Zak the kind of guy to monologue about the close call with death he just had while continuing to explore during the Aurora while freezing at 10% HP.
That wolf struggle was crazy, that's twice you have to use a stim because of a wolf struggle after that first time coming back from HRV. You'll soon be able to make a close call compilation.
Don't forget that freak incident outside the workshop in broken railroad!

Aurora always looks so mesmerising but there's just something so unique about it being red.

It's not as bad as you think. It's just that the wolves there ignore things that would scare off regular wolves. (fire, stones, flares, etc.)Shoot them from distance or just avoid them altogether. Ground contamination is avoidable and nullified with the rubber boots, and the gas is a non-issue if you have the mask and plenty of filters. Mask is found at the top of the concentrator building.

@@AmplifyChris don't want to spoil anything, so let's just say that if you move through the quest quickly (no side-adventures) you should find enough food. But i see your point. I did play Buried Echoes in a separate save because of the same concern, but it turned out better than i expected

Really enjoy your analysis of the reports. Could it be that Rudiger's teams are experiencing an "aurora-fication" process? Meaning we're seeing a transformation in humans much like we see in wolves and bears due to the aurora. Just a thought I had. Still not sure what benefit Rudiger is gaining from this work (e.g. "bizarre benefits" and "found what he's looking for").
Also, please be careful out there! :)

Some interesting things I noticed about the signal void transcripts:
-In the "second instance" transcript, the patient first says that they were by the river's edge. But then later he says that nobody noticed him struggling "in the deep pool," which to me implies that he was already having memory problems at that point in time. He also mentions that he didn't know if it was sunny or raining, but that's a lot more explicit than what I just mentioned.
-Both the first and second instance interviews have to do with water and a fear of abandonment/being forgotten. In one it's him being left at the beach by his family and in the other it's his friends not noticing that he was drowning. The third one seems disconnected, but it also seems to be a dream while the others were seemingly real things that happened.
-The security officer in her last log mentions seeing faces she can't remember. In the third instance interview, Patient 7 also speculates for a moment that the dark shadowy figure approaching him might've been his own face.

Been watching your run ever since I heard the opening music that reminded me of a program called Alone in the Wilderness which was based on the life of a man named Dick Proenneke who lived alone in Alaska until he was in his 80's.
Your analyzation of the condition is interesting as it seems the "Machine" somehow messed up the neural electrical activiity in the brains of not only the people but the animals as well as what was told to us by the Old Trapper who said when the aurora starts the animals seem to go crazy?
When you do "Premier"s I always get worried after you're NOGOA finale. I thought for sure this run was done when that aurora wolf attacked.

On lowest difficulty I found the technical balaclava in that bunker only. Maybe you can find it elsewhere though.

I leave all the stuff at ground level in the main hangar so I don't have to burn fuel to organize it.

Another close one Zak! I wonder if we're supposed to infer that the 'machine in the mine' is somehow connected to the 'geomagnetic event'? I haven't played story mode (well, I tried the first installment, but very quickly found the limitations compared to survival mode made it not for me) so I don't know if there are any further hints or clues in that side of the game.
I have a challenge suggestion, please let me know what you think of it.

Collect 1000 feathers, 100 down feathers, 100 cloth, and of 5 full sewing kits (or 3 full tackles for EACH sewing kit).
Also collect 10 herbal teas and 20 stews of any meat.

17:20 I once found a second distress pistol and carried it with me. The game automatically selects the better condition weapon regardless if it is loaded or not. I got mauled and when I figured what happened I felt like throwing the empty flare gun into the abyss in Ash Canyon. And this fire arrow mistake has happened twice now. Unless I'm hunting for those birds I'm not carrying those silly arrows ever again.

I am a cynical person by nature, but I wonder if there actually is some coherent underlying explanation for the details of the interviews, etc., or if they are basically just to provide atmosphere. (In which case, it is working.)

I just had a wolf attack me about a second after I'd scared it with a torch and stone. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened.
48:41 I have a question for future episodes. Do you think it is possible for you to let the status screen 1 or 2 seconds longer open? It’s hard ti see the temperature or other stats in the speed you open and close it. I always have to slow down the video.
I can, but the reason I do it so fast is to just gauge if I need to worry or not. If its not urgent, I can try to have it open longer :)

What do you think, would it be worth as a side-objective for the 500 days ? Regardless, can't wait to see more of your run and the final bunker of Signal Void

i wish they add more things that would encourage people to go hunting aurora. Like maybe add aurora fur pelt or clothes that give x% more damage reduction or make them predators run away easier. Better yet make the clothes you made from aurora fur pelts glow during an aurora

A little offtop question from me, because I had comeback to this game lately and don’t know a lot of stuff, but does the bear d*es when i shot him 3 times with revolver? 2 times in the body 1 around head? And if so can i check it in the stats or something???
Thats not guaranteed as the revolver does little damage. If it bleeds you can check the kill count in the journal to see if its dead
even if you shoot the bear just one time it would bleed out. a bear always dies if u shoot it, it just takes time. u can check in stats as zak said

Little late, but the revolver has a damage modifier of 0.7 on large animals with the smallest crit rate of all available weapons. So your best bet is to shoot the head as many times as possible and wait for it to bleed out. Don't go into a loading screen, bc after 15 min game time inside, the bleed will heal.

I didn’t know the info you told me now and I got 1 killed bear in my world but i dunno i he disappeard or something, because i logged off and on within that 15 minutes and went for a loading screen so yeah. Now i know and I will try to get all the stuff from that bear!!! Thanks once again!

There are about 10 on interloper. Maybe 13 now with ZOC. They dont respawn

Nice save there Zak. Talk about playing on the edge... Now I know your a pro and know exactly what your doing. But it seems to me that your pushing it to the very edge of danger zone. Maybe your getting too overly confident that's causing you to make some very simple mistakes. We all enjoy your game play and don't want you to have an abrupt ending over a senseless death. So please try to slow the pace a bit and look real good before you leap. Seeing you come close to death brings back memories of my own senseless deaths in this brutal game. I'm wondering if you had bleeds if you would of died? Thanks for the continuing adventures...
I would have survived with bleeds, but it would have been close. The arrow mistake was... costly for sure.
