Nothing better than New Thingys!!!! LOL, great video and sound! really enjoy my x8, great series of recorders, just wish they were a bit more robust, really have to baby them! oh well, always more thingys out there :) :) !!!!
@@VOByRobbins oh I totally agree mate. They are amazing recorders, but could do with feeling a bit more sturdy - perhaps some metal in them. I’ve dropped my X6 twice now and was incredibly surprised it survived - these were quite brutal falls on rocks too from around 4 feet when my old tripod failed. I think I just got extremely lucky on those occasions though, somehow it survived both with no scratches, bumps, scrapes or damage haha. Definitely luck I think 🤔.
@@EQAVOX I think the "next" thingy you're looking at is the Tascam FR-AV2 it's gotten rave reviews-- price is reasonable, but doesn't have built in mics -- but that means getting a new thingy, and I'm right there with you LOL
I've noted on watching back that there are some instances where the audio skips for a microsecond on some of the Ilfracombe videos. All these videos and sounds were recorded in extremely windy conditions, and I had to locate areas where the wind wasn't so violent to record sounds. These little "blips" in the audio are sudden, very strong blasts of air getting through to the microphones. Wind protection can only go so far, and these blasts sadly caused some minor blips here and there. the fact that I could get anything at this location in these conditions was nothing short of miraculous, so I'll take those little blips with a pinch of salt.
Lovely and peaceful sounds and video. Great stuff. Saw the new Tascam thingy but looks a bit too much like the Zoom F3 thingy for it to be worth the money. Don't know much about it though, so must watch some reviews. Saying that, I'm sure if you buy it, it'll be one of your favourite recorders !! ;o))
@@EQAVOX thanks mate! As I also discovered with my X6, the XY position gives a really nice stereo image. And I always wonder why this isn’t the case with the Rode NT4 stereo mic. As it seems, the polar patterns are a bit different…

@@LookingForSounds thank you 🙏
Very nice recordings, thanks for sharing! Question: what array is that on the first section with the internal mics - XY or wide position?
@@oli77sch you’re welcome mate cheers for watching. The mics were in the XY position for all of these recordings with the internal mics.
