Tarja was the original Nightwish singer. Not name dropping here just telling the story of an amazing and strong woman and family. I have known her and her family since she was 15. Her dad was an on air personality in Little Rock's Morning drive for decades and a voice actor as well. He also was on The Gong show back in the 70s, John Lee. Amy has been through some deep emotional tragedies in her life. She lost a younger sister, 3, when she was 6 and a child her self. Then her brother passed after a life long struggle with severe epilepsy at the age of 24. She has had an emotional life for certain. Her wonderful lyrics are from the life she lead and those who feel her emotion also feel her pain. 'HELLO' is a song that was on 'Fallen' and has never been played live. Well, once when her dad recorded it when Amy presented and gave away a piano she wrote most of her music on to a fan. It is about her sisters passing and the song that made her become creative to deal with the emotions. That moment Amy became a songwriter. As we all know she went on to become one of the first female NuMetal singers. Definitely the most beautiful. Her entire family has the DNA of beauty, and kindness.
Alanis Morrisette pretty pretty please🙏 “Uninvited” & “You Oughta Know” & “Thank You” are all great songs to start with. She’s interesting, weird, amazing and iconic!!! You won’t be disappointed
1:17 Maybe you heard it from a wwe PPV in 2003 called No way out in Feb of that year. This song came out in March that year and wwe helped immensely to promote it.
The song was originally created without the guy, but the record label had other ideas. Not a band I followed, but 'My Immortal' is a showcase of how amazing her voice truly is.
They made it with the singer from 12 stones because that’s who gave Evanescence their shot and took them on tour with them when this album dropped. I got to see them both do an acoustic show at a shopping mall in Pasadena, Tx. Right before they were going on tour.
Evanescence is amazing. When i was a teen, my dad and sisters would often blair it through the house. She is one of my fav. Female singers of all time.
The guy in this song is a guest vocalist named Paul McCoy from a band called 12 Stones. They were from the same label that Evanescence started on. That label (Windup) did a lot of soundtrack songs around the time this came out
I love when people hear Amy Lee's voice for the first time!!! If you want to hear Evanescence going hard, then watch Sweet Sacrifice, Everybody's Fool, or (my personal favorite) Going Under.
It has been used in movies but is an original release, the guy is a guest vocalist. I can't remember his name or the band he sings with. "You never call me when you're sober" is another favorite.

So it's the Architypal hero storyline that flows through almost every great work of literature that have ever existed and all the best movies of all time. I feel like Paul never got the credit he deserves for his appearance in this track. Actually, I know he didn’t as I know him personally. He is from my hometown and I’ve been to many of his bands live shows. Ever heard this song with someone else trying to do the lead male part? It doesn’t sound the same. 12 Stones should have gotten way more attention but it seems the record label was pushing Evanescence to the masses and forgot about the other talent they had signed during that time. I still like the song though and many others by Evanescence as well 👍

Evanescence was Ben moody and Amy Lee then Ben left. Ben would come back with another band We are the Fallen. I remember My Immortal blowing up locally
Sorry to say Brad, this is Amy Lee's most hated song because the male vocalist was forced on her and the band by the studio who thought a metal band with a female lead would never sell. Amy Lee almost told the studio where they could shove the male singer and walk away from it but instead fought on, so was only this song they did it to which they released on the soundtrack for Daredevil(Bennifer version). Removing the male vocalist changes the whole dynamic from needing a man to save her to realizing she doesn't need a man or anyone and she needs to stand on her own two feet only relying on herself to bring her back from her depression and/or dark mood. I personally like the version here with a male vocalist, but it is less to do with the msg and more to do with the sound. I am a big fan of male/female vocals, especially since Amy Lee has such a beautiful voice that can hold its own mixed with the gruffer male vocals is just a contrast I like a lot.

This song was ALL over the radio when it came out. It was in the Daredevil movie (along with My Immortal, which you should definitely check out the rock version of because it is beautiful). The male vocalist in the chorus is the lead singer of a GREAT Christian rock band called 12 Stones and I absolutely cannot recommend them enough. Broken, Soulfire, Fade Away, Crash, My Life, The Last Song, Bitter, Stay, 3 Leaf Loser, Waiting for Yesterday, In Closing, Photograph, Lifeless, Far Away...seriously, you got to check them out. I think you'll like them a lot. And just for the heck of it while I'm plugging Christian rock groups I have to mention Skillet (absolute MUST), Thousand Foot Krutch (bit of a rock/rap fusion similar to Linkin Park), and Pillar. Skillet, there's really no "wrong" place to start but I'd say go with Freakshow, Not Gonna Die (extended/full version), Circus for a Psycho, Monster, to be honest I could list recommendations all day so I gotta make myself move on. TFK I'd say start "old school" with Puppet, Bounce, I Climb, Ordinary, Faith Love And Happiness, Last Words, then go "new school" with Untraveled Road, War of Change, Courtesy Call, and Fire it Up. And for Pillar I'd recommend Fireproof, Holding On, Simply, Rewind, Staring Back, One Thing, A Shame, Light at my Feet, Just to Get By, and Indivisible. And just for the heck of it, Flyleaf and Fireflight, for a couple of great woman-fronted rock bands. There really is just too much great music I want to share.
I LOOOOVE evanescence!!!! Check out the songs Going Under, Everybody’s Fool, Tourniquet, or Lithium. Amy Lee has such an AMAZING voice 🔥 honestly just about any song they have is great.
In a interview Amy Lee said the label forced her to put a male singer on the song she's the only singer and this was on a movie soundtrack back in 2003
The male is the lead singer of 12 stones. In the music video, all of 12 stones is there. They were like the introduction into Christian rock after PoD came out
The references to a movie brad is wondering about is the Neverending Story. In the movie the childlike empress asked sebastion (the main character) to call her name and save her from the darkness. Another name for that darkness in the movie is the Nothing. Amy lee sings "call my name and save me from the dark" and "the nothing I have become"
Yes, they were considered Nu Metal and yes, it was on the Daredevil soundtrack along with another song by Evanescence "My Immortal" which was amazing as well
Ive watched alot of yalls reactions. Love em! Ive noticed that Lex seems to notice the subtle details of metal guitar. Everyone hears the hard and heavy distorted power chords. But her facial expression changes with the subtle details of guitar. Get that girl an Ibanez RG550, a Blackstar Club 40 amp and stand back!
I remember the first time I heard this song and I was hooked. I don't know if the musical textures/heaviness, her voice or the fusion between metal and rap singing but the there was something really special going on. I would loop this song over and over, just couldn't get enough. Another song "Sail" by Awolnation had a similar effect on me, just love that bass note and the hooks in the song.
2:54 i think the story goes, she was in a relationship but found someone who she loved wholeheartedly, and it was a cry to rescue her from the position she's in. something like that. it's very literal in it's lyrics. also i'd just call it rock n roll. idk the term metal gets thrown around way too loosely i think in post grunge
Thanks for the reaction, I highly recommend that you do a video reaction now that you got a clear understanding of the lyrics as they are difficult to hear in the video, you will get a different perspectives the video is very artistic but keep in mind that this song was the first single from their debut album in 2003 which catapulted the band to superstardom level what seemed overnight as Amy Lee's voice for that genera was unheard of and so amazingly unique as her style made you feel every note and emotion in a grunge rock style. Sorry to burst your interpretation Brad but the song is actually about Amy writing from her experience in a relationship with one of her band members who developed a deep addiction to drugs and started to change and that is what she means by only you can bring me back to life, she is talking about wanting the man she fell in love with to come back as the drugs change him and she stayed for a long time because she loved him and wanted to save him and get him back.👍👍👍
My Immortal is one the best by Evanescence. Amy Lee has a beautiful voice.

And don't forget my immortal.
In a interview Amy Lee said the label forced her to put a male singer on the song she's the only singer and this was on a movie soundtrack back in 2003
Nightwish were already around.
Pretty sure this song was on the Daredevil soundtrack. With Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner .
Amy Lee is perfection. Next one please do Going Under.
The look!! 😂☠️🤦♂️ excellent comedic editing y’all 💥
"Oh, big daddy save me." Hahaha 😂
Awesome reaction. Love this one. Imaginary though, is my favorite Evanescence song.
Looking forward to more.
Love watching Lex’s reaction!
Bring Me To Life was covered by Dilana Smith from South Africa on the show, Rockstar, Supernova which was on CBS 2006/2007 ish.
Don't sleep on Paul McCoy either (the male singer). He's from the band 12 Stones
Yes, they were considered Nu Metal and yes, it was on the Daredevil soundtrack along with another song by Evanescence "My Immortal" which was amazing as well
Amys voice is just everything. So many great song by the band
Sweet!! Evanescence is a great combination . My children laughed at me for liking her.
The guy singing is from a band called 12 stones. The drummer plays in two Christian metal bands; Living Sacrifice & Soul Embraced.
the guy's voice is a vocalist from 12 stones
My daughter first introduced me to her with her version of SALLY'S SONG from nightmare before Christmas
Only reason I watch you is cause of the variety of genres. Please keep moving around. Much appreciate your content so far
Aww, I was hoping to see your reactions to the video for this song. It never fails to elicit some strong reactions.
Sorry to burst your interpretation Brad but the song is actually about Amy writing from her experience in a relationship with one of her band members who developed a deep addiction to drugs and started to change and that is what she means by only you can bring me back to life, she is talking about wanting the man she fell in love with to come back as the drugs change him and she stayed for a long time because she loved him and wanted to save him and get him back.👍👍👍
The song was used in the Daredevil Movie starring Ben Affleck, Colin Farrell & Jennifer Gardener.
You gotta go back and watch the video for this, and check out more of them.
What a beautiful song! Evanescence is a group, and this song is in the movie Daredevil...
From what i read the song is describing her now husband but at the time a good friend helping her transition out of an abusive relationship
