Just a quick video to help people who are suffering with Black Screen after updating Nvidia Driver.
there is every four weeks a 500MB graphic driver update from Nvidia is this necessary?

Thanks so much. Seems the 12 May 2022 driver caused the same issue on my laptop. But the HDMI out to my monitor works, it just does not recognize my laptop screen. The driver you mentioned (456.71) did work and I was able to get it working again. However since the driver is from October 7, 2020 , I went to nvidia's site, entered my graphics card and downloaded the last version of the driver.

i did it without the Hotfix. Only used DDU and installed the update. Worked for me. Thank you for the tutorial. Nice Vid.
The link to the Hotfix inyh your description isn't working any more. I tried installing the latest Hotfix but I still get the Black screen
Thanks for this video. My black screen issue appeared during a Windows update on my Dell laptop. I found out all I had to do was unplug it & remove the battery. Once I put the battery back in & powered the laptop on ,the screen came back on and the update continued. I guess something went a little funny during the update. I called Microsoft & the battery removal was what I needed. :)

Sad to say I think our gpu is busted. If you can try anyway to undervolt/ubderclock before getting drivers might work. And then last effort would be to bake or heat gun it.

Nope the backlights of the laptop went out. Luckily I still had warranty but rather than fixing it they just fncking sent back the cash saying it wou,d be to much to fix

you just need to boot up your pc and when you get the black screen just hold the power button. do this 2-3 times

Tonight 17/02/2022...same thing happened again with my pc...as soon as i updated my card ,it gave me a warning of "Restart"...and then
1) Black screen ..
2) Even after 10 -15 force shutdown,i did not get windows's "Repair option"..
IT WAS COMPLETE BLACK
I tried diffrenet methods,then one succeeded just like previous time.
SOLUTION
1)COMPLETE TURN OFF YOUR PC..
2)Try different "Gpu hdmi port" or try different "Monitor HDMI port"
Or do both.
IF NONE OF THESE STEPS SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM..
Then one last solution
Unplug your hdmi...start your pc with motherboard inbuild dvi port...if you see light in your monitor...then wait untill,the desktop screen...then shutdown and re_attach you HDMI..
(To me ,it looks like a connection glitch of nvidia GPU's)

Okay but what if the screen does not work at all? No sound, no display, nothing is working. I installed a new driver last night and my laptop is completely useless
For those who did everything mentioned and still getting black screen after mobo logo!
Disclaimer~ Just backup your data using safe mode then do what i did.
First remove everything from your pc and see if it's not a hardware problem,
In my case i removed my sata cables changed ram slot, cleared cmos, etc and luckily i was able to boot!
After cleaning your components, burn a fresh iso file in pendrive and boot from it and if your windows boot then your pc is fixed by following the steps below.
1:Boot from the pendrive and install windows on your primary drive(don't connect your other drives) and format and delete everything from drive!(Including recovery and backup)
2: after installing windows if u boot into the windows then good (follow step 4), if not then restart your pc three times in a row that will force auto repair.
3. Then in repair options go in advanced and open change startup menu to boot into safe mode, boot from safe mode and press 5 for safe mode with connectivity. Then install ddu, and format every graphic driver from your pc (including phy engine).
3. Now restart your pc, if windows load then good, if not then long press power button for hard reset. Windows will again go in automatic repair and hopefully now your pc should be working!
4: After your windows is opend first of all just pause all the updates of windows, don't update anything, and install old drivers like 6months old or more! And pause there updates too!
5: Install everything in a single go that u want to install and then make a restore point just to be sure after that u are good to go!
This is my experience solving my issue for more than 20hours, it's most probably driver issue i just don't know which one is causing this problem!
Also install your chipset driver's and update your mobo bios :)

Hey I have a doubt. Iam playing Assassin's creed IV Black Flag. What happens is that in some games when my display driver gets off after some seconds the display will come. But when I play assassins creed IV Black Flag display of and when it returns the game will be closed automatically. It is very big problem. Will this solve that too
IF YOU HAVE A LAPTOP WITH MUX SWITCH ENABLE OPTIMUS!! IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ME! Updated the driver with enabled optimus and then disabled optimus again for max performance
i can only get 471 stable or below, all the newer drivers will randomly lose connection to monitor after few minute logging into windows 10. i tried everything, no idea

why can't nvidia trouble shoot this fucking issue and deliver a quality product. its bad enough we gotta shell out thousands every couple years for a new card the least they can do is not send out faulty updates that creates a headache afterwards with 0 support.
they only cares about shits like rtx 4090 and richass rtx users
When running the nvidia hotfix file and installing the nvidia driver my monitor turns black again...

Seems like there is really something wrong with the hardware in my case
Got it working for some weeks by dissasembling the card and heating the chip and then running a benchmark for a few hours
But it happened again, currently waiting for being able to do a proper reflow
How can i do that if my screen doesnt work?
Or you could just press windows key + ctrl + shift + b, and then it will load in like normal. Then just remove the driver afterward. I've had to do this on several occassions now cause it just automatically installs that driver after a clean install.

Had Black screen issues after HD crashed and had to redo MBR, yes did follow one of your videos, and just used the DDU programme as my home build PC is 'mature' and uses a ancient Nvidia GeoForce GTX 550Ti the last driver update being from 2018! Reloaded the driver and a happy 69yr old.... Cheers.👍☺

I was in the middle of the driver install browsing on Google and my screen went black. Waited for a while and nothing. Force restarted the PC and still black screen the entire time - not even the windows logo shows. I can hear the welcome sound playing in the background after boot. Tried connecting to my motherboard for display and still the same thing. Any help???

When i install my graphics drivers i have blue screen PAGE FAULT (nvlddmkm.sys) and my pc restart and when i install my druvers in safe mode i can't start my pc help

Almost every time I download gpu driver my screen went black!
I had to delete gpu driver to make it work again still don't how to fix it tho..
@@lilpogchamp4904 when installing the gpu drivers it goes black screen, restart in safe mode, delete the gpu drivers and install the drivers again in safe mode but from device management and once they are installed now if you restart the pc normally, like this it worked for me

@@kristphercoco6256 You bet it did. Forced me to do a hard reset of my PC in order to get the monitor to recognize a signal. Simply switching monitor on/off did nothing. Had to hard reset which isn’t good on the hardware or software.
I look for videos to fix my black screen, the first step is about something showing up on your screen. Do other people get this or am I the only one who actually has a black screen?
I've formatted my entire laptop but still didn't resolve the issue and now it finally worked again, thanks for the helpful vid! It resolved mine from just the hotfix without needing the DDU

I have a similar but different issue.. I have a GE1660i card... I never get a black screen on start up but I do get it randomly. It does seem to always be upon waking up my monitor. I learned the comp. is not frozen... it is just graphics card / driver issue. If I switch to extended display both displays will show up.. then I just switch back to single display and all is well. What do you think about this? I can live with it... but would love to fix it if possible...
My problem is a little bit different after I updated my drivers I don’t get a black screen but I get a screen that’s flashing blue and black and that’s all it does even when I went into safe mode with networking. But I see nothing other than a flash in screen so I can proceed

thats only a temporary fix, black screen keeps appearing on restart each nvidia driver update, I even updated my windows to 11 and my bios and no change, only ,fix, I could do is to either stay with the base driver or to set the nvidia as the main / only gpu in the bios so the integrated intel card is not even showing anymore and Im only using the nvidia one with whicever driver I want. Its the nvidia driver that causes the intel gpu to get a black screen on start
Brian if you can get one, can you do a review/comparison of the EVGA XR1 Capture Card vs the AGPTek VG0020 you use. Pros & Cons of both. It'd make a interesting video.

Followed all ur steps up until enabling safe mode with networking instead of taking me to safe mode my screen still stayed black I can see my cursor and I’ve tried many different key combinations and still nothing :/
the hotfix isnt available anymore. idk how im supposed to fix it. ive got it booted to safe mode with networking but without the hotfix being available i dont wanna install something and mess it up anymore

My issue here is that I can't ever boot into anything.. its just a black screen with no backlight. The only button that works it's the power button. No ports work either.

My Nextbook 11 Windows 10 was randomly going black screen. I ran command prompt as Administrator and typed in chkdsk/f and pressed enter. It fixed several things, including the black screen.
Halo Infinite just asked me to update my Lenovo Legion 5's Nvidia Geforce GTX and now I have a black screen. To be more specific I can still see my internet browser window and that operates normally. However, everything behind it including my desktop is black and I cant interact with it or the start bar, which doesn't exist anymore. Neither of the links you posted work either.
My PC used to be no post earlier, and display used to directly come in windows mode. Now after Nvidia drivers faailed, no post and no windows display. Screen is blank. I can do remote desktop but nothing is getting solved from that as for troubleshooting i need to get post where my screen stays blank. Please help.. M in serious trouble

i have black screens if i game. After a couple minutes my Screen turns black, the Fans of the GPU ramps up like crazy, and nothing respondes. Basically i have to restart my Pc. it happens only if i game.
The hotfix version is not compatible with my GPU, can I still install it?
Don't think you should if it's not compatible with your gpu but that's just my guess

Such a life saving video since 70% of my screen was a dark green and flickering and I wanted to smash it with my keyboard, the only thing that stopped me was the dark green suddenly went away so i could click shit

I'm running driver version 456.55 and GeForce Experience is saying that my driver is up to date.
I have also not experienced black screen.
The driver version 456.71 is the Nvidia Studio Driver and the driver version 456.55 is the Game Ready driver.
Not sure if this matter much?

I don’t understand, when I do this it asks me to restart my pc, then it won’t restart because steam vr is still running in the background, so I have to force restart, then when it does boot back up, it’s in safe mode and didn’t Finnish the install. But when I do express install it doesn’t require restart at all, it’s the same things you checked in the video

What do I do after all that and the screen still blacks out? I uninstalled the driver and went into safe mode, but it still blacked out and then froze and refuses to work.

This doesnt work for me. Im stuck black screem with cursor. If I force recovery safe mode and safe mode with networking both go to black screen. It wont recognize my media creation tool either. Id like to wipe and reinstall windows 10 but I dont have that option
Attempted to install an Nvidia GeForce 210 card into my Optiplex 790 w/Windows 10 and my screen stayed black. I changed the slot from the blue to the black and the screen stayed black. Did two force shut downs and both times it started up normally. Is this normal???
