    Thanks for setting off my Google Assistant by asking the car questions! 😅
    This is a nice looking car, and somewhat efficient. We don’t get Renault in the US anymore, but we might see elements of this through Nissan in the US (not sure if the Ariya shares anything with this)
    It’s 15C in Norway, meanwhile here on the US West Coast it’s been below 0C every evening for the past week. That’s normal for a lot of places in the world, but not here, or at least not for that long. Our weather has been messed up this year (well, every year for the past 5 years)
    The difference between the displayed SOC on the car vs Car Scanner is probably the actual SOC including buffer (on the Car Scanner) vs the SOC not including buffer (what is showing in the car).

    Owning this car I can confirm your car is obviously broken concerning the drive assistant, never had a single problem activating it. Also I don’t have to move the steering wheel to confirm I’m still awake - just touch it.
    Also never had a problem with charging, though I can confirm that charging speed could be better. I‘ve tested so many cars, including ID3 and ID4, they where really disappointing. So far we love the car.
    Btw. we have no problem driving it on longer road trips, surely a larger battery would help a lot to get to the destination a bit faster but comfort wise it’s pretty good.

    Thanks Björn for your video, always informative and fun. I am wondering about your efficiency though. I have a Mégane e-tech, and most of my driving is on the freeways in Switzerland. I use the adaptive regulator (works great) and set it at 110 km/h. My average consumption is only about 16 kWh/100 km against your 25 or so,. Slowing down by 10 km/h can make a huge difference in efficiency and need for charging...

      I know Switzerland is crazy when it comes to speed restrictions, but in the rest of Europe 110 is unusable on the national roads: too slow for regular cars, too fast for the trucks.

    I watch your channel regularly - and I think it´s one of the best EV channels out there! Thanks for that. Concerning the 1000km challenge. On one hand it´s great to do it as fast as the car is able to do it, but this can result in some "unrealistic charging strategy". Consumers will not use in daily life. Probably it could be useful to be more "consumer focused" - meaning that the normal "consumer might not go lower than 10% - but will charge always to around 70-90%. Test procedure would be more like to drive down to 5-15% and always charge it to 75-85%. This would also signal to the OEMs the importance of charge ability over time and not peak ability for some narrow percent range.

    • @hadtopicausername
      @hadtopicausername Год назад +2

      14,2 volt is the perfect charging voltage for a 12 volt battery, if I remember correctly.

    • @Infinion
      @Infinion Год назад

      12V is ambiguous. In the lead-acid family, charging voltages vary depending if its a flooded, gel, vrla, agm, or lead carbon chemistry. For flooded batteries 15V is necessary as a finishing charge. If your charger charges to 14.2V and never tops off at 15V, that represents an incomplete charge where you're leaving a little bit of lead sulfate to cover your plates, and sentencing it to a short life when you repeat that over and over.
      13.8V is for "float charging" when the battery is not in use. You're simply compensating for the self-discharge and retaining the battery state of charge.

      Also interesting this challenge was done 2 years later than ID3. ID3 nowadays has better charging curve so the gap would be even wider. I expected the Megane to do better since it got so much hype.

    All car makers should have Android google system. The best for cars. I never use inbuilt navigations because its too clunky and hard to use. Definitely a good move for Renault from their TomTom system in previous generations.

      @@alfrredd Absolutly not! Ë-c4 is comparable to mg4 64kwh not the 51kwh. More about 3 or 4 k euro. And we don't even speak about quality or technology wich is seriously risky with Chinese MG...
      And the new motor and battery of ë-c4 will be seriously compétitive in 2023, even if it is 100% chinese production for mg4

      For the left-hand drive version, it is actually the most inappropriate place for the loading flap! Nobody with a single garage can do anything with this vehicle, unfortunately. Impossible and unique. To my knowledge, no other electric car has the charging flap only on the front right!

    I'm so happy to see confirmation that I made the right decision to not buy this car. A 2019-level EV from a greedy manufacturer which prioritises design over quality and performance. If it were 15.000€ cheaper, then yes, I would consider it (27.000€ and not 42.000€).

    No wonder Model Y has been selling like hotcakes.
    Bigger, better, you get more per euro paid with the Tesla.

      That depends on market. Where I live the Iconic E-tech and the Base RWD Tesla Y cost the same. But quite different cars - Y is a huge lump to drive where the Renault feels more like a Golf GTI type of car. Feels much lighter and more nimble, but much smaller and less spacious.
