In truth, you probably mean “no one under the age of 40 in North America” when you say “in the world”. I can guarantee this 50-something American hasn’t heard it and I don’t think the early 2000 rock music escaped it’s primary age bracket as much as you may think. Sure, I tried listening to “alternative rock” radio during those years but didn’t find much appealing, particularly after suffering through all the negative energy and negative worldview of the Grunge era; as an older rocker I just didn’t care to be screamed at so I, like I’m sure many in my old Boomer/early Gen-X, just didn’t go there and simply reverted to classic rock stations. Funny/Not Funny - , it just occurred to me that I listened to a lot of talk radio during this period and that it corresponded with the rise of all the divisive talk radio/cable tv of today - perhaps we should blame the music of the era 😂🤷🏻♂️. Just kidding 😎 The song is definitely all about the emotion - the anger. Sonically it’s full and repetitive, on purpose I’d presume. I guess if you could relate to the emotional content, you like the song- I don’t and so it doesn’t reach me - lyrically or musically. I think they do have some decent tunes - I think I’ve heya done like a few but not really sure. Surely they couldn’t have gotten so big on the backs of just this and similar “anger” songs…? They got to have more in their arsenal, no?

Linkin Park is by far one of my top favorite bands. And this has always been one of my favorite songs from them. And yes, Brad, they did do a collaboration with Jay-Z, mashing up their "Numb" with his "Encore" and it's pretty catchy. And just one of numerous such projects with him, including a mash-up of their "Points of Authority" with "99 Problems," as well as a mash-up of "Lying From You" and "Dirt Off Your Shoulder," which I really enjoyed (although I recommend the "studio" versions of both rather than "live"). But yea, Linkin Park covers a surprisingly wide range of sounds. To get a good grasp of this, check out "Given Up" (one of their heavier songs) and then check out "One More Light" (one of their lightest songs). The difference is so distinct and is why Chester Bennington gained a reputation for being able to "Sing like an angel and scream like a demon." There are honestly WAY too many Linkin Park recommendations to list them all, including pretty much their ENTIRE Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums, but you should also check out "Talking To Myself" and "Lost in the Echoes."
Crawling is a good song by them... and u gotta do what I've done by linkin park!!! Gotta b official video for what I've done even if u have to blur it cuz the video is just as good as the song
I always took this to be a girlfriend or wife thinking they could change you. And the frustration he feels at being fooled thinking she loved him for what he is rather than what she thinks he can become.
I’m 30 and I’ve been a metal head sense I was 9 years started with slipknot and static x and whatnot today I like a lot more heavy type of music. just a little back ground. But I’ve been listen to LP sense I was like 13-14 ish and this song still gives me goose bumps. Depending on the day I hear the song it’s about my dad or i hear it like I’m looking at myself in the mirror.
You should listen to One More Light. It’s a totally different vibe and shows how different Linkin Park can sound. Also, a beautiful tribute to Chester, RIP
In 2003 I had a 95 Honda Civic with sick rims and sound system and I would blast this driving on the highway to meet with friends. I would hit the gas everytime the hook came on. Try it one day!
Having grown up in one of those "do what I say or else" families, this song speaks to me lyrically. To quote one of my cousins, "you could be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, and your loved ones will still be disappointed because, in their opinions, you didn't buy the right lawn mower". It's incredibly toxic and counter-productive.
Ok!, I lived in st Louis County and 105.7 the point played this type of music alternative, in 2001 I went to a concert at the riverport amphitheater with a host of bands of the day, saliva, fuel, early cold play and others, saliva played on the small stage, awesome! Kinda miss those days lol
Linkin Park is solidly in the nuMetal category. They are one of the pioneers of the genre, pushing it to the limit. They have many influences from rap and hip hop as well.
I see so many things in this song, teacher/student relationship, parent/child relationship, romantic relationship, society/individual relationship, peer pressure, religion, self-identity, etc.

Lex is an absolutely insane person. That's exactly what it takes to understand ppl with mental illness. Thank you Lex. Beautiful to watch you UNDERSTAND in real time. Oh, also, I'm not disparaging you Brad. At all. You're a pretty damn smart dude, if I may say so myself. I'm loving your channel so far. I'm gonna watch it for the rest of this glorious Friday. Oh, hey, btw, who was the guy in the yellow shirt in the T. Macdonald reaction video? Now THAT dude was incredibly smart and insightful. When I heard him speak, I immediately thought to myself, "I would love to have served on a ship with that guy." He has the brains to have been an EXCELLENT Sonar technician. Hoorah Navy!
So many great Linkin Park songs, but I've gotta go with In The End as my absolute favorite.
No, you nailed it the first time. They confirmed it was written about overbearing parents. But, like all songs and art, we can interpret it to our own life experiences.
"FAINT" is my favorite! Check out more Linkin Park. RIP Chester ❤
Linkin Park is one of my favorite groups, I think everyone should love them. I am glad Lex enjoyed it.
I love watching you kids. I can say that I was born in 63.. you dominate these 1st reaction videos for sure.. when I watch you I can see the wheels turning super entertaining... you guys are perfect together don't lose site of each other..great intelligent views you have such a good read on the music.. I will definitely keep watching.. you keep me intrigued.. thank you!
very nice reactions, that BVB jersey looking good! greetings from germany
"You were just like me with someone dissapointed in you" powerful verse
RIP chester linkin park was awesome alot of damn great songs they exploded on the scene with "one step closer" killer debut song
The difference is so distinct and is why Chester Bennington gained a reputation for being able to "Sing like an angel and scream like a demon."
There are honestly WAY too many Linkin Park recommendations to list them all, including pretty much their ENTIRE Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums, but you should also check out "Talking To Myself" and "Lost in the Echoes."
This song always made me think about my older brother. I love seeing people hear songs I love for the first time.
Great Job you two, you should check out Crawling by Lincoln Park
Crawling is a good song by them... and u gotta do what I've done by linkin park!!! Gotta b official video for what I've done even if u have to blur it cuz the video is just as good as the song
Hit it on the nail... you both truly get things in your own way .Completing each other.
Given Up next! Such an AMAZING track!
I know that radio station. 105.7 the point and 93X were my stations back in school , when I still lived in Missouri.
Yea made me think of my parents too when 1st heard them.saw in concert. One step closer"still 1 of my favs
I love throwing Linkin Park in every once in a while, when I just want to feel mad and rage out again, lol. High school, lol, what a time .
The world needs more "Nawwww.... awwdang?" as people allow their ideas to be challenged. Instead of just Nawwww-lways saying Nawwwww
Chester voice hits my soul
Brad was right about recognizing it from their remix with Jay-Z. They made an entire mashup album with him. Collision Course.
You should listen to One More Light. It’s a totally different vibe and shows how different Linkin Park can sound. Also, a beautiful tribute to Chester, RIP
I'm so glad they came back to LP. I feel like they haven't dug nearly deep enough into them to really appreciate the bands greatness!
Saw these guys live once! It was epic🎉 I miss Chester!!!!! Great voice!!!!🎉
In 2003 I had a 95 Honda Civic with sick rims and sound system and I would blast this driving on the highway to meet with friends. I would hit the gas everytime the hook came on. Try it one day!
I believe such a talent was lost
Definitely check out the video for this song on your own👍 The more you check them out the more you will love the sounds!
Also Lexs interpretation is spot on. Thats how I always viewed the song ❤ but everyone interprets everything differently.
I love the insight. I always heard this song as a 'Toxic Relationship'. Love to hear your POV. I LOVE Linkin Park...glad it's growing on you. 😂🤣
Faint 1000% should be next, the energy from that song is unbeatable. Also u guys should check out Don’t Stay, Crawling, One Step Closer. Luv u guys ❤️ keep up the amazing reactions.
yess linnkin park!! you should really listen to figure 09, a place for my head, given up, with you or dont stay!! really good songs
You should listen to given up or breaking the habit. Two absolute bangers.
We getting closer to a Limp Bizkit return... I can feel it in my bones
Pollution, Stuck, Counterfeit, Nookie, Break Stuff, Take A Look Around, My Generation, Rollin, My Way, Eat You Alive...
Boiler would be great too.
@@TheDraval I could have listed another 20 more songs to be fair
I had the privilege to see them live in Greensboro NC back in maybe 2003-2004 along with P.O.D Hoobastank and Story of the Year it was amazing. Rest In Peace Chester
I got chills the exact moment Lex did. Chester had such a powerful voice.
I never thought of the mirror perspective! Great idea! A lot of artists write in ambiguity so that many can connect. And this song beautifully does just that.
this shit was my jam back in school at age 13-14. LP is brilliant
check out 'Given Up' by LP. Really sad to listen to it now, knowing that he was literally screaming for help in his music💔😢😢😢
Amazing band thanks for the reaction.
Yeah STL shout out! 107.7, as well as 105.7, and 101.1 used to play LP.
