@@Zaknafein about the dead rabbit in the shower it might have despawned a long time ago because item loose condition over time and you know rabbit carcasse despawn after it reache 0% that why you didn't found a dead rabbit in the shower also i don't know the reference it might try to tell you

My vote for the teddy bear name is "Rudi."
Long Dark is heavily inspired by the Emberverse series by SM Sterling, and names like Astrid and Mackenzie are borrowed from those works. Mike Havel was "Lord Bear" in the books and Rudi Mackenzie is his son, and a prominent character who could use a reference

I think Klondike would be a great name for teddy since we are out here in the Canadian wilderness. The name is Canadian and sums up the game perfectly imo. Good luck everyone.
Case Teddy:
As far as I know the art style of The Long Dark is inspired by a group of canadian artists known as the "Group of Seven". And in awe of their wonderful art, I would suggest a name of one of these artists. I personally can "feel" most of The Long Dark's cold atmosphere and beautiful sights in the paintings of Lawren Harris. So i suggest "Harris" as name for this little teddy.
(all the other artists are totally worth a look too!)

I got a cat and named her Aurora because of this game and Zak getting me into this game but you should name the teddy Rora
I almost just want the devs to release a trolling of an End for the survival mode. Where the player gets to read flying manuals, but for an insane amount of time, like 5000 hours or 10k hours or something, then they have to siphon gasoline from the cars around the world to bring to the helicopter, then on an aurora night they can power on the copter and take off. I’m sure there will still be people who can pull it off, but insane enough that even zak won’t bother attempting

This region can be unforgiving. I was almost finished looting FA in my main run. I had one more area to check (sudden washout) when I got caught by a blizzard in the open. I was closer to the washout than the airfield, but knowing I only had supplies for an emergency, I decided to turn back. Luckily I had left a marker to point me in the right direction through the open areas. Had I not done that I would have died. The blizzard lasted for over 10 hours and went well into the night. Just before dawn came another blizzard hit and lasted the full next day. No way I could have stayed warm enough for that long with what I had. If you want to survive long term in this game, plan ahead and take as few risks as possible.

Well Zak I made it to 83 days, on a new Interloper run now, time to make it twice past 7 days!! Loving this series, can't wait to watch as the new areas open up.

The only reason I do not like Forsaken Airfield is the beginning. The pathway to get to anything useful is entirely too long. It just makes me never want to go there ever again because getting in or out just seems like a huge chore. Curious to try the shortcut here... that will help a ton!

For below 25% fatigue, I believe it has some other effects going on as welll, like f.e. in that state wolf struggles go much worse for you, and are harder to win

There is a way to loot those unlootable containers in the helicopters (the ones behind, top row). You can drop a lit torch and light another torch while crouched inside helicopter. This allows you to turn 360 degree. You can also do this tricks inside cars. I have learned this from PerfectTrip, arguably one of the best TLD players. To avoid dropping the torch through the floor of the helicopter, you have to kinda lean to the side and then drop it. Give it a try. :)

I'm not on a higher difficulty but if it weren't for you i wouldn't know shit about this game thank you zak for all the info and knowledge, I'm currently crafting a bear skin coat and a moose hide satchel , need to start on deer pants and boots and rabbit mittens and hat.
Thank you for the upload, moving to another city and also a new father!! That is what I call a busy summer. Forsaken Airfield is a cold place, I like going there, the 3 available cottages are my favorite place to hang out. When I go to FA its like going on a vacation or a hunting party. It's not a friendly area, once you figure the place out and learn the secrets it becomes very fun. If moose and bear spawn close to Drift Island you are in luck and can easily survive for quite a while.
I like your series. BTW my mania is put campfire everywhere you can. That open hangar has some kind of glitchy floor. You can place fire only on that broken door. And on the nose of the heli. When you start it on the heli nose, you can go in the heli and feed it from inside (if Hinterland did not patch it as they did for fires on bed of cars).
You would enjoy watching DHDunn. He does the same and places fires in all sorts of weird places.

41:00 thankfully the oats are available in multiple places, even on Interloper. I'm only 10 days into my first ever Loper run and I've found 2 cartons of oats already. I don't remember exactly where, but I've only been in DP, CH and PV so far. I know that Corn is only in the Signal Void bunkers, and it is an ingredient in at least one of the fancy recipes. Maybe that's what you were thinking of? Though I did Signal Void on Stalker.

Just yesterday I found some Running River Oats in the Rural Store in Pleasant Valley.
I found that Spelunker's Lantern; I didn't think it gave off much light myself. I do have a slight vision problem, so maybe that's why.

The "a view to behold" point (down to FA) has/had a funny terrain glitch. On the right wall are few boulders you can go up and a tree. Great fire'n bedroll place... But if you go further to the edge you can slipp under the little hill and see your campfire from below...😸😋 And it's accessable, as well as the bedroll so you can beam up again by using the bedroll.... Don't know if it's fixed by now, I had it on console
And I remember the times we heard your wife laughing while playing access streaming herself... Was great bc the idea of a couple enjoying doing this and not felt to matured to do so. Gave me the feeling my hubby and I are not THIS nerdy...😅

I don't like forsaken airfield because the weather is terrible, it's either the usual blizzards or that electric mist. In a week you get maybe 2-3 days of fairly clear weather. The rest of the time you set up traps for nearby rabbits and try not to starve.
It's very isolated and hard to get out once you get in and burn through you non-perishable supplies.

Started a new Loper run recently. Found two of the oats. One was in the gas station in Milton, the other, was at the community center in PV. What I haven't found outside of the bunkers was the can corn.

Sorry for all the spaming... A good storage point of the plane next to the basement. Has huge storage capacity, one of the large red tool containers next to it and close to the entrance. And space around for hides...
I actually never knew the towers after being repaired caused an aurora because I never adventure or do anything at night time other then sleep and I immediately skip over auroras when they happen. I’ll keep this in mind when I need an aurora for some reason :D

8:45 - I have mixed feelings about the region. There are things I like a great deal about it (the bunker storyline/radio receiver & the many interesting points in the south/east of the map) and other things I loathe (crap visibility coupled with vast empty areas - a bad combo).
I would set up a base in the basement of the hangar if it weren't so dark. I don't like having to use fuel just to inspect and rearrange supplies. Instead, I've used a locker and shelving unit in one of the second floor rooms. It does require more walking.

I can hardly wait for you to go there. I finally found my way out, LOL, but I will have to go back as there are still two locations I haven't discovered. Crazy, because I went around and around and up and down til I practically new the area by heart! I want to go back when you go! Maybe I won't get stuck again! LOL

Great vid! Currently on day 216 of Interloper myself. Trying to reach 500 days for the first time. Any tips on the best places to camp for long term and just let those 300 days pass quickly? 👏🏼 Also I have been testing the new cabin fever reduction with the unique recipes and haven’t figured out how it works so far 🤔

This was recorded before they changed that
So I bought the dlc but never actually been to Forsaken Airfield yet. The major reason for this is that it doesn’t let me select any of the DLC areas as spawn location at all. Do I maybe have to unlock the spawn by „discovering“ the region first? (E.g. choose to spawn in BR and then go to the dlc area or how do I unlock the spawn location in FA?)

Him Zak. Could I ask you to help me? You're one of the most experienced players in TLD in the world, so maybe you do know. Where i could get a mag lens in the outdoor area? I'm playing Outerlooper and realized that Hinters removed mag lens from the Signal Fire in HRV, and that was the single place that I've known.
Hi. There are several, but depends on your loot table. Since you can only go outdoors, these are possible:
- Secluded shelf cave system TWM
- Lake Overlook cave, ML
- Three Strikes, PV
- Pensive Pond, PV
You may also be unlucky and it is none of these, in which case it is indoors.
