True story. Mid 80s. I'm playing bass in a bar band. Supertramp is in Cleveland for a concert. About midnight people start requesting Supertramp songs, which we don't do. I look over at the bar and see John Helliwell sitting at the bar. I say; hey, I think that guy knows some Supertramp. Ask him up on stage. Turns out the whole band was there. They all come up! Owner locks the doors. We're doing shots and hanging/jamming with the band. We're there till like 5AM. A memory I'll never forget. Thank you, Jamel for the reaction. Stay safe. Peace out.

These lyrics!!! Imagine you are a teenager and this is all you feel: I used to be a happy child and then they teach me how to be logical, sensible, forget all your fantasies and creativity. I loved that, I really needed that. I think there is s/th very British in it.

“Roger Hodson” and Micheal Jackson, both have one thing in common. They both uttered the word VEGETABLE in a song. Getty Lee (Rush), Jon Anderson (Yes) and Roger all have that very high talking voice that truly makes them unique. Breakfast in America album could be listened to front to back. Not a concept album necessarily but every track is just awesome. Good string of hits on this one!

I saw these guys in concert when this album came out and twice more in the mid 80s. I haven't deliberately played their stuff in ten years. Yet today, listening to the lyrics, I can't help but see a parallel to all that a younger generation is living through. Compassion goes a long way "There are times when all the world's asleep
    The questions run too deep
    For such a simple man
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
    I know it sounds absurd
Please tell me who I am". It hurts to hear that voice.
