Very impressive for such a small piece of kit! I watched several reviews and many say it's not good for field recording. PROVED WRONG! ha. Wonderful recordings. So good to see and hear real world reviews. Thanks
@@Kellysnorthshore thanks Kelly. Totally agree. I think it would prove too noisy for quiet ambiences where distant birds are chirping for example - the self noise would probably overpower these subtle sounds. I’d opt for a zoom F3 and external mics for this sort of thing though. I’m hoping to explore this further in a couple more videos soon - something more mature based and hopefully a comparison video between this and its predecessor the H2N. I’ve not had time to do those yet but hopefully should get around to it soon.
Very nice clean sounds! My Official H2 Essential windjammer should arrive tomorrow! Should be easier to manage those top buttons! Thanks for this! Also have the same MOVO Shotmount!
@@soundwise you’re welcome mate. Yeah that was annoying me I have to admit. I might have to get the official one when it’s available here in the UK. I’ve not managed to find it yet so this has to do in the meantime haha. It is annoying though taking it off and putting it back on all the time. In the end I tried pressing down on the deadcat on the left hand side to press the record button but I kept accidentally switching the mics instead. Really irritating haha. Great sounding device though. Also the movo shock mount is great. I actually had a rycote one at one stage that was more expensive, but I’ve actually found the movo one seems to do more to reduce handling noise in my opinion.
Excellent samples, thanks! I have been concerned that the sound might be a bit thin but that certainly does not seem to be the case. I ordered mine back in November but Amazon have failed even to dispatch it three times now. I think i will give up with them and try elsewhere.
@@Ozpeter you’re really welcome. I think it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite recorders I have to be honest. There’s a lot of versatility to it. Sorry to hear about the issues with Amazon, that must be hugely frustrating. Fingers crossed you managed to get your hands on one soon.
@@SecretLevel so the deadcat I’m using is actually by radius windshields. This is the tascam X6 deadcat - but it seems to work really well with the H2 Essential too. The grip I am using is by rycote. I could listen to that first Class 66 all night. Such a good sound.

Eastleigh train station is not an architectural gem, unlike a lot of Zoom field recorders that are little gems and do a great job. Nice recordings 👍
@@soundhobo totally agree haha. It’s a good place for getting sounds, but not the most appealing train station to admire haha.
Sounds good mate. Are you happy with it overall ?
@@LookingForSounds thanks mate. I’m really enjoying it I have to say. I can’t wait to get some more bits done with it and try some different things.
@@EQAVOX Cool, cheers. May pick one up in the new year in that case. Seems like a no brainer and a bit of a fun recorder for the money. Thanks.

@@EQAVOX Just after you replied kindly about my Amazon problem, they told me that it has now actually been sent! You clearly have a special influence!
@ amazing news haha
Can you share what deadcat you use and what is that little tripod name?
@@SecretLevel so the deadcat I’m using is actually by radius windshields. This is the tascam X6 deadcat - but it seems to work really well with the H2 Essential too.
The grip I am using is by rycote. It’s great because the foam helps reduce handling noise:
www.wexphotovideo.com/rycote-soft-grip-extension-handle-1589902/?cpgnid=18007676301&adext=&account=853-353-2386&campaign=&group=&mkwid=_dm&pcrid=&kword=&match=&plid=&pgrid=&ptaid=&si=&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD6dWBdB5uXP5SJHmHkuJjjgKOCVk&gclid=Cj0KCQiA9667BhDoARIsANnamQa_xFCqiNLgCi7Mo7THfIFD06KWtZLum0Dq8c83m6ixLu12anDnplcaApzLEALw_wcB
Between that and the recorder is the movo shock mount - again to help reduce handling noise:
www.amazon.co.uk/Movo-SMM5-B-Universal-Microphone-Portable/dp/B07FSXBYRW/ref=asc_df_B07FSXBYRW?mcid=b20f7b8b43093e85b64be00f068c5b10&hvocijid=9928598462803767431-B07FSXBYRW-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9928598462803767431&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045783&hvtargid=pla-2281435177138&psc=1&gad_source=1
Then there’s some of these to help connect it all together:
