How to Write on an Image in Word | Microsoft Word Tutorial

In this quick and easy to follow tutorial I show you 3 different ways you can write and place text on an image in Word. Once you happy with your creation I show you how to combine the text and the image into one element to enable you to resize and move the image with the text in place.

Within all my tutorials I aim to help you develop your skills working within Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as further your knowledge about the tools which are available within the Microsoft Office Software.

Sharing tips and tricks which I discover along my journey is also an important aspect of this channel. I love the idea of giving people the solution to a problem they’ve been struggling with in Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint.
The channel began all because of a problem I had when I had to insert images into a Word Document. I couldn’t find a way to drag and drop multiple images into a table without them expanding across the page, being cropped or interfering with the rest of the text. It wasn’t until I finally sat down one day, determined to find the solution and developed a way to solve the problem. Having found the problem quite difficult to solve without knowing how to do it I decided to make a You Tube video about it. Never once believing that many people would watch it, let alone be so grateful.
After discovering how helpful a simple tutorial could be I decided to make further videos with the aim of once again helping as many people as possible.

Yes, but you have to copy the text and 'paste special' as an image. then you can group the image and text together and save as an image.

This is exactly what I want to do. But why I could only select one object, either the picture or the text box even holding the Ctrl key? I am unable to group the image and the text together. This works sometimes but not all times. Anyone else has the same issue?

Sometimes your text box will cover the image or visa versa. Ensure your text box is tight around your text which will enable you to select both items.

For the creation of an illustrated / text children's book would I use insert picture or would I use the table tool? This would be as though using WORD like a layout software workflow (eg InDesign or Affinity Publisher) / the text and image fixed. I would hope therefore this could be exported as an ePub file to a publishing platform service & would be adaptable to various of reading devices. Is that correct?

I'm not sure you could export as an ePub file. You will have to check the file types you can export to.

Yes, you can use the crop tool. Select the image and in the 'Image Format' ribbon there will be a crop tool. You can manually move the lines or enter you dimension in the height and width boxes.

If you would like to save the image as a stand along jpeg with the writing on you will have to 'COPY' the text box and 'PASTE AS AN IMAGE' then 'GROUP' the text box and image and the 'SAVE AS A PICTURE'
