Damon Cross Logic and reason is females kryptonite. I recently dealt with an 80 something female that is getting divorced. She wants 1/2 of the guys assets that include a $8.5 million home. They were only married 4 years. She wasn’t able to pay her bills because, she had no money and the courts blocked her from his. She had just bought a brand new car against court orders to not touch any money. Before the marriage she lived in a mobile home and was broke. Now she’s mad she’s going to be broke again.

Contact the property manager, tell them whats going on, and make arrangements to pay THEM. Do not give her money and think things are going to be hunky funky. Things didn't work out for a reason and i bet money was a big part of it.
I tried to talk to my landlord and they said well I don’t care someone needs to pay the full rent in only money orders. My ex literally shot at me and they still won’t go after him
You could look for a second job so you don't have to home very often. That way you can manage the break up while making more money.

*Never* break a lease. It stays on your record forever. Easier to find someone who's happy to enter the lease and tell the rental agent you need to go but have someone to swap out who's happy to sign up straight away. Saves the rental agent the cost of chasing you legally and readvertising the place. Play it smart.

I co-signed on a car ($25K) for an ex-boyfriend. He only made 3 payments, so I had to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I also had run up over $30K credit cards while in college. This was my stupid tax🤷.

Just glad she is not Prego , I’d chill there for 6 more months keep my self busy get a 2nd job pile up money and make sure my credit is not jacked and then move. Change my mind set from an ex GF to just my roommate now.
I learned from my dad cuz he was the king of getting put out the house, “ a man should never move in with a woman with out having his own place so if you got put out you got a place to live”. It sounds like he moved in with her in her apartment
(Depending on the Apartments) You can actually settle without it negatively affecting your credit score. (Usually a two month pay out and you will not get your deposit back.)

25k after taxes is like 19k a year . His gf probably takes home around 22k. That's around 40k . They pay 14k a year in rent. That leaves them around 600 a week take home for everything else .
Happened to me, we just rode it out for the remaining 5 months and parted ways. I could pay by myself anyways so I guess not really the same situation.
I would rent a room or stay at one of those pay by the month hotels before I get a roommate....would even sleep in my car...I just can't.
Been there, done that. The right thing to do is to move out, keep your word, and keep paying your rent until the lease expires.

How about getting someone to take over the lease? I'm shocked this wasn't suggested.
This situation occurred in my area and they were students @ a local University. One day he broke, took her hostage, tortured and finally murdered her.
Both were around 23 years of age , two families destroyed all because they broke up and neither left the apartment they shared .
My advice to this young man

Most leases now a days require you to pay the whole lease agreement even if you do decide to move out. So just pay around 200 a month and let her pay off the rest

Break the lease. Sell you guitar and couch to pay for the fees. Do not keep your name on a lease with someone you don’t trust or like anymore. Worst case, the balance will go to collections and it will be more difficult and expensive to rent anywhere else. Especially California.

A lease is really no different than renting. She was a roommate. Help her find a roommate and buy a plane ticket. He is an idiot. His only possession is a guitar and he does not know how much it will cost to move??? With only 25K income, better rule out California, try Alabama.

I broke up with my husband and paid half of his rent ...because my name was on the lease. ... And paid for my own apt for 6 months. It was tough but worth it.

I am no Christian however, I believe in doing things in a proper order. Do not live with anyone or sign anything, unless you are married!!! I know people older than he, that make the same mistakes.
there's no reason unmarried people should not live together. you don't get special privileges because you're married. adults have earned all the same things regardless of marital status. and what a bad idea to pledge to spend the rest of your life with someone if you have not lived with them first

If she has good ethics then sharing should not be a problem. However, is a problem if she resents something and tries steal some of his items or stick his tooth brush in the toilet. Hopefuly nothing sick like that if she is a decent person then loving together should be ok.

Find a subleaser. Offer to pay $200/mo, subleaser pays $400/mo, walk away.

My best friend and his wife ate separated but still live together cause recently they moved from Pennsylvania to Nebraska with to be closer to his family and help with the 3 kids. He does not want to live with her and it’s sad that daycare for children is expensive to where it sucks up a lot of the money along with health insurance. The oldest has Autism so that makes the situation worse.

The worst advice I've heard from Dave. If he moves early, it's very unlikely he would continue to send the $300. Also, he would have no control over what happens to the apartment.
I’d talk to the landlord and the ex to see if it is possible to sublease your half out.
i'm sorta in a same situation with my ex but on a car. She's currently leasing a car under my name (i'm the idiot co-signer), but she pays for the car monthly and on time (not sure how much the remaining balance on the lease), and pays me her share of the insurance which I think is fair. If I wasn't as nice, I would have made her pay off the remaining balance of the lease and kick her out of my insurance policy and nice knowing you.

the girlfriend has to work 2 jobs just to make a couple of thousand more then the guy makes and Mt Ramsey wants her to take a 50% increase on her rent? He wants to leave, then he should pick up an additional job and pay her $600 times the number of month left on the lease. Why should she have to pay more for him to leave? that was misogynistic advice. Suze Orman says each person in the relationship uses the same % of their salary towards household expanses.
