sakura leaves and the Anko paste.
Try beetroot powder, all you need is 1/8 teaspoon n you can’t taste it.
What is anko exactly (what is it made of)
Ezzel Official just what I want to know!
Anko means red bean. Anko an means red bean paste.
Ok I was here because of mitsuri kanroji from Kimetsu no yaiba ( Demon slayer )
