    I have resisted the whole foiling craze (despite the high impact it makes) because of the expense of the machine and dies - just not going there. BUT your video and the calm, careful way you walk through the various processes make it seem SO do-able, I’m going to give this a try. Thank you for your tips, time and effort. The cards are lovely as is your manner and voice. I have subscribed!

      Thank you so much Laurel! I know what you mean about the high cost of the machine foiling. I do have the machine, but the plates just keep getting more expensive it seems. I hope you have lots of fun with these foils - just be prepared for some flyaway mess from the gilding flakes if you get those 😄. And thank you for subscribing! 💕💕

    All of your cards are stunning. A lot of times I make a background, but then I can't come up with ideas as to how to turn it into a card. Could you show us your thought process for your finished cards?

      Thank you so very much Bonnie! And I love your idea about making a video on how to turn backgrounds into cards. I’ve actually had the same idea in the back of my mind for quite a while now as I have an enormous box of “backgrounds”, and I had thought I probably wasn’t alone in that. 😂. I just haven’t found the courage to tackle that box, but I’ll try to get that done and turn it into a video. 😄💕💕

    I’m so glad I came across your video. I am not willing to spend the high dollar on a foiling machine and your techniques seem easy enough to do. Thank you so much for sharing. I have subscribed to your channel. I do have a laminator. Did you use parchment paper on top when running it through the laminator? Thanks again!

    • @KarensKardzz

      Hi Laura, thank you so much for your comment and for subscribing! I’m sorry to take so long to get back to you, but we’re travelling in Europe at the moment. I did use parchment paper with one cardstock shim for the first pass, and then I do a second pass in the parchment paper without the shim. I find that helps prevent things (eg. glitter) from moving around inside the pouch. I’ve tried doing it without the parchment, but found I was losing my embellishments inside the laminator, so wouldn’t recommend that! 😂💕💕

    Hello, great video. I’m a total novice and this helps a lot. What type of paper are you using to run the foil/card thru the laminator (baking, wax, etc.)? TIA.

    • @KarensKardzz
      @KarensKardzz  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Mirna, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I used parchment paper to run the foiled card through my laminator. The parchment paper actually came with my laminator and it’s thinner than the parchment paper I use for baking. Lately though, I’ve been using a piece of acetate folded in half and using that as my carrier. It seems to work really well. I hope that helps! 💕💕

    I saw a video where the negative piece of foil was placed inside a clear laminator pouch and run through a laminator. Then it was trimmed down to fit the card front ❤️

    When you say leave the glue to dry is that completely dry or just tacky?

    • @KarensKardzz
      @KarensKardzz  4 дня назад

      Hi Angela, those glues will only dry tacky, so generally, when they turn from a milky white to clear, they are ready for the foil. I hope that helps, but if not, let me know. 😄❤️

      Thank you Sharon! I’m not sure if the Mod Podge dries sticky? If it does, it might work. I’d suggest trying a little on some scrap cardstock and see what happens. 😄💕💕

    SO gorgeous Karen! I have never tried using foil flakes, now I want to. Also, you mentioned using a spray adhesive for the left over foil sheets. I don't have good luck with the adhesive sprays but which one would you recommend?

    • @KarensKardzz
      @KarensKardzz  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much Darcy! I’ve been using the E6000 spray and it seems to work quite well. I try to give it some time to dry before doing too much with it ( maybe 15 to 30 minutes). I bought mine at Michael’s here in Canada, but I think you can also get it on Amazon. I hope that helps and have fun with the foiling! 😄💕💕

      @@KarensKardzz Thanks and one more quick question.. what do you find works the best for smoothing down the foil over the spray adhesive? I'll check Amazon for it.

    • @KarensKardzz
      @KarensKardzz  2 года назад

      Hi Darcy, I’m so sorry I didn’t see this earlier! I usually use my bone folder to give the foil some extra pressure. I find it also helps to bring out a bit more shine when the foil is pressed. But I don’t use too much force as sometimes that makes the sticky glue somehow rise to the top. I’m not sure if that’s what’s really happening, but it seems like it to me. 😂

    • @KarensKardzz
      @KarensKardzz  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Judy, I bought mine off Amazon several years ago. It was only around $25 and is made by Scotch. It works well for me, but I have heard others say that the Heidi Swapp Minc machine is better than a laminator. Just a thought… 😊❤️
