Actually, Agro doesn't need a ton of controlling. Point him in a general direction and he will automatically skirt around rocks and obstacles. Of cours if you need to change direction you can take control, but generally this game features auto-horse.
Also, the relationship between Wander and Agro was the inspiration behind the development of The Last Guardian.

Fun fact. These two colossi are pretty unique, in that both of them have names after spanish words. Avion = plane in spanish and Barba = beard in spanish. And they both represent exactly what they are. :)

I am really glad you are able to appreciate this game and The Last Guardian. You try to understand the vision of the creator and although it is kind of frustrating, it is nice you gave your thoughts on the matter.
Well Avion is also plane in French but beard is Barbe so it's so close to Barba :)

Yeah as frustrating as it can be, it makes the game more unique and I love it so much, the creator and everyone else who worked on these games did an amazing job!
NukaEle late, but the altars are just checkpoints in case you die in the way to a colossus. In the original were save points, since did not have an autosave feature. Also, the names of the colossi are in latin, the mother of many modern languages.
also in romanian language 'avion=plane ' and 'barba=beard'

Another good tip for Agro. Most people steer her and she goes back down to countering and I can understand that for most people it can be frustrating. If you hold down triangle she actually stays at the fastest speed she can run, even while turning.
If you quickly flick the L3 down and press triangle she’ll perform a quick stop. If you press those buttons again she’ll do a 180 and run back the way she came.
Some cool tricks for Agro as well. If you hold down R2, press the X button, flick the L3 up (while holding down the R2 button the entire time) Wander will stand up on Agro. This will make shooting arrows much easier while Agro runs. If you do the same actions but instead flick L3 left or right, Wander will suddenly tip over to Agros side. Again hold R2 the entire time he performs these actions or else he will let go. Going to Agros side will make it easier for Wander to jump onto certain Colossus when Agro is needed.
Just a few tips that I’ve found out during PS2 era for this game. Hope it helps! Or anyone else who has been having trouble.
P.S. if you do all those performances on Agro and also make her jump! You get an achievement!

I remember when i played this game i didn't knew you had to point your sword at the light and i was going around cluelessly XD
I been like to a colossus place and i didn't had to be in that place sooner , cause i didn't finished beating the last one.
So colossus did not even show up if you go to his place sooner then you would.
Avion is my favorite Colossus out of all of the Colossi in this beautiful game

From a complete stop, if you press L3 down and triangle at the same time Agro will jump to full speed. And if you hold triangle Agro will maintain his speed unless he runs into something.
You swim faster underwater than you do on the surface.

Love the bit of philosophy about difficult controls and camera at the beginning. I think, however, that's missing the mark a bit; the controls and camera in SotC feel more about letting go of the need to be constantly adjusting and micro-managing the experience.
Take controlling Agro, for example. It's super common for people to want to try and steer Agro like a video game car, constantly steering and positioning things just so. But, she's not a car; she's a horse. Once the player stops trying to constantly steer - either out of frustration that they or experimentation - they realize that Agro is more than capable of following paths and avoiding minor obstacles on her own. And of course she can: she's an actual (digital) horse. The player can then relax and just really ride the reins hard when major course adjustments are needed.
Another horse example. Agro remembers, when she's at a standstill, how many times you kicked and will gallop at the speed you indicated (there are only 3 speeds - so three kicks - 1 for a trot, 2 for a canter, and 3 for a gallop). Because she's not instantly moving at speed immediately when commanded doesn't mean she doesn't know; she'll get up to speed and maintain it (barring any major obstacles obstructing her path). The player did her thing; now let the horse do hers.
The same goes for the camera, but that's a harder one to put into words. But the camera is trying to frame the view in a certain way, which is why it drifts into position after you move it. Let the camera do what it does, and it'll usually do alright.
You can feel the lower frustration level once you trust that the game knows what it is doing, so to speak.
Finally! someone who knows what they’re talking about? Thank you for that clear and nice explanation. Putting that aside I play lots of games with horses and I still find agro the most fun to ride and perform tricks with her. The camera is ermm..... well cinematic!??? Ye..Yeah! I will leave it at that. Masterpiece of a game.
@Shmebulock I love people like you, who hear someone else's comment explaining that it does something and why in a good way, and you just say, ''lol, i'm entitled''. Honestly, fuck off. Fumito makes games for the experience it presents. He removes huds while in a scenery to help the experience. The camera works really well, just because you can't control it like a slave, doesn't mean it doesn't fucking work you ape. This is a masterpiece, just isn't for you, and you don't get it, even after it is show in your face. Play a game you like and understand, just don't bother using fucking wrong information and using it to prove that the camera is objectively garbage, you condescending cum-dumpster.
That was crazy lucky falling off Avions wing just to land on it's tail. lol
I truly enjoy your let's play and adore your personality. You are beautiful but I think you care more about how people perceive you're intelligence, which is a quality usually found in smart people so there's that. I don’t know if anyone mentioned it but when standing on agro’s back you can grab a eagle and go for a ride
I've been trying to do that but I forgot how I stood up on Agro xD
NukaEle I never knew about it until after I replayed and finished it on PS3 and put it away so I was dying to try it on this one 😊. Just hold the grip button to make him ride then when a eagle swoops closet jump and grab him 🦅
Don,t forgot to wait and look for the blue tail lizard after praying!! They live in that shrine and around it 3:32 i hope you don,t rush and leave the place before find it and shoot it with your arrow and collect it. each shrine has a blue tail lizard and you can also climb it all the way up if you want to continue looking. prying is for your health bar, glowing blue tail lizard is for your Stamina bar- good luck :)

Also u can find the silver tail lizard on the shrines or some special certain areas of the map.
Hold Triangle to ride your horse. Tap it again so it can go faster.
With your left joystick, go down and up and than triangle so you can start your horse running (You have to stay still).

I definitely don't think *paraphrasing*"intended difficulty" is it good excuse for the camera controls being iffy when they are.
The camera is fine if you leave it alone, it naturally goes to certain angles that give you a good view of what is going on. The issue is that most games are not designed like this, so most peoples instinct is to try and control it the same way they would for other games. Weather or not this is good design is up for debate, but it works just fine.

Alright so I have to point out that last ep you had your webcam left and now you have it right, plz 4 tha lovee of goud put it left next time it’s bothering me!
I know, it's weirding me out too because I'm so used to it being on the left but it covers the colossus health bar and even though I moved my facecam down slightly to show it in the last episode, it's really annoying to edit so it's just easier to keep it on the right
On the right it doesn’t block the colossus health bar. It’s much, much better this way.
