It's also really clever since it shows the player that shooting a missile at the head is how you damage this boss. They will then keep this knowledge for later bosses.
@@sonario0074 I also love that when she enters Kraid's room she's fully alert and on guard, but then Kraid appears and the change in her stance combined with how she shoots into its mouth when it roars without even looking just communicates so well how _done_ she is with Kraid coming back over and over. I almost expected a stray voice line of 'again?' when I first saw that, but if she said anything I think it would have ruined the scene. Better to keep the silence the series is known for.
Dread was so good. Ravenbeak is such a great villain. The process of learning how to fight and beat him was such a fulfilling war. They did such a great job of really letting you move in a way that feels like how they show Samus maneuver in cut scenes. Metroid Prime 4 has a lot to live up to, not only with the previous Prime games but what Dread did as well.
I still remember my first playthrough on normal. Raven Beak took me like 2 hours to beat. Nowadays, I can beat him quite easily, though there is still the occasional death.
That's what happens when you want to go to sleep, realize that you still haven't started with writing the script and then try to be funny. I guess I can just call these "happy little accidents".

What a well put together and succinct summary of Metroid Dread. You have my appreciation, good sir. I do have a couple corrections to offer, though. 9:46 The Flash Shift lets you dash up to THREE times in quick succession, not two. The instructions clearly tell you as such. 11:24 I really, genuinely hate when people assume that Samus left the door to Elun open when the *VERY FIRST CUTSCENE OF THE AREA* shows the door *CLOSING BEHIND HER.* How could she possibly leave a door open that she didn't even open of her own volition? And it's not as if it's easy to miss; the door is slow as hell. You couldn't possibly miss it unless you have the attention span of a fetus. On top of that, the conversation you have with ADAM tells you in no small terms that Raven Beak did it. This may have been said as a joke, but I don't give a shit. The notion of Samus releasing the X Parasites herself when the game explicitly tells you otherwise is stupid and needs to stop.
For the first point: I did also realize that but only a few hours after the video was already up. For the second point: It was meant as a joke, though I understand if some people might not see it as such.
@@sonario0074 It's all good, bro. I just hate when people push misinformation about a game I like, whether intentionally or otherwise, especially when the game itself debunks them outright. It frustrates me to no end, but I respect you for acknowledging it... if only SOME people would do the same.
I approve of the 2d game generations, but aiming should not be the only decider. I think Super Metroid should count as first gen, as it released in that time frame and was basically the cap-off to the OG trilogy. Also, weapon cycling.
Fair Point. I only really considered aiming as that seemed to be quite impactful to me. Though I'm really glad that weapon cycling is gone. That really was a pain in the ass.
@sonario0074 Agreed. Or at least for switching out of beams to weapons. For switching from Missiles to Super Missiles, I liked it, and I wish they never made Super Missiles just stack because that way, you just forget about them later and the enemy's health scales up to match it so the new weapon is basically useless.
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 yeah, the switching between missile variants was pretty good. That's one of the reasons I like Zero Mission. You already had the newer missile toggle but you could still switch between regular and super variants.
@sonario0074 Yeah it's such an obvious system, but none of the other Metroid games get it right like ZM did. SR was close, but it was kinda annoying and easy to forget about what you have toggled, with the switcher being on the touchscreen instead of with buttons.
That's an impressive time. I managed just under 4 hours with the recorded playthrough. I did another one using sequence breaks but I didn't really reach the ending faster. Probably because I took too long attempting them.
@sonario0074 getting the speedbooster can speed up how fast you run it once you get decent at keeping the run going. did you ever manage to get the special cutscene with Xperiment by chance?
@sonario0074 fair enough lol, I admit I may have missed it while I was feeding my son. Definite props cuz there's people who still can't pull it off. shortens that fight a good chunk
Great work on the video. I recently got back into playing the game too. One of the best Metroid games, Aside from Super Metroid. But that maybe just nostalgia talking.
@sonario0074 I agree. Super Metroid set the standard for Metroid games. It's my personal top favorite Metroid game, followed by Metroid Prime Remastered and Metroid Dread. 😊
The chance of parrying an EMMI is around 10% with good timing. You'll likely do it a couple times during a full playthrough but it's not particularly likely on any given attempt, and is more luck than skill.
That's what Metroid games usually are like. At least this game isn't Metroid Prime. I'd much rather have a repetitive game like Dread than having to go through one area multiple times that only exists for backtracking.

The attention to details in Metroid games is insane.

I know. It was a joke.
Samus' voice actor really pops off in that cutscene with Raven Beak.
She got some seriously good lungs for a scream like that.
I love the phrasing in this. "Take you to the game over screen", "introduce its face to the concept of a hole" 😂

Thanks. Though there's still room for improvement, I'd say.
Your commentary is what makes it. I've beaten this game too many times but still watched this video for your comments and takes.
Finally someone mentioned the flappy bird experience 😆
I mean, it's flappy bird. What else is it supposed to be?
Dropping by to say that I found Yellow E.M.M.I. here in Brazil.
It was terrifying 😅
Did you manage to escape without problems or did it get close at one point?
Amazing game. One of the best for Switch.
It certainly is.

Analog triggers could fix the 360 aiming problem. Hold all the way down to stop and have full 360, press lightly to hold at a diagonal for 8way
That's a nice idea, though I don't think you'd need an 8way mode if you already got 360.
