- After completing Signal Void, it is time to refit the base and get a bunch of supplies before the cougar arrives. Hunting a bear seems good... if I can find one.

Zak, speaking in a perfectly calm casual tone: "The aurora bear is probably bugging out because the aurora wolves are also coming after me and they can't decide which goes first."
Yup, no reason for concern there. :D
RIP disco bear. I hope he's still dancing away in heaven 😔🪩
The casual way that you just walked right in between the aurora bear and wolves was amazing. I would have dropped everything and headed toward the base.
This is honestly what I really like about playing on Pilgrim. It feels like a hiking-camping-hunting-fishing-exploring simulator instead of a brutal survival experience. I don't generally like playing games with permadeath so I appreciate not having to worry about being jumped by wolves, and I like being able to explore and admire the scenery without constantly getting cold.
(Once I hit 500 days I am planning to try Wintermute for a while to get practice dealing with wolves so I can play some of the easier challenges, though.)
Im getting flashbacks of last time you were in FA. Walking around during a blizzard at night redlining for 10-15 mins and just casually commenting about the area and the sights there are to see and general stim usage
You haven't read the Dev Diary yet have you Zak? This is directly from the Dev Diary about the incoming Cougar. "Cougars are very territorial, and will get interested in you when you start to spend a lot of time in one region. If you hang around in one region for too long, they will take an interest in the region and occupy it. You’ll then start to encroach on their territory, which is very dangerous! You’ll have plenty of warning before they move in, and plenty of warning once they have occupied a region. What you won’t get is plenty of warning before they attack you"
It was recorded prior to dev diarys release
@@Zaknafein Gotcha. I was very surprised with the Dev Diary about the Cougar and nothing that I was expecting but definitely looks to be a great addition to the game.
Not gonna lie. Knowing how cougars prefer to attack prey in real life, im legitimately terrified for its introduction in the game! Cant wait to lose my entire run!
😂 Holy Barry! the moment you said "get to the chopper", and then did Arnie's famous predator quote, at the exact same time I did my perfect impression of him saying it. 😁
another great episode is always Zak. stay safe and take care!
me before watching: Ooo, aurora bear? This gonna be an exciting episode
me after seeing the dreaded aurora bear of the episode: Oh...
Thanks to you zak I’ve managed to survive 300 days in stalker
58:00 Breaking Dark "We need to cook, Barry" 🤠
Deer hides> Personally, I am now keeping one aside in every base I have so I can repair the travois if needed, apart from clothing repairs.
Great episode as always!
Hey Zak, if you ever do another big cookup in forsaken airfield there's a spot just behind the airfield that never goes out (at least ive never seen wind from any angle do it). Out the back behind the hanger and up the stairs there's some rocks on your right, and in those rocks there's a little pit that you can put a fire in, might help with the painful wind changes and save some coal :) Love the content!
They should make a sequel .. The Short Dark, and make it a desert game :D
Actually there is a guaranteed critical hit on bears if you shoot from the side and you're up above the bear about 10 or 15 ft and you shoot the the bear behind and above the ear just a little bit. It's been a minute since I tested it thoroughly, but if you're a good shot you can kill it first shot every time on archery level one. I think for the moose it's something to do with the chest heart area.
That bear had a fever... A disco fever
Hey Zak, if you looking to move your base out of the basement, I recommend the kitchen on the opposite side of the hanger. Lots of containers there for smaller bits and bobs. And there's also beds up there on the second level. It's just a little more of a walk.
Things do seem a little buggy lately. Lots of rabbits just sitting and staring at something. Animals stuck. Ptarmigans twitching and squawking.
Fooling around with a bugged aurora bear. Is it confidence or overconfidence?
Both
Great episode
The pov glitch with the bear was silly. Rip Disco Bear
Ominous title, cant wait to watch :)
Cougar attacks are going to be instant death or something horrifying like that.
I know why the bear was acting so weird, it was actually a wolf in a bear suit. Just look at the harvesting interface at 35:35 for example.
Poor buggy bear 🕺💃😂. Jo UK 🙂
Three weeks without this series. I thought your run is over.
Be patient with a working man and father
@@simon4321 I know all about that, but i was little bit worried if he is die in his main run.
What’s Zak’s “can’t feel my hands” “…Kaiser” pun about?

This episode is full of glitches lol. First the rabbit glitching and then the Bear and then the harvesting of the Bear carcass then the stats in the center of your screen when shooting the wolf with an arrow (they need to move those stats)
hi Zak! thanks for the nice video - I follow your stalker run closely :) did you had also this nice aurora a week ago? maybe you can see that more often ... it is rare here and it was so impressive! Luckily no strange things happened :)
I'm two days late. Didn't get a notification again. Darn RUclips.
Game is going great! So much food and water!
The weird harvesting of the bear, be careful. I harvested the moose on the open lake, had animation like yours, and got stuck in the ice.
comment for the algorithm
Info about the Cougar..
The Cougar is a random spawn for every region..
You cannot stay longer in a single region or else the cougar will hunt you down
Didn't know the long dark had myxomatosis 19:55
43:25 this is so scary, how do you stay so calm and know where to go…
I knew it was that direction from before visibility got reduced :)
groovy bear
How much stuff you taking up to mountain pass weather station?
Well... You often give us insight... If psychology or game mechanics. Hinterland wants to return the favour and gave you an extraordinary character insight....😋
And if you're not into water art... Just paint animals in the snow... With sticks...and animal parts... No, I don't think this sounds weird 🥸
Regarding killing the bear in two head-shots, you say "Of course you have to hit him in the face from a distance or the guarantee goes out the window." Could you -or someone- clarify this? Does the damage or crit chance vary by distance?
No, but you need the time to hit him twice. If you are too close he gets you before the 2nd shot
@@Zaknafein Okay cool, thanks!
Hey Zack just wondering where you found the jack rabbit flask?
Plane crash site at mountain town. Either by the plane or down by cave where you spawn in for episode 1 of wintermute
O boi
32:45 missed arrow to retrieve later
I already have a over 450 day run on interloper going but the reason I am still afraid of forsaken airfield is that it's so open and I just ALWAYS lose my way if thick fog or a blizzard hits. Like even in Mystery lake... I just can't find my way anymore. 😅 Already had to use a stim in FM twice in this run due to freezing after falling into the ice water. 😂
Apparently the cougar is not going to be specific to a region but it will start to hunt the player if you stay in a region for too long... not really a fan of that mechanic.
To me I really don't know how it will work out but I defenitely like the idea of an alpha predator that actually hunts YOU. Everything else is really easy once you know the trick.
I think it all depends on how long you need to be in an area for it to spawn. If it's like 10 days? Ultra annoying. But if it's around 30-50 days it will be entirely avoidable and a welcome challange.
Late episode 😊

huh

Great episode
