Wetterlings rocks! I love em so much that I took a road trip to the factory, hung out with the axe smiths and bought me a another axe. Quality stuff from really cool people. Greetings from Sweden, btw!
just like your man lol lol lol been thinking about getting an axe one day, so many choices out there. thanks to you and your test reviews, it makes it easier to avoid the crappy ones. this looks a solid tool bro cheers tac
Hey tac! The metal wedge you were talking about is a step wedge. They are used to keep the wood wedge in, not a huge deal if it doesnt come with one. I heard that wetterlings stopped using them because they were looking to be more traditional and the wood wedge is most traditional. Also one of the priorities of gransfors and wetterlings is to be more Eco-friendly. Keep up the good work!
First time on your channel and I gotta say dude you're entertaining as hell. Went ahead and subbed... BTW cool idea regarding that ten chop test. I'm curious to see what that GB chops- Cheers, Jaw
Ia so happy I got some of their axes before they were discontinued. they just look and feel awesome. Their axe bits look kind of medieval or like the kid the early frontiersmen used. I just wish I could find their Forester's Fine Axe somewhere.
I honestly like the wetterlings axes more than GB and i'd get one if they sold them in my country...so i had to compromise and get a Husqvarna, anyways awesome video as always.
That's my axe. Well, not that one specifically :) But I have that model. Got a steal of a deal. $80 and free shipping. Got a coupon code from an online retailer for 33% off the first purchase and free shipping over $49. Was going for the similar Gransfors until I saw that. This axe is the perfect size for my pack and does everything well. This and two smaller knives is all I need for cutting tools in my typical load out. Great review!
Want to help a brother out and tell me how to get one at that price? I love these axes, but sadly my budget only allows for me to look at ones like the condor Greenland pattern Axe which is about 60. But I'd be more then willing to spend 88 for this quality of a blade!
Beautiful Tac't two in a row, I want that Back Country Axe, Thanx Bro, I just ordered my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet made by 2Hawks Devin Price is like an artist with his Tomahawk's and Hatchets, Thanx Bro, I always wanted a Wetterling Axe that size, I here their great to split wood with, I have a Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe it's a good one too, but I heard Wetterling split better, Thanx Bro.
Thanks Tac. You're spot on too. It's no Gransfors Bruks but it's still a beauty by comparison to most. Always great with the camera too buddy. Stay well.
Nice vid! Love your Mother...*beep* :)) Gransfors and Wetterlings are very very good and yes: the best axes, but check out Hultafors, even same as good for less money!!!
On that piece of wood that didn't split right away, I leaned a new term just now it's called Axe Tapping, excactly just hammer it through, but the term is Axe Tapping.
man, you should become a voice actor! Seriously great entertaining value right there. Good video! Hang on to your Wetterlings, they might increase in value, now that the company makes Gransfors axe heads :-/
awesome vid again mate but you do worry me the way you use an axe haha, but I know you like to live dangerously so all good bro lmao, I use Australian axes but Wetterlings are available over here I think I might just try one of those. thx mate
Much better axe than the Fiskars you reviewed a while back eh? The end part you called a "palm swell" is sometimes referred to as a fawn's foot or cow foot handle. I'll have to check out a Wetterlings some time. Great vid!
Tac, great vid! Ever come across a Klax? Would love to see that tested especially with the handle it comes with...optional I hear, or a makeshift handle.
Say Heah Tac't, Here's a $64,000,00 question, Now that you have this one and the G. B. Small Forest Axe which one would you get if you could only have one. Oh by the way. I just got my 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the heavy duty sheath and sling and a Leather heft protector when you over strike. I defenetly got it for cold weather camping. Oh, I also got the Ochsenkopf Axe on extended trips when alot of wood is needed to stay warm, Yeah It's equal to Forest Axes. But the reason I got it instead of Swedish Axe is because I'm very happy with my German Iltis Oxhead House Axe, and it has a Rotband Plus Head to Heft system, Check it out it's the OX 620 H-1257, A 1250g (2.7lbs.) head and a 700mm (27.5+") heft, Aces, Tac't check it out.
***** give me a polished bead finish anyday...but its all personal preference...maybe an option would be gr8, but still wouldnt stop me from getting one for sure! its a mother chopper
2nd time watching this, you know what I keep thinking? Gransfors should adopt a geometry like some of these Wetterlings (better for splitting). Gransfors does have a tiny little hatchet (wildlife hatchet?) that has great geometry but it's too damn small. Just some thoughts. Carry on :)
I'm a huge fan of both Wetterlings and Gransfors, I own several of them. However, I would like to see you try your chopping like that with the REAL hardwoods that are very prevalent here in the states. Truth be told, 90% of Bushcraft people could NEVER fathom dealing with woods like Oak, Mesquite, Red Cedar or Hickory. Must be nice to be chopping Pine, Birch or Spruce all day!
A saw is faster than any ax and weighs less. Not to mention they require less effort. The only thing axes are more efficient, is splitting logs for fire.
You need to get a pexto carpenters hatchet I promise you it is they best hatchet you can get them off ebay I snagged one from the 60s its a beast for free from a freind
Wetterlings rocks! I love em so much that I took a road trip to the factory, hung out with the axe smiths and bought me a another axe. Quality stuff from really cool people. Greetings from Sweden, btw!

Hog Wylder we have a lot of hard woods here but since this is state land I only chop what evers dead
In my experience dead English oak would test any axe.
A saw is faster than any ax and weighs less. Not to mention they require less effort. The only thing axes are more efficient, is splitting logs for fire.
But fun o play without? I do agreed with you~ but it looks fun to play with. And it looks cool to carry one...
Hey there Tac, wich one would you choose between the wetterlings backcountry and the gransfors smal forest axe? Thanx
Hey Tac, which one do you like better the GB SFA or this Wetterlings?
Which do you think is better... this or the granfors equivalent, (SFA)
Just a tip, don't chop off a branch next to your leg.OMG
ready to kick my own ass ha ha ha top man tac great review i love that axe
lol you know me
Tha back of the butt of the axe is called the fawns foot
sweet
Try the husqavarna limbing/multi purpose axe, same exact axe, Swedish hand forged 50-60$, UNBELIEVABLE DEAL, it works its ass off, fuh real :)
Oh no, I think tac just costed me more money.
kendric476 lol
The trail boss and the condor had to cut through a inch of ice and the wretterling didn't
ah yaaa lol nice
I wonder how they drive that handle into the head so that it doesn't need a wedge. Maybe hot steel and a cold handle?
they have a vid on it & its pretty cool, check out the chick! aw yeah
Nice Swedish chick! So they do insert a wooden wedge with that press. Very interesting.
it looks sexy as hell bro
it is playa!
Husqvarna is the BEST axe in the market
we shall see
Husqvarna does not make axes! They had Wetterlings and still have Hultafors, maybe among others, manufacture the axes for them
wetterlings or gransfors?
sweeeeet ax tac.....whats that thin cost?
$110
Hey tac, I am stuck between this axe and the grantors bruk small Forrest axe. What would be your choice between the two?
frank da tank watch my vid on the small forest axe to find out :)
You need to get a pexto carpenters hatchet I promise you it is they best hatchet you can get them off ebay I snagged one from the 60s its a beast for free from a freind
ill look man
cold steel and condor fucking sucks compared to gränsfors bruks and wetterlings
do you live in the woods?
Oooooooo yea!
haha
Ik it will kill u to do it but can u test ur rmj tomahawk plz
uhh probably lol
what was the song at the beginning?
dont recognize it eh? give u a hint its a movie where the main character is named frodo.
Worried about scratching your axe handle? You should probably also wear gloves so you don't break a finger nail lol.
All wooden handles break on Texas Oak. I use an Estwing- one piece of steel.
can you deu a vid on the sog forse
sorry bro I don't have that one
Fawns foot not palm swell
I still have mine
lol, does your patch say SOJC ( soldier of Jesus Christ).
