Wetterlings rocks! I love em so much that I took a road trip to the factory, hung out with the axe smiths and bought me a another axe. Quality stuff from really cool people. Greetings from Sweden, btw!

Hey tac! The metal wedge you were talking about is a step wedge. They are used to keep the wood wedge in, not a huge deal if it doesnt come with one. I heard that wetterlings stopped using them because they were looking to be more traditional and the wood wedge is most traditional. Also one of the priorities of gransfors and wetterlings is to be more Eco-friendly. Keep up the good work!

Ia so happy I got some of their axes before they were discontinued. they just look and feel awesome. Their axe bits look kind of medieval or like the kid the early frontiersmen used. I just wish I could find their Forester's Fine Axe somewhere.

I honestly like the wetterlings axes more than GB and i'd get one if they sold them in my country...so i had to compromise and get a Husqvarna, anyways awesome video as always.

That's my axe. Well, not that one specifically :) But I have that model. Got a steal of a deal. $80 and free shipping. Got a coupon code from an online retailer for 33% off the first purchase and free shipping over $49. Was going for the similar Gransfors until I saw that. This axe is the perfect size for my pack and does everything well. This and two smaller knives is all I need for cutting tools in my typical load out.
    Great review!

Want to help a brother out and tell me how to get one at that price? I love these axes, but sadly my budget only allows for me to look at ones like the condor Greenland pattern Axe which is about 60. But I'd be more then willing to spend 88 for this quality of a blade!

Say Heah Tac't, Here's a $64,000,00 question, Now that you have this one and the G. B. Small Forest Axe which one would you get if you could only have one. Oh by the way. I just got my 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the heavy duty sheath and sling and a Leather heft protector when you over strike. I defenetly got it for cold weather camping. Oh, I also got the Ochsenkopf Axe on extended trips when alot of wood is needed to stay warm, Yeah It's equal to Forest Axes. But the reason I got it instead of Swedish Axe is because I'm very happy with my German Iltis Oxhead House Axe, and it has a Rotband Plus Head to Heft system, Check it out it's the
    OX 620 H-1257, A 1250g (2.7lbs.) head and a 700mm (27.5+") heft, Aces, Tac't check it out.

  • @RichAllfieldnohit

2nd time watching this, you know what I keep thinking? Gransfors should adopt a geometry like some of these Wetterlings (better for splitting). Gransfors does have a tiny little hatchet (wildlife hatchet?) that has great geometry but it's too damn small.
    Just some thoughts.
    Carry on :)

I'm a huge fan of both Wetterlings and Gransfors, I own several of them. However, I would like to see you try your chopping like that with the REAL hardwoods that are very prevalent here in the states. Truth be told, 90% of Bushcraft people could NEVER fathom dealing with woods like Oak, Mesquite, Red Cedar or Hickory. Must be nice to be chopping Pine, Birch or Spruce all day!

    • @cbr600rrturbo

A saw is faster than any ax and weighs less. Not to mention they require less effort. The only thing axes are more efficient, is splitting logs for fire.
