Thank you for your video! I have bouts of major depression and my hair care is the first thing that goes to the wayside. I absolutely panic that my mass of matted natural hair has been ruined. It’s hard to go to a salon in that state for fear of shame or being told you have to cut it off. I will take deep breathes and plan my steps from now on with your advice :).
Gm. I had a sew in for three months- unbraided and went in the shower it washed through fine- when I got out matted- I’m scared I have have to cut my hair
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I took off my three-month protective style. I decided to cut my hair as I went because I couldn't detangle the hard balls that had formed. Halfway through I heard a voice whispering in my ear "Try castor oil", I ran to the cabinet, reached out for the bottle and started applying the oil. Boy was I surprised! Sadly I had to cut the detangled hair too😢. I'm now growing my hair all over again. Thank you for this video, Crystal ❤
Lordy, lordy, lordy, about a year ago that’s what happened to my hair. I washed without detangling and felt my hair tightening and when I lifted my towel from drying it, my entire head had rolls and rolls of corn rolls that were so matted I couldn't lift them from my scalp 😭😳. It was a nightmare. After a week of trying stuff, I still couldn't lift it off my scalp. I can't recall how long it took to be able to lift it enough to cut them all out but it was the craziest thing that ever happened to me. Thank you, Crystal, for going into detail about this and reminding folks to always detangle before washing.
Thank you Soòo much!!.. I've let my hair get in the WORST SHAPE EVER 😭.. Being SICK.. LOSING MY MOM it's been very CRAZY!!.. Gonna try what you said cause I saw a video & it said use Conditioner & SLOWLY DETANGLE & I bought it already & was about 2 start the Process!!
I was always told moisten /wet to detangle before washing. Wow! Clip or tie after detangle, to prevent hair follicles to revert to matted state 😏 I’m experiencing this , thanks ☺️
Excellent advice Crystal. I took my braids out last week and detangled one by one. But....I didn't use the moisture line went right to the repair and restore. 🤦🏽♀️😔. Lesson learned.
Thank you so much for this video. It is very informative. I took my daughter out of a long, so-called protective style. Sadly, I did everything wrong and went into complete panic mode. I feel horribly and that I have done a real disservice to my daughter. Fortunately, I knew enough to step away at this point to calm down, regain my composure and control. Thank you for helping me get a plan in motion. 😊
Thank you so much for this video that was much needed i wish there were more hair stylist like you as for explaining and the patience you show in this video It is the #1 video for depression people to watch no matter what color your skin is so again God Bless you and thank you again
I got braids for the first time recently and the amount of hair I lost while trying to detangle through the matted hair. I was in tears! 😢 I wish I had watched this video beforehand. SMH 🤦🏽♀️
I am dealing with this very problem right now, I have been soooo depressed with several of lifes issues and my hair is matted beyond matted, I dont know what to do, Im trying to find a take down specialist and really wish I could come see you! Im in tears every day because of my hair, I dont even know when it got this bad...😢
Who told us that it was okay not to comb our hair for weeks? Braids are not protective if we're wearing them for 6 weeks! We are abusing our hair and scalps. This practice has to stop, look at the results. My hair refused to grow for years. Thank God that I am learning
Thank you... you calmed me all the way down.... not too bad with having to detangle.. but the amount of hair LOSS gave me anxiety!! Do you recommend getting braids right after?
Good afternoon Crystal. Nice informative video. I detangle while dry, but not that I really knew this was the way to go. Thanks for sharing valuable info and your delivery was excellent! Big up yourself!!
I don’t know who would have braids in their hair for such a long time you have to wash your hair, even with the braids in at least every two weeks or every month to clear the scalp so the hair can continuously grow and thrive but if it was me and I usually wear braids I wash my hair in between the long periods. I usually do not go no longer than three months before I take it down but I do wash at least thoroughly every three weeks to a month while the braids are in for three months, anything beyond three months, your hair will start to tangle and dread even during takedown the hair is dreaded.

To late I already cut my hair. I tried everything. The matting was so bad. I have lupus l loose hair every time I wash and brush my hair so I wash it not so often. Butthis ti.e I went two weeks. Oh man I ended up with such a Matted hair 😢 I couldn't get it to move put 1/2 inch with picking it for hours with about a 2 inch span. So this am I cut it. I will be searching for a wig till my hair starts to grow back out.😢😢😢
@@lauraboudreaux6581 I bought 2 beautiful wigs. For now the great thing about it. I just put a little .make up on and put on my hair. It's already done.
That is exactly what happened to me while being pregnant I had braids in for 5 months after I had the baby I decided to take my hair down and I washed it and it was dreaded 😢 I lost soooo much hair I didn’t know what to do 😢
Depending on your hair, refresh your braids/twist every 2 to 3 weeks. Use oil or leave in condition on the braids/twist before detangling it. Then finger detangle it. Also, with the new growth, you might be able to feel it starting to tangle. If you can, then you know what to do. Also, if you wash your hair every 2 or 3 weeks, do this before washing your hair. It's called pre pooing your hair. Put your hair sections and wash it in sections. You can also finger detangle your hair again while washing your hair.
The most painful knot in the hair middle bottom, man it hurts to get those tangles out. Hair is like teeth if you don’t continue to wear your not braces they will go back to how they were.

Cocaknotz's detangling method has SAVED me all the time!!! Her method is Excellent!!!
Thank you so much! This was right on time. I made the major mistake of washing my hair right after taking out crochet. SMH
That’s what I do I always pull apart/comb out detangle my hair before I do anything to it.

Now I need something REALLY good for detangling matted hair.
If it is dry it will break while trying to detangĺe

I have always detailer my hair once I begins to take down my braids. And than comb through to make sure it's not detangle.
So glad I came across this video! Thank you!!!
