While Amy Lee’s sister did pass away when she was very young, this song was written by the guitarist (Ben Moody) about a family member passing away. Amy Lee wrote “Hello” about her sister, and shockingly enough, it’s even more heartbreaking than My Immortal. I highly recommend checking that one out as well. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful and it penetrates straight to your soul. She really is a one-of-a-kind talent

This song is always painful to hear for me. I once went to a training session for a job. One of the women there was married to a guy that had ended up in a car wreck, and suffered brain damage such that he was reduced to the IQ of a 5 year old. The conflict of love, yet angry that she was robbed of what she once had and the responsibility thrust upon her, the loneliness of it all. This song took on new meaning for me since hearing her story.
