@David Seriff Certain aspects of it. I think a lot of it was the ideas of all of that stuff happening to the main character. I guess I put myself in his shoes a little too much or something. I don't know. Martyrs definitely did a better job on multiple fronts. It was a much more grounded sense of horror. Very disturbing and surprisingly thought-provoking. I don't know how I've managed to do it, but I actually haven't seen a single one of his films... I started Antichrist and was immediately sucked in. I really need to finish it. I know enough about him to appreciate his creativity though. He's among the better directors working today for sure. I just wish he wasn't so full of himself sometimes haha. It's a bit of a deterrent for me. But hey, I guess you can act however you want when you've achieved what he has. Some of my favorites are the Coen Bros, David Fincher, Shane Carruth, Stanley Kubrick, Deni Villeneuve, Jacques Audiard, Paul Thomas Anderson, Park Chan-wook... I could go on, but you get the idea. I'll be sure to check out more Von Trier soon, though.
To be honest this more sad than creepy.Pets have a great impact on people and it can be hard to let go.His actions aren’t right but still you can tell his in pain
@Thijmen Idk to be honest 2 scenes that made me feel bad for him is when the cat “shrine” thing was shown it just showed he was lonely and his cat was the only thing he loved.Also when he’s sitting alone it just pretty much shows his lonely and needs sympathy from someone

If killing 9 strangers could bring them back I think the agony of losing your child would make you at least consider it. It's not right at all, AT ALL, but you definitely have else empathy for strangers than for your child, and your broken heart. It's understandable, and we can feel sad for the grief this man must feel while also not condoning and disagreeing with the things he chooses to do to cope. Both can be true.

MIDNIGHTPRODIGY hey! there's a short film (on the DVD and blu releases). It's not a prequel but a separate film we used to raise money for the feature.. There's no sequel. It might be the fan film "Cat Sick Blues Sick Blues" (not by us) you're seeing.
I recommend this knife film AKA slasher, to any horror fan! However if you're expecting a mainstream slasher film with all the rules! You will be disappointed! If you're not accustomed to Australian horror films! There style is more unconventional, they don't fallow the formula of American Horror which makes them refreshing to watch!
I remember reading a description for this movie and it was right, in real life there are many ridiculous people that care more for the life of an animal over a human being.

Idk I feel like animals (and children) are off limits and people find it more disturbing when they die because they represent a sort of innocence. They haven’t developed any form of wicked cognitive nature. So seeing them being killed is more unsettling than say some random adult I know nothing about where my subconscious will validate the death by convincing myself that they could have been a “bad person” or “deserving” of the death like the media has desensitized us to to make a traumatic event like death make more sense and make us feel better. Whereas I could never convince myself to feel like an animal or a child “deserves” to die, though. Does that make sense or do I sound crazy? lol it’s just my opinion I guess. Not saying I care more for animals over humans, but my brain automatically cringes more if I see..idk, a video of a cat or dog being hit by a car versus some guy skateboarding or something.
