    Hey Guys! John here with realtruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the Bushwacker Pocket Style Fender Flares onto this 2014 Chevy Silverado.
    As you can see here, our set comes complete with everything we need to get these on the truck. This is a four piece set, but you can see that the rear fender flare. And, I wanna point out something to you guys. I want you to take a look at this rear fender flare. One of the really cool things about this fender flare compared to a lot of the other ones is you can see this notched spot right here. That is actually notched out for your gas cap cover on your pickup. Bushwacker has actually cut that out. I've held this up on the truck. It matches up nice. Looks good. So, and I'll show you that when we get it on the truck.
    Also, you have your front flare. And as you can tell here, this is a really nice-looking flare, as well. And comes with your rubber gasket that I'm going to show you how to put this on. It goes around the sides of this, helps protect these edges on these flares. Also, we have these imitation ... well, they're real bolts, but they give it an imitation, makes it look like they're bolted on. Those actually are gonna go in all of these little spots here on the truck. And they come in these packs. I just opened one up to show you what they look like. Plus your instruction sheet, some really cool stickers to put on your truck when it's all done. And, when you take a look at these, you can see these things are nice smooth finish and they also are paint-able. So guys, if you wanted to paint these things up to match your truck, you could do that. It's not real hard to do.
    Next thing we need to do, then, is actually get started on prepping the truck to get these on. So, let's get that done.
    In order for us to install our new Bushwacker Pocket Style Fender Flares, what we need to do is we need to remove this factory piece that comes on here, this trim piece. And that's pretty simple to do. All we need to do is take off the two screws on the side here. I've already actually taken these screws out because I had some mud flaps on here that I took off getting ready for this. But, then once you have those off, then all you've gotta do is just pull it out a little bit. And it'll come out of these clips that are in behind it. And then there's another one on the bottom, you slide it forward. And then you can just pull it right out of there. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

    It's all good (and looks great) but drilling all those holes is a FAIL. Not only does this leave a big room for error, it also compromised the truck. I know it's about the sale and selling the flares, but you just started rust and corrosion issues on that nice truck. Either the Bushwacker flares design is flawed or at the very least should be redesigned for no drilling. If this is not possible, then you, the installer, should take some rust prevention measures to protect the customers truck. But that would compromise the "simple & quick" install video your going to get the money for these flares.

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  8 лет назад +10

      +Raymond Broderick Great idea! If you are doing this at home on your own, some rust prevention would be a great plan, I would suggest a can of spray on undercoating applied to the backside of the fender covering the screws. Keep in mind, however, that we do these videos mostly to show you guys how to install this stuff. The extra little things that you do in addition to the product installation is solely personal preference and up to you guys. This is, by the way, a great forum to share some of those little tidbits of knowledge and ideas with each other. Keep up the great work.

    Being from a state that heavily salts the roads, I feel like putting some form of protection like paint-on rhino liner on the inside of the flare would be a good idea so that any trapped moisture/debris that gets behind the flares from the wheels kicking it up doesn't sit on the truck for an indeterminate amount of time and potentially develop into rust.

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  7 лет назад

      Ferrinflame not a bad idea, however, have you seen this: www.cabelas.com/product/Trimbrite-Bodyguard-Paint-Protection-Film/746765.uts?searchPath=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D734095080%26CQ_search%3Dtrimbrite%26CQ_st%3Db it may be a better alternative to rhino lining your fenders. I bought a FJ cruiser 2008 that has them, and the wind catches them at times and bangs them against the body. I noticed that the trim is gone, if it was ever there, was wondering if it can be ordered somewhere? Was thinking if I could put that back on maybe it would stop vibrating against the body some.

    • @Realtruck

      The trim can most likely be ordered through the manufacturer of the fender flares. Unfortunately, we would not have that replacement part available for you.

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  8 лет назад

      Nick Rotolo the best way I have found to do it is get a buddy to help hold them tightly in place on the truck, mark all the holes and then drill them out. When attaching them got someone to hold them tightly in place as well and the screws should go right in. Hey jmanny be careful with fender flares I installed Rough Country on my truck and a year late dirt has built up and scratched the paint around the rubber gasket (dirt builds there)
      I don’t know if this one has a better seal or what also be sure to paint the drill holes if you drill it to not rust
      Just my two scents I’m really disappointed with RC about the gasket

      Hey man anyone who buys an American truck deserves a heads up
      But yea I’m gonna wear my flares for another 4-5 years then get rid of them probably and get new fenders (all 4)
      2 fenders were messed up to begin with so yea it’ll be a couple grand but my truck deserves it
      Maybe I’ll get in a wreck and insurance will pay who knows
      I had them installed professionally and worst experience of my life cuz they drilled into my truck when I told them 4-5 times not too and its bolt on so I’m ready to just accept it then get new fenders

If you want more coverage, check out the Cut-Out Flares They give you 5" in the front and 4.75" in the rear. Though please keep in mind that the Cut-Out Flares require cutting on your truck. Not if you get rough country flares
      But I warn you if you decide to get flares make sure to put electrical tape or silicone behind the flares
      The gasket they provide you isn’t enough to prevent scratching from dirt debris build up which digs into the paint lightly (vibration from driving)
      Do not skip what I told you if you get flares I have scratches on mine they’ll easily buff out but still annoying

      +nitrosavy Hi Nitro, The holes drilled are very minimal and the flares are held in by self taping screws. The rivets on the flares are for looks only and do not bolt in the vehicle. It is held in my 3-5 small self taping screws into the inner lip of you wheel well. We have been running these on a 2012 F250 since new in North Dakota and we have had not issues with rusting. If you want to go without screws or drilling we do offer flares that use factory holes and clips to be held in place. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

    These fake fender flares are a fucking sad joke. They will just cause dirt and debris to get trapped in between and cause damage. Why can't one of these companies just make a fender with bigger flares built in? I would rather pay for a REAL fender with REAL flares built in. Not this fake plastic double sided sticky tape garbage.

      ***** they don't screw on. those bolts are for looks only. It uses double sided sticky tape. how dare you lie to my face like that. I'm not some stupid sheep like most people. These Bushwacker fender flares are fake and uses sticky tape. Same as the factory stuff GM uses. Go ahead, remove your factory fender flares and tell me I'm wrong. I'm waiting................

      Kenshin Himura they do screw on and yes those bolts are for looks. The screws go on the underside into the lip of the fender. If you had actually watched the video you would know that. Just for the record I just recently removed the factory ones from a 2014 GMC 1500 and they used screws and clips. Dude! What is with you and this sticky tape thing?

      ***** That funny because every LLY andLBZ uses sticky tape. even the door guards are sticky tape. Maybe the truck you worked on uses screws because it's newer. 90% of all trucks used sticky tape.
