What makes this rendition great ! disclaimer, this is my personal opinion as an amateur. Many fantastic musicians sing covers of great songs and try and emulate exact tempo, orchestration, key, melody etc. They produce a decent rendition but it’s like a xerox copy or karaoke , and one might as well listen therefore to the original instead. There are very few who take a legendary melody and produce a rendition which reflects their own interpretation and influences. The product thus created is a fresh piece of art and even though it pays homage to the original in a genuine way, it also becomes a stand alone masterpiece that can be admired on its own merits, provided that the performance is high class and the interpretation is based on a thorough understanding of musicality and performance.
Music is such an art form where legends like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, RD Burhman, Mozart, Bach have all taken inspirations from melodies originally produced by others and created very special works with their own style infused and apparent in a beautiful way. What you have created here is so special that it should be produced on platforms like Spotify in addition to a lot of your other works. I cannot be grateful enough that we have access through RUclips for free and the icing on the cake is the insight you share at the end in your brief conversation. While listening to this song, there were moments where I couldn't figure out or cared to know whether it's you or Mehdi Hassan Saab singing. अप्रतिम! गझल आणि मन - दोन्हींचं उलगडणं सहजसुंदर. This is the 'Mehdi Hasan' गझल. Faiz is said to usually refrain from presenting it even at मुशायराs, saying people should listen to it only from Khan Sahab!
सी. रामचंद्रांचं एखादं composition तुमच्याकडून ऐकायला खूप आवडेल. वसंतराव आणि चितळकर लहानपणी एकत्र संगीत शिकत, आणि प्रसंगी मूक चित्रपट नागपुरात आला कि त्यात तबला-पेटीवर पार्श्वसंगीत देखील वाजवत असं वाचनात आलय. त्यांच्या काही आठवणी तुमच्या आजोबांकडून वा वडिलांकडून ऐकल्या असतील तर नक्की share करा. तुम्ही लताबाईंची गाणी अावडीने आणि अप्रतिम गाताच, मला वाटतं मराठीत बाळासाहेब आणि खळे, तर हिंदीत मदन मोहन, चितळकर आणि सलिल चौधरी यांनी त्यांच्याकडून सर्वोत्तम काम करून घेतलय. या पैकी शेवटच्या दोन संगीतकारांची गाणी तुमच्याकडून ऐकण्याची खूप इच्छा आहे. या आधी सलिलदांच्या 'मेरे मन के दिये' (परख) ची फर्माइश केली होती. चितळकरांचं तुम्हाला आवडणारं कोणतंही लता-गीत विवेचनासह ऐकायला खूप आवडेल.
खूप खूप सुंदर राहुलजी ! आजची ही गजल मी पहिल्यांदाच ऐकतेय. खुपसे उर्दू शब्द कळलेच नाही, अर्थात कळणं यापलीकडे काहीतरी तुम्हाला शांतावत राहतं हे महत्वाचं नाही का! या माध्यान्ही तुम्हाला ऐकणं आणि बाहेर भूलोकीच्या गंधर्वानं (कोकीळेनं) लावलेला सूर... अहाहा! काही क्षण अलौकिक असतात ते शब्दात व्यक्त करता येत नाही.. असंच काहीसं हे! ह्या कोरोनाकाळाचे म्हणून आभार!🙏🌹
