Beautiful!!! I love using cardboard. I ink up those raised "lines" then use it like a stamp on cards and journals. Fun way to make wonky "lines" to be able to write on the inside of a card or journal.
I LOVE IT! Its gorgeous, looks like it was hard to do but you made and showed how simple it really is to make. Guess what I'll be doing today while my husband watches football? Yep! Getting cards like this made! Thank you Christine! Your a genius. It never ceases to amaze me what women can do, even accidentally or just messing around with their craft mediums to Dee what new things they can do differently. Thank yo so much! Your humor makes me laugh. Thanks again, for sharing.😍
I laughed so hard when you were concentrating & explaining to us your card making process, when all of a sudden Mr.Siri came on & rudely interrupted you, your attitude changed so quickly & same with your tone & you said, “Good grief, go away Mr. Siri, I don’t need you anymore today!!!” You sounded mad, I’m so sorry Ms. Chrissie, I couldn’t help but laugh so hard😂!!! Anyway, what a Stunning card!!! Thanks again for your time.
That ~ is a GORGEOUS Card! I will try this for sure. Love your sense of humor talking to Mr. Siri. Thank you so much Christine. Oh... I wanted to mention ~ I have the same size jar of gilding flakes and I had a little play yesterday. After I was done, I wound up putting the flakes in a sandwich sized plastic container. It filled it all up, but I could get better access to the different colors of flakes. xo
You’ve inspired me to use a lot of “unusable “ items items that I have stashed away. Thanks for all of your great ideas and sharing them. I don’t think I will ever catch up to all of your vids. Every time I think I’ve seen them all, another one pops up just like this one! 🤗. Hugs from Shirley Honeycutt, Michigan USA
Thank you so much for showing this fantastic technique! I was just about to shop for colored gilding flakes and now I know I can color them myself. I love all your videos. In addition to always learning something new, it is like spending time with a very talented friend. Thank you.
I was having a rough start to my day and watching your video just brightened me up! The technique is fantastic - the hair spray magic is just lovely when it blends. I hope it works with any other brand of spray, too. I tried to catch the type in your last video where you showed it. Paul Mitchell ultra-fine I think (in case the magic is a chemical they use). I love your banter with Siri. You always give me a good chuckle and leave me smiling. Thank you for that!!
I'm delighted that you enjoy my videos, it's wonderful to receive feedback like this. I imagine that all hairspray would have a similar effect, I'll try a different brand and find out! Thank you 🍁🍁🍁
Hi Chrissie, late to your party on this card, but am so glad to have taken some time to watch this video. It’s just a lovely way to achieve those beautiful autumn colours. Your tips on getting distressed edges on the corrugated card were great too. I’ve struggled in the past to achieve that. The hairspray diffusing the oxide inks is quite magical. I could hear the excitement and pleasure in your voice. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm for card making. I think perhaps you’ve never lost the childlike joy of creating a new surprise to share with us. Just love it!
Ahh Chris, quite heartfelt comments, I can assure you. It’s easy to skip through something which doesn’t resonate or catch one’s interest. It takes a bit more time to thoughtfully try to respond to the effort, talent and artistry you put into creating a video. I feel that’s one way to pay it forward to you. Thanks Chris!
Thank you Mister Siri 😂 ( Christine thanks for the laugh) this card is lovely but what I really appreciated is the new idea to me creating that wow leaf. Can't wait to give this a go. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and creativity with us.
Thank you so much Christine, I really really enjoyed watching you creating this beautiful and stunning car d. And I really really love ❤️ how you did the leaf. It’s so very very clever and useful too. Also the cardboard to, great way to use it too. I’m going to try out the gilding flakes and the ink’s too, because it’s really really spectacular when it’s on the card. I’m hoping mine come out the same. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Delightful! I was excited to see what the hair spray did to the ink. Then when you pressed the corrugated cardboard with your fingertips, I saw wood plank, perfect for woodsman, carpenters, fishers or sailors. Thank you Christine. I love your inspiration. I used gilting flakes yesterday. The little jars smiled when I opened them and the flakes did a little jig. Could have been my breath though 😂
I had to pause the video to come down here and say that I just love you! I talk back to things, too!! And I show my attitude with it. I love that you kept that in! This card, and these techniques are just beautiful! I love this so much. I think I will play with it and try my own.
I hope you have lots of fun with this technique and enjoy your conversations with yourself in the process! 😁😁😁 I love You for great comments like this one! ❤️
Hi. That is such a lovely card and I !ove the corrugated cardboard background. It's gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this tutorial and thank Mr Siri, too. 😂
@@Chrissieannie Sorry for wasting your time, I realised a little while ago that I can skip back to the transcript to check. Thank you for replying to an old bird who's losing her marbles though. 🙄
Hello Christine from California! You are such a kick and have some awesome ideas for such beautiful cards. Just wanted to pass on something I find helpful. I put a pencil grip my tools that tend to roll on my work surface...pokey tool for instance. Take care and keep on doing what you do. Warm regards, Rena
Thanks so much, that's a great idea. NTT desk is my daughter's old dressing table and had a bit of a rake on it. As you see if I put an implement down from East to west itt rolls, North to south there is no problem, plus over started putting my pokey tool down between three glass mats which keeps it still! Don't always think of it though! 😃😃😃
I agree with all of the compliments. I have a crimper that I bought years ago. I never use it and thought about getting rid of it. Anyway, I am going to try and make this card for my Sick & Shut-In ministry. Thank you for the inspiration.
Cracked me up when Siri tried to help. Perhaps you could put your initial dab of gilding wax on the inside of the lid for your pot and conserve that extra bit of it each time. Enjoyed this one. I just got some variegated gilding flakes and will try this out. 🍁🍂
He's jumped into my videos before now, never helped me! It's a good idea about the lid except that there's often a glob of gilding Wax on it from it having been thrown into the drawer, so I've just kind of got used to taking a little from my mat! 😊😊😊
That is absolutely stunning!! I love using corrugated on cards since my husband is the VP & GM of a Box Plant and you have opened a whole new slant for me to use!!! You are amazing, Christine!!! Love your cards and ideas!!! ❤❤❤
Hi Christine, As always you are so creative, coming up with great ways and techniques to use the products we probably already have. I just love visiting your site and learning new things. Thank you for the inspiration!
This is such a wonderful idea. I had used gilding flakes on T-Giving cards and wasn’t thrilled... but this would step them up! Love it! And your little banter with Mr Siri.... you were so polite yet firm! 😂. I giggled.... again! 💕🙋♀️🇺🇸
At last found some double sided sheets in my stash thin enough to die cut. Been playing all evening😉 Not so much joy with colouring my gilding flakes with distress inks (can't justify replacing with oxides), bit too translucent, got a slight tint to the edges. Craft room has a nice whiff of hair spray. Another completed card with no die envy going on😜 Look forward to the next inspiration you upload. If it's not your watch it's Siri lol. Take care. Exx
I thought that my Distress Inks were the bee's knees and I used them so much, I didn't feel the need for Oxides, but one day I bought some! They are a whole different ball game. They are more versatile and react amazingly with water. If you're not prepared to buy a whole bunch I wouldn't buy any, because I think if you get a few, you'd want more. .. and they're not cheap! 🤔
@@Chrissieannie I've bought a few in colours I don't have in distress inks. As you say they are lovely but at £6 a pad and without a re-inker just not affordable at present. I did have a quick go with versafine clair and it did ok, moved a little with the hairspray. I have quite a few variegated flakes so it was only to try really. When I run out of the really pretty colours, I will have another go with my other ink pads or even with alcohol inks. There's usually some way to adapt to get a similar look. Ex
Your cards are beautiful! I never would have thought to add ink to the gilding flakes to enhance the colors. And definitely would not have thought to use hair spray. I can't wait to try both of these. Thank you!
How lovely it looks Christine. Been following along, made four Christmas cards using up flakes and sheets I've had for ages. Now will do some leaves too. Thanks for all the inspiration. :)
I love watching your videos, you make lovely things. Is there any chance you would give a link to your distress oxide chart please. Keep up the wonderful card making 😊
I absolutely love watching your videos and they all look classy and simple - my only upset is that I then try and get the dies or embossing folders and I struggle to find them as some have been in your stash for sometime and hence discontinued. PS take no notice of negative comments on your FB or here you are brilliant and inspiring and I never miss one. I always look forward to seeing you do your next CAS card. Take care
The one thing which irritated me about designing for a craft magazine was that I had to use everything which was currently available at that time, I just like to use what I feel is the right thing to use, not something which is actually still available. I hope you can take inspiration from my work even if you can't obtain the exact items I have used! 😊😊😊
I’ve watched so many of your videos, you’ve become my best friend! I’m nuts about guilding flakes and have loads on the way… thanks for the inspiration. Love this card with the cardboard…now I’m in search of that! What am I to do?
It would be nice if you could make sure you are in frame when making your videos, as you were off screen most of the time and it was kinda hard to follow along. Love your video tips and I will surely be trying this technique.
As I don't have a camera operator I simply use my phone, controlled by my watch. Sometimes the magnification changes by movements of my wrist and whilst mid-project I'm more focused on what I'm actually doing rather than checking what my phone is doing. I do try to keep in shot but sadly don't always remember to check. I hope you still manage to get enough from my videos to be of help!
Another lovely card Chris, and watching your thought process is so helpful. I wondered if the remainder of the gilded square from which you die cut the leaf, could be used on another card with the negative shape filled somehow. Maybe with more of the flattened corrugated cardboard? A really good video, thanks.
