Omg, I have to do this ALL the time with my clients, its not that its dreaded, when water hits all of the lint, dirt and dust that accumulates at the base of the braid, it turns to a feeling of cement. These knots of debris MUST be combed out BEFORE you wet your hair, and you will have no problem, however if you do wet your hair.. PRO TIP: Saturate with any Aussie Conditioner and plastic cap, sit under the dryer for 30 min and the dirt knots will slip right out with a comb..Then proceed to washing💜

    • @MzMagic

@@mbennett6713 no, I'm not saying that...when you take the braid down use a comb to comb out the lint ball at the roots before washing and conditioning

Hi. I am a 72 year old white woman with very fine white hair. I am fascinated by your work and am learning a lot. I now know what 4C hair is and silk presses. I am sooo not a hair person and do as little as possible with my own hair. I am impressed with your techniques and am amazed at the amount of time you need to create your styles. Thank you for sharing your expertise and talent.

It’s been six months since I took out my daughters locs… I am still trying to get the middle of her hair detangled to the root. That’s why I’m watching this video.
It hurts her so bad that for months all I could do was two pigtails and finally a couple of weeks ago, we worked our way up to about 10-12 ponytails.
I am determined to tackle this once and for all so that she can get back to wearing more versatile hairstyles without the pain.
This video offered a lot of tips.
Geeze, I would drench her hair with water before starting because that’s what I did with the locs.
I’m going to start on damp hair this time!
    Wish me luck 😊

I have to do this all the time with my kid's braids. As of this weekend I told the stylist don't put any products in their hair. I should have been doing that for years but forget, but not anymore. It takes hours to get the matting out .
My kid got that thick coarse hair so it doesn't get messed up in braids like fine hair, so it doesn't even need products with braids.

Detailing after braids is my worst nightmare. Oh my gosh.. I can scream from sheer frustration. And I have to do it by myself in stages

This happened to me about a year ago where i got box braids and when it was time to take them out i didn't detangle my hair, and my hair started falling out after it knotted up.
I had bald spots and i had to cut my hair off.
I had some long beautiful hair that took me 2 years to grow out.
I already knew to detangle but i was just being lazy and I had to go to work that same day. 🤦

I'm going through this as we speak. First time ever getting braides now I'm left without much hair and overly stressed!

@sonyababineauxburton8482 First time ever getting braids. Had my own hair braided up in small braids for my Jamaica vacation. Hair was braided up for three weeks. I took down the braids last night and didn't wash my hair until today.
Being a person who doesn't get her hair done, I had no idea that I was supposed to detangle before washing. I never detangle before washing. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️
Well, my hair matted up so bad at the ends, I had to chop off a lot. I tried regular detangler, it didn't work. 😡😡
      NEVER AGAIN 🫤🫤🫤

Great video but you didn't show the products and DETANGLE brush very closely and long enough to see what they were. Next time please show what you are using. Thanks.

Raising hand on the "using conditioner to detangle". That was me. Slathered a bunch of conditioner, my hair was like NOPE!! After 3 days of detangling and a sore head my hair was like, "girl I told you NOPE". My win came in the form of me doing a big chop!!!
