    Hey bro, Thanks so much for this video. I am in the starting processes of restoring my 95 Chevy C2500 (5.7 not a Duramax) and one of the big things I am worried about is repairing the body, which is in bad shape. Rocker panels, cab corners, and doors are all rusted very bad and the bed is non existent and polishing the frame luckily that is still solid just has a lot of surface rust that I can see so far. Even though I am not quit there this video gave me a lot of knowledge that I did not have. I am a mechanic and don't know squat about making body repairs but this video eased a lot of my worry and gave me a little confidence. If anyone has any tips on good places to get new body panels, paint and such I would greatly appreciate it. Keep being awesome!

      I use oil- it wicks into the whole closed panel when sprayed or squirted in. And will keep any repair like in this vid from ever needing to be done again. Presence of oil= can't oxidize, at least not from the inside.. Mike

      @@mtwseneca what type of oil to be exact sir?

    • @mtwseneca
      @mtwseneca 2 года назад +2

      @@dameankelderman Anything is better than nothing, inside the closed panels (and inside closed sections of the frame), I use a squirt can with a flexible spout that has clean oil in it (because that is what is in the oil-can which I use a lot for other stuff). The oil will "Creep" to cover spots you don't actually get the oil on to.
      Other people have squirted used oil. On exposed parts, a waxy oil is necessary to stay on longer. I read you can actually make it by melting old candles into oil. But I still have some Tectyl (like Cosmoline) that I add some oil to to spray with a HF sandblast gun on the underneath.

      After the rockers are cut, you need to have sprayed weld thru primer on the back side and in the spot weld holes after theyre drilled. The weld itself will still rust on the inside eventually, so the best you can do is spray cavity wax between the inner/outer rocker.

    I would replace my rocker with the one you took off. That’s clean!

    Late comment, but where do you buy the rocker panel from? You guys said keystone, but they only sell to vendors. I live in Hawaii and parts are a pain...

    You really should've done the inner rockers, sand blast and rust preventative will only work for so long in our states. Plus when you do the inner rockers it actually makes the job easier.

      I'd also suggest using a weldable primer, when doing rust repair work.

      Should've used the body line on the cab corner as your paint blending area.

    What did you use for primer? Was it a high build?
