Hey, was I in the same country, I would definitely let you work on my passat b6 2.0 TDI. Sadly I am not and I am now going from one mechanic to another, spending big bucks for such an old car - still, no help on horizon. Firstly, I had troubles shifting to first and reverse gear with the clutch fully engaged. Tried to lubricate the linkage joints, but no help. After some time, even with the clutch fully engaged, I could not shift out of 1st or reverse gear. The worst came after when the car actually tried to move when I was in 1st or reverse with the clutch fully engaged. Than pretty much all sounded like a faulty clutch (especially the third symptom, since whatever can be happening in the gearbox, the clutch needs to disconnect it from the wheels and car cannot be trying to move). So I got the clutch replaced (including the slave cylinder and flywheel). Couple of minutes of driving and the same symptoms reappeared. After that, I got the master cylinder replaced, seemed pretty logical since the pedal also felt a bit "jumpy" from time to time it did not exactly follow my foot when disengaging the cluch, but moved akwardly slowly and then jumped. It did not help and in addition, the mechanic damaged the wiring so I constanly had a fault reappearing (clutch valve implausible signal). So I went to another mechanic so he can take a look and find the cause. He again, swapped the master cylinder because of the implausible signal, but he could not unveil the real issue. He said that there is no leak or anything similar. Very important point is that after I start the car, the clutch works fine. However, after like 15 minutes of driving, changing gears, it starts acting that way and it gets worse with more driving. Again, after driving in one gear for a longer time or leaving the car over night, it becomes "normal" until I drive it a little and use the clutch. The hydraulic system was bled as well. To me, it sounds like some component (e.g. high pressure hose expands under heat and then becomes normal) or something else that causes loss of presure in the hydraulic system. I am desparate, it already easily costed me a half of the cars worth. Please, any idea?
The pressure plate is worn. Once the metal gets hot the springs gets weaker therefore not fully disengaging the clutch. Replace the whole lock, stock and Barrel
I just go by feel. ., If it’s stretch bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 90• turn on top. If it’s solid bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 45• turn on top. Thanks for the support. ✨🍻🍻
I’ve got a 2007 golf with the same lump and gearbox, it’s got 199k on the clock and the clutch pedal travel is more or less none existent but does have good bite tho
Lovely job... is that a performance flywheel and clutch? Love the video and attention to detail with cleaning and greasing.. your techniques are awesome... wonder how much you would charge?? 😂
Great video😊 I also had a non SAC clutch from Sachs original, but the new one I ordered is a Luk-SAC clutch. On my parts it looks like the new parts vs. old parts have some different meassurements; fingers on the diaphragm spring is sticking more far out from the pressure plate than the old one. Have you had any concerns with this? Or is it just the design that fools me, and the total distance from the crank to the fingers is the same as the old one? Is it common to change from non SAC to SAC clutch?
Thanks for your reply😀 The new parts is a Luk kit with clutch and DMF. And today i saw that the original Sachs clutch and DMF on my car looks to be a SAC clutch after all. I just didnt see it.( Different design than the Luk clutch). So things look the same as in your video. If its a Sachs kit replaced by a Luk kit? (My concerns where about the two kits looking so different).
Great job dude. That crappy little tin plate cover behind the o/s drive shaft cup with the 10mm bolt though....!, good thing you knew it was there, sneaky bastards at VW would have me fighting with that box all day for the sake of a hidden 10mm !. Haha.

I just got the whole new kit like a month ago without any change.
Hello! What you do at 8:05,it s necessary, if i want to remove the gearbox,or i can remove it,without making that? Thanks!
Everything in video is necessary. Anything you wanna try differently I have not attempted. Sometimes you just have to try your own way.
@@WMCS I understand... But that flange must be taken down, because there is no place to remove the box? Thank you very much!
This guy is a human clutch robot
I love it .,, life wouldn’t be the same otherwise 😁🍻🍻
Yet another excellent job Kevin
You are the freakin man Kev..🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
What a smooth and clean work.
🍺🍺🍺
You are brilliant & really Professional
Thank you Mohamed ✨✨
Do you torque the flywheel/pressure plate bolts or just know him tight to go with the gun? Great videos 👌🏻👌🏻
I just go by feel. .,
If it’s stretch bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 90• turn on top.
If it’s solid bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 45• turn on top.
Thanks for the support. ✨🍻🍻
Tapón del aceite puesto con una pistola de impacto ??? 😓😓
this dude is nothing without his milwaukee screw driver haha ... good work ^^
I’ve got a 2007 golf with the same lump and gearbox, it’s got 199k on the clock and the clutch pedal travel is more or less none existent but does have good bite tho
It’s definitely getting close to that time .., I’d say it’s the flywheel that’s slowly giving in ..,,
Another great job by Kevin top class👍👌👏👏👏
Good job man, many great things.
Great video
Thanks from France
Now time to put it through the paces, WHATS IT GOT STUNTMAN?!
It’s got everything you’d expect from a Passat 🍻✨✨
Great video, congratulation Master!
Cool as always all the best Shaun
Lovely job... is that a performance flywheel and clutch? Love the video and attention to detail with cleaning and greasing.. your techniques are awesome... wonder how much you would charge?? 😂
25:10 what will happend if we skip to do this cleaning? can it cause problems?
mmm.,, I don’t know. But it’s got a protective oil layer on top. It might eventually burn off.
Great video. One question: Is it necessary to remove the fluid from the gearbox?
Nice job en very instructive 👍👍
superb tutorial on how to do it right
car yoga at it's very best mate..'kin through it in.
Thanks for the feedback .✨🍻
Great video😊 I also had a non SAC clutch from Sachs original, but the new one I ordered is a Luk-SAC clutch. On my parts it looks like the new parts vs. old parts have some different meassurements; fingers on the diaphragm spring is sticking more far out from the pressure plate than the old one. Have you had any concerns with this? Or is it just the design that fools me, and the total distance from the crank to the fingers is the same as the old one? Is it common to change from non SAC to SAC clutch?
Do not fit it. It will not work.
It has to be one or another.
Either you fit a complete LUK Kit.
Or a complete Sachs kit.
With the new info, do you think the new complete Luk kit will fit?
59:00 still amazes me how those 3 tiny bolts dont break while driving fast or over bumpy roads.
Great job dude. That crappy little tin plate cover behind the o/s drive shaft cup with the 10mm bolt though....!, good thing you knew it was there, sneaky bastards at VW would have me fighting with that box all day for the sake of a hidden 10mm !. Haha.
It’s a right struggle getting the box out without removing that little shield. 😂😂.,, I learned the hard way many moons ago.
Profesional und respekt😁
Thanks for the support
El número 1...👌👌👌... The Number one
You are an iron man ! How you can do this ? I changed my clutch on fiat grande punto following your videos, but when I tryed to lift the gearbox with my body like you .. I lost !! So after I used a pallet truck an some piece of wood to lift the gearbox and I finisched the work but ... it was a hard job ! Top Kevin, I like very much your videos !
Ivan they are a bit heavy some of the boxes. But for a fiat I’d say it’s not so bad. But glad you managed to use some initiative to get it back on. Well done to you ✨✨✨🍻✨🍻✨
Great job! 👍 It helped me a lot.
Glad to know the video came in handy.
Hi mate is the slave cylinder on top of the gearbox as mine will not go in to gear but there is still pressure on the clutch pedel its tbe same car
Salut, encore une superbe vidéo, tu utilise quoi comme dégraissant ? nettoyant frein en bidon ou autre.
I'm intending having a go at my Alhambra clutch soon. Your vids have been a great help! The tracking will need doing once everything is back in place won't it?? How about a Sharan/Alhambra next time one comes up?! 👍
I will try and find one for you. But otherwise the engine and gearbox is exactly the same as this one .., no tracking will be required .., ✨✨🍻
@@WMCS Excellent, thank you. 👌👍
