We need those in Europe, even though they don't quite compete with Mercs or BMWs. Non-german cars provide a kick in the back for the german brands, so that they don't feel too comfortable on the market. I hate monopoly.
Drive one then make that statement. I have driven Mercs and BMWs and this car out handles and performs them HANDS DOWN! My wife and I just bought one and it is without question the best car either of us have ever driven.
There are a few European cars that look good, but they aren't made in Germany! Cadillac is kicking ASS. They made a commitment to dominate every category in each class. They out perform, out handle and with a little effort they can dominate in luxury. The CT6 resulted in 27 patents including the process of welding aluminum and steel. America is back in the game. You can get on board or stand on the sidelines as it passes by. It's about time the German auto industry gets a kick in the ass.
Tom, love your vids-you offer just enough geek to satisfy my fix, and enough practical data to keep me well informed. Easily the best auto reviews on RUclips.
I picked up 4 months after release. I got the twin turbo car rides very well so smooth and good acceleration, it's not 0-60 2seconds fast, but it's good. In my opinion Cadillac did a great job with this one. Last Cadillac I had was a 2003 DeVille and that car gave me a shit ton of problems.
I've been spotting more and more of these lately. They seem to be getting popular with small business owners that I assume are looking for a bargain car for making a statement of success while getting back and forth to the factory/warehouse in. It's large and looks aggressive while being stately at the same time-it looks nice. The styling seems to be influenced from late 60's/early 70's eldo's and early 80's Sevilles. It's mid $50k's starting price is also quite appealing. Nice ride IMO.
You know, I did find it helpful. There was a jogger wearing all black with no reflectors that ran out into the street about 20 yards in front of me. I would never have seen her without the night vision (probably wouldn't have hit her though, even without pedestrian auto braking). Great for areas with large animals on the highway. Yes, I'm enjoying the ELR. The carbon fiber trim has a unique braided quality to it, great to look at. Need to put gas in it soon though. It will be my second tank in 18 months.
The CT6 is a little smaller than the competition S-class and 7-series, but bigger than the E-class and 5-series...so it kinda makes it an inbetweener. I think I would get the upcoming Lexus LS500, which is similar in size to the class and similar value to the CT6. Can't wait for your review on that.
Love your videos Mr Tom..!! You make me wanna to purchase one.!! I'm a proud American auto mechanic.!! Some people want horsepower but in my opinion Caddys were made for cruising not racing you buy a sports bike or corvette stingray or dodge charger for that.!! And even the old skool Cadillac s.. And like you said who wants to drive a gas guzzler these days and times..!! I'm waiting for the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Supercruise platinum edition..!! Have you seen that..? I can't wait until you do a review on that model..? Next fall..!!
truly class leading, this blows away anything from Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, Buick, or Acura in build quality, material quality, and performance. well done Cadillac.
I don't think you liked that car very much, but I freaking love its elegant yet aggressive design, it's gorgeous. Looks like they compromised on the interior tho, not cool.
I can see how the car dips and dives as it goes over the pavement cracks and bumps. Too bad you can't choose your ride dynamics and set it to comfort if that is what you are in the mood for.
Hey Tom, Great video as always. Just a FYI my '16 BMW 750xi does have a spare tire, I removed it because it was a complete afterthought how BMW installed it, took up way too much room in the trunk.
In my opinion as an licensed automotive technician..!! I love the 2018 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT platinum edition or 2019 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Super cruise platinum edition with the 10 speed automatic..!! transmission..!! I'll pay 91,990 compared to BMW and Audi and Mercedes Benz s 550 and E Class and all want there cars high dollars ranging 150,000 to 165,000..!! So those prices compared to what a beautiful Cadillac CT6 3.0TT cost fully loaded I'll go with the Cadillac for 91,000 dollars..!!
I bought a 3 y/o BMW, CPO, for $37K. The sticker was $68K. So someone lost $10,000/year in depreciation. So much for great resale value being a reason to drop $30K more on a BMW.
Update: It has continued to plunge in value, despite low miles being put on it, KBB value is now only $24,500 with 45,000 miles, SAV 3.5i, and near perfect condition. I've lost $13,000 in 18 months, for a total of $44,000 in 4.5 years.
James Patrick You can't lose amongst the three. If you want sporty handling, go with the Cadillac. Want a comfortable ride? Go with Conti or Genesis G90. Don't wanna flaunt a bid badge? Go with the G90.
The CT6 is kind of a different animal. It's about the same size as Continental but the vibe is completely different. Check out my Conti review at the New York Times. It will post here in a few weeks.
Billy Ive been a loyal BMW client since I was able to pay for one, having said that the pricing for a new BMW is excessive looking back to America opened my eyes again, and like Tom says Cadillac isn't boatish anymore and since Ive grown tired of BMW´s sporty ride I might end up buying a continental, or the genesis even, I looked up to the new volvo, but the ride is really rough for a car that is supposed to be confort above old
Haven't Volvos always been about structural rigidity and crash safety features above all? Sure they have leather and wood, so does a Nissan these days, but the full-size Volvo bricks of the 80s and 90s didn't have anywhere near the plushest ride on the market either. What they did have was roof crush test results rivaled only by fellow Swedish brand Saab.
Sean, in summary yes, but when shopping for a volvo today you take safely as standard, you expect the best from volvo in safety, however their pricing and competitors forced volvo to go upmarket in interior and sportiness, and the new volvo, although very safe and very beautiful feels centered in sport, and as a person who already owns a "weekend car" an used mazda miata, I don't want nor need the sportiness on it
I am a fan of what cadillac has been doin lately but this time I feel like Lincoln did it better with the Continental. This segment is not for sporty big cars, this is a segment of luxury and comfort, I guess they could attract some buyers but for that kind of money if you want a sporty car you get a porsche or something diferent.
It's not that they don't attract customers. According to Forbes it's because they're too expensive. Read up on some real world articles. These stupid reviews and idiot comments.. these were the Rolls Royce back in the day. Probably the biggest status symbols. But I can tell you still really like it that's why you own one lol. And I agree the road presence in real life is unbelievable. Only for the most upper class.
Actually the interior is a lot Cleaner and simpler than any German car!! The Germans really need to update their interior because they are Dated and that's a fact
I Love These cars and the wheels are super nice I think it Cadillac needs to give this car far more features to compete with Mercedes-Benz BMW and Audi cutting back won't help Cadillac or GM it's only hurting them both
I’m unsure how German build quality measures up given their subpar record on reliability. Customers being terrified to own one out of warranty doesn’t say much of their craftsmanship
Is Cadillac doing that thing now where only white or black are standard colors, all others cost more? Every time I see a premium car in white lately I think, "Cheaped out on the optional paint, eh?" Other than that it's nice. I guess.
First off, fantastic review as usual, Tom. Second, the CT6 is a beautiful car. I have seen them on the road, they do have presence and look even better than on video. However, Cadillac has soiled their brand and reputation for so long and so often with poorly executed designs and engineering that unless they hit it out of the park with all bases loaded, they will never sell cars to compete with the likes of MB, BMW, Audi, Lexus and dare I say Genesis without seriously undercutting their competitors' prices and burying them with customer service that borders on the obscene. I have been a Cadillac owner in the past, and would gladly be one again but they're simply not up to snuff in the near $100k price range to pry my dollars away from the Europeans. I wish they were.
Great review. And FTR I agree with you. I think Cadillac has lost some of its cache. If I were going to spend a boatload of money on a "look at me car," I think I'd opt for a classic caddy. Something mid 1950's - late 1960's. A car that announces to one and all "I own the road. I am driving 5,000 ibs of good old fashioned American made steel on an X frame. And no, I don't care about the gas mileage, or if the car gives me a neck and foot massage at the same time. So get your little fiberglass electric canoe out of the way. Cus there is an ocean liner coming down the channel."
I drove a 535i (2017) as a loaner for a week. It might as well be an old Buick, no feel, not nimble. MSRP $65,000. And ZERO storage space inside to put your phone or wallet or anything, with the console taken up by a charger. BMW is not a driver's car company anymore. They sell a few sporty models, but not their mainstream models.
The looks and driving dynamics are far better then the Germans. I myself am poor but have incredibly rich friends. Only s class and xj ride better. This feels lighter and more nimble.
Driven it several times now, it's not a bad car, but it has a lot of plasticky cheapness and the backseat is kind of cheap, kind of soft and marshmallowy. For the right lease price it will be a good buy.
Wondering if you drove cars from rental fleets. Those are often base models, a poor way to expose wealthy people to a product. Agreed that Cadillac needs to take some of the "GMness" out of the interior. The back seats in my tester were firm and comfortable.
Rye Shelton. Looks great to me. Compare a Cadillac ATS to a bmw 3 series. I used to love the 3 series but not since the 2012 redesign. They really cheaper out on the interior and the Cadillac ATS beats the 3 series on that front. I was surprised how bad it looked. And the last gen X3 was horrid. Thankfully the interior in the new x3 is beautiful now.
I hate telling people I have an ATS, it really doesn't role off the tongue and for the uninformed it just rolls right out of their head. I usually stop at cadillac, wish they would go back to names.
Hmmmm for that price I would go with either Audi A8, Lincoln Continental, or Maserati Quattroporte. Of course, that's just me, it just didn't do it for me, really close, but no cigar. Though I am not a sedan guy.... unless it's a Phantom. Have a great day.
A great looking vehicle from Cadillac but it would have done a lot better with sales if GM wasn't so cheap and would have went all the way with this vehicle Cadillac could be a Real Luxury brand one day if GM would just take it's foot off of Cadillac's neck until then they will always struggle to surpass Mercedes Benz Audi Infiniti BMW Jaguar etc.
The tech doesn't do it for me. Cadillac needs to come harder. Beautiful car but it is way too plain jane to compete with Mercedes and bmw. The new hyundai g90 out does it in every way & it's a Hyundai! Come on gm!
5:34 - that's american panel fit and finish for you...in a flagship sedan!

Gm Cadillac looks nice breaks down and cost a fortune this car will not last 100k there's a reason why used Cadillac are on the cheap cut they know they gotta dump the car before it hits problem mileage
I love this car! Gorgeous! No stupid oversize air vents! They have kept the fog lights! THANK YOU, Cadillac!
such weird critiques.
Yes! I have a high affinity for fog lights. Too many Makes have abandoned them, over the last 10-13 years.
@@mrmysteriotx I wish there were more of us. Maybe then manufacturers would stop deleting detached fog lights and replacing them with fake vents.
Wow . Everyone is a car engineer and a scientist. So GM should fire their employees and hire the people from the comment section haha
Opinions are like assholes everybody has one lol
LOL
Better than the incompetent mbas they have now
We need those in Europe, even though they don't quite compete with Mercs or BMWs. Non-german cars provide a kick in the back for the german brands, so that they don't feel too comfortable on the market. I hate monopoly.
There's no demand for this car in Europe.
Drive one then make that statement. I have driven Mercs and BMWs and this car out handles and performs them HANDS DOWN! My wife and I just bought one and it is without question the best car either of us have ever driven.
They are officially sold in europe so what are you complaining about???
Donald Donofrio not better handling than my Jaguar XJ ... not by a long shot
I test drove an XJ the CT6 V6 models have all wheel drive and all wheel steering, the Jag isn't even close!

Your channel is pure gold. Keep the nice work!
Definitely a car that looks better in person. Especially the inside, it’s supremely comfortable
I love my CT6. Great car all around.
Another great review, Tom!
This would be a great car to buy maybe 2-4 years from now and buy it for half the price.
Ur right!! It’s about 40k rn for a platinum
I've been spotting more and more of these lately. Love your videos for your brief contents and high picture quality. Hope you talk more about quirks.
I talk about the quirks I find, modern cars have few of them.
Very nicely done. Great video thanks for the information.
Is the GENESIS G90 a more comfortable ride, because I prefer comfort over sporty???? Real good review my man....
Great review, do you find the night vision system useful? And I am glad that you are still enjoying your ELR.
You know, I did find it helpful. There was a jogger wearing all black with no reflectors that ran out into the street about 20 yards in front of me. I would never have seen her without the night vision (probably wouldn't have hit her though, even without pedestrian auto braking). Great for areas with large animals on the highway.

Amazing car!! I'll take.this Cadillac over Audi or Mercedes any day!! Cadillac.is getting better. NICE work GM. Cool.review

truly class leading, this blows away anything from Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, Buick, or Acura in build quality, material quality, and performance. well done Cadillac.
LMFAO......
Creepy fuck boi is back again.
Stupid,wothless Fuck
bahah its still a GM...i got the Q50 400 and that blows this thing out of the water easily
thesmokingtire .well if it;s about speed your q50 would eat dust with the cts v
I don't think you liked that car very much, but I freaking love its elegant yet aggressive design, it's gorgeous. Looks like they compromised on the interior tho, not cool.
Love to see Caddy do a retro line of whips. Beginning w/the 76-79 Seville w/todays technology
I have one they are so comfortable seriously love it
I love my Cadillac CTS premium V6 I think GOD each day I get into it
I have a 2019 ct6 and let me just say that I am in love !!! this car is beautiful and amazing
I can see how the car dips and dives as it goes over the pavement cracks and bumps. Too bad you can't choose your ride dynamics and set it to comfort if that is what you are in the mood for.
Great review as always!
I'm pleasantly surprised to hear you have an ELR. Not shocked, but surprised.
I have the ats 3.6 and let me tell you....I am in love!
Hey Tom, Great video as always. Just a FYI my '16 BMW 750xi does have a spare tire, I removed it because it was a complete afterthought how BMW installed it, took up way too much room in the trunk.
Hmmm, most BMWs including the 2016 7 Series I did lacked a spare and had runs flats. Are you sure it wasn't an option?
In my opinion as an licensed automotive technician..!! I love the 2018 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT platinum edition or 2019 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Super cruise platinum edition with the 10 speed automatic..!! transmission..!! I love your reviews !
owned a 16 XTS VSPORT Premium. test drove a 17 CT6 awd 3.0TT. neither of these or any other car I've sat in will ever replace a message therapist LOL
Attractive sedan but plagued with transmission issues . . . 1-2 and 3-1 harsh shifts that clunk when confused.
I bought a 3 y/o BMW, CPO, for $37K. The sticker was $68K. So someone lost $10,000/year in depreciation. So much for great resale value being a reason to drop $30K more on a BMW.

Congratulation... BMW ended in 2002, since then Ultimate Driving Junk
this is a direct competitor to the continental right? so what would you pick? a genesis, a continental or this CT6?
James Patrick
You can't lose amongst the three. If you want sporty handling, go with the Cadillac. Want a comfortable ride? Go with Conti or Genesis G90. Don't wanna flaunt a bid badge? Go with the G90.

Much better review of the ct6
Yeah, I remember the Catera. Who could forget that Cindy Crawford was in those tv ads! I wish Cadillac would make a CT6 wagon.
You know, the cartoon duck was so weird, I forgot about Cindy. Now that's bad.
cadsux With the lines of the ct6 I think a wagon would look good.
CT stands for Cadillac touring the number is where it falls in line up they will Changing all car names ATS- CT3 CTS-CT5 then there is the CT6
Worth how much after one year?
I like the night vision "target acquisition" feature, does it keep score as you mow down pedestrians? LOL
Hmmm, where do you live? Sounds like I need to avoid that area at night.
outside Chicago, I try to avoid night driving, my car is a smart, so the body is all soft plastic LOL
The dream Caddy
Good review thanks
Love the new gauge clusters, the old standard Caddie analogs were getting a bit long in the tooth. Will there be a CT6-V!!!
Congrats on 50k
Thanks!
I love it, especially late in the summer.
+Driven Car Reviews Love your videos.
i love Cadillac
Gotta love everyone here, who has an expert opinion on a car they have 1 never sat in and 2 never driven.
j'adore trés belle voiture
Someone please tell me why most of the CT6s even loaded ones don’t have the wheels this one has. I love these wheels the ones.
HOW MUCH???
Nice!!
Hey Tom. I like this car like much of Caddy's latest. However, their pricing strategy is kind of ridiculous.

And I agree the road presence in real life is unbelievable. Only for the most upper class.

Dream Car ☺
I Love These cars and the wheels are super nice I think it Cadillac needs to give this car far more features to compete with Mercedes-Benz BMW and Audi cutting back won't help Cadillac or GM it's only hurting them both
Cadillac should drop the alphanumeric bs and go back to real names like in its glory days.
The problem with the Cadillacs since 2012 is that their sedan do not have LED back-up lights like they had in the DTS.
No big thing, being everything else can admire where they are compared to the caddy
I’m unsure how German build quality measures up given their subpar record on reliability. Customers being terrified to own one out of warranty doesn’t say much of their craftsmanship
Volume wise... most CT6 will have the 3.6L V6, and costs around $65k on average.
That shark fin antenna seems too large and out of place on the rear roof. I'm surprised they can't engineer a smaller sized antenna.
Is Cadillac doing that thing now where only white or black are standard colors, all others cost more? Every time I see a premium car in white lately I think, "Cheaped out on the optional paint, eh?" Other than that it's nice. I guess.
If I wanted a big sedan this would be my choice.

Cus there is an ocean liner coming down the channel."
They should put the 6.2 with 420 hp in that
Gunnar Bonomo A 4.2TT V8 with around 500HP will be available in the CT6 soon.
Yeah but 650 hp would be crazy fast
CT6 V series :)
Beautiful car! Come to EU dont be shy :)
CT6 is what the 7 series used to be
What's up with the video quality?
Looks normal to me. You might have seen it before it was fully encoded.
Driven Car Reviews oh it's better now I had to reopen RUclips thanks 🙂
CT6 >G90 all the way

Cadillac Touring is what it stands for now

Detroit Hamtramck assembly plant
Hmmmm for that price I would go with either Audi A8, Lincoln Continental, or Maserati Quattroporte. Of course, that's just me, it just didn't do it for me, really close, but no cigar. Though I am not a sedan guy.... unless it's a Phantom. Have a great day.

You sound like the taste of mustard evaluating this luxury Cadillac
Why does every car manufacturer use something other than a nob for the volume adjuster?
NINETY. ONE. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. Why in the BLOODY F am I watching this?!?!
Nice car, but noooo way I'd pay 91K for a GM product. Give me a Lexus any day. At least you get quality for all that money.
I'm sure Cadillac is pissed that you even mentioned the new kid on the block...Genesis.
If you're already spending over $90k, what's an extra 20g...
...because the wealthy become that way by not spending money.
Wow! badass answer
Boom!
An extra $20,000 is a significant amount of money! An extra few hundred dollars per month, in some cases.
5:03 This statement, In my opinion caddy always trying to play catch up with the euros.
5:34 - that's american panel fit and finish for you...in a flagship sedan!
Gm Cadillac looks nice breaks down and cost a fortune this car will not last 100k there's a reason why used Cadillac are on the cheap cut they know they gotta dump the car before it hits problem mileage
90 grand for caddilac yeah right
Do a continental!!
Eric Albertson
He has. Check out the NY Times site. And the review will come soon.
Billy is correct.
$91K?? Should be worth half that in two years. Decent car for $40K. Still inferior to Tesla 3 though.
best luxury car on the market
