Hi Jack, I was at the Tournament that weekend and we versed you second (The mighty spinner lol) you were up against our captain with the guard list! Just want to say that you guys were an absolute blast to play against and it was a pleasure to face Neil and his amazingly painted Votann. Congratulations on your performance and hopefully see you at another event, your videos are great and I'll be watching your backlog while painting tonight!
Oh hell yeah! Thank you so much! You guys were a right laugh and very lovely to play against! I hope you enjoy all the other videos as much as this one! 😁
Awesome overall video and I'm glad you had a grand time. I'm getting back into playing Chaos Daemons after sticking with Space Marines since the launch of 10th edition. What I like about Daemons in this list is how flexible and synergize with each other while having durability with Nurgle but also pushing forward aggressively with Khorne units, and each unit has a purpose. Definitely gonna try this while also experimenting with other units as well.
Synergies in 40k just make the game so clean and so fun to mess around with, and youre right this list absolutely tries to pack in as many as possible and I think it works well! 😁 Glad you enjoyed the video! We have more coming out soon, including a live stream with daemons in 1 hour!
Great job Jack! Loving this list more and more seeing how the synergies interacts. Congrats on the 5-0 and awesome tourney for your team baptism by fire :) As for the swap, I think Skull C might be the best swap as it fits into the synergy of the army and leaves you with the PoxB to do actions as well.
Ooooohhh an extra skull cannon for screens and more shock tests could be a really good idea! That'd make me 15 points under which is so damn close to affording the Khorne enhancement! Not quite. Interesting though I might try that one out! Thanks for such a lovely comment! 😁
Adding in my take on some units to consider for replacing the second unit of bearers and/or pox bringer: Argath on Bloodmaster, Nurglings, 3 crushers (if you have them or can get ahold of some, I know you mentioned before you dont have crushers?): 170 points for this package (using up the remaining 5 you had left over). 3 crushers are a relatively durable t7 4 wound profile with 6 OC that will skirmish well with enemy mission play units, can do some damage with rendmaster buff and mortals on the charge, can get a 5 in deepstrike from shadows thanks to instrument, and also can 3 in deepstrike screen a large area due to their rather large, oval base size. Argath on the bloodmaster is largely to use those last leftover 20 points and slightly bump up the spike potential of that unit, and a third unit of nurglings provides more screens and mission play units that dont have any better job to do. Unfortunately there’s not a single 60 point unit in daemons that I think would synergize with this list, so you could try out a straight 1-1 swap of the plaguebearers for 3 bloodcrushers as well!
These are some great ideas! I actually had a similar thought! But I am not sure about running a single unit of crushers on their own... I feel like they don't fulfil a purpose as much right? Like they don't have too much damage, they are more expensive and not as fast as something like screamers for screening, and I cannot fit in a full blob of 7 of them with the master. (I do have 8 crushers and a master though...) Here is my idea for you though. I was thinking about changing out the plaguebearer unit for blue horrors! I do think they are like double the cost of what they should be right now... But I could swap them out, keep the poxbringer, and then change a unit of nurglings for the relic on the bloodmaster. This means the master has 8 attacks. str 9. -3. 4. +1 to wound. rerolling 1's.... Insanity! (With all the buffs of course). I still have 2 units of infiltraitors, but one of them has OC now, and are painful to deal with seeing as they have a 4+ invuln, they split, and they can deal mortal wounds in melee. They have some very light shooting to kill basic chaff like gaunts or cultists etc. They also give -1 to LD within 6! This is quite massive as they could help me battleshock someone with the skull cannon for drapht of terror and to ignore gotcha stratagems like fight on death, or fight first etc. Then the letters charge in and say goodbye! Not only that but they stack with Skarbrand! As Mr. Brand forces a LD test for units that want to fall back, and these guys actually affect that test unlike everything else in the book. Hopefully saving some of my infantry in melee from shooting, or saving skarbrand himself from blast guns and being -1 to hit, then killing their units in their own turn... Its quite good I think! Not to mention the poxbringer on his own is a very annoying little character who can screen out the table. He can deep strike 3" away for actions and forcing shock at -1 (So maybe with the Horrors and shadow. Eldar units are taking a 9+ Shock test...), and he can hold my backfield objective from deep striking units, even if they have indirect because he is 5++/5+++ t5. 5w. Overall. More screens, more synergies, and more chances to score secondaries on my first turn which is what I always seen to have problems with!
@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial I think it is definitely worth trying out your proposed change as well! I think these last 110-170 points are very much in the realm of finding what fits your playstyle and meta the best. I just cannot get myself to stomach the cost of blue horrors, as my meta is chock full of indirect guard, land raider redeemers, warp spiders, and the like that pick them up without breaking a sweat. When you lose a 40 point unit of nurglings, its no big deal, but losing a 120 point unit of blue horrors hurts much more speaking from experience haha… The main reason I suggested the 3 crusher unit is because quite a few people have been seeing good success in tests with 3x3 bloodcrushers in my neck of the woods, mostly using them as a unit that can sit on a point or otherwise play the mission while still requiring a reasonable commitment from your opponent to remove. For 110 points youre getting a move 10, T7, 12 wound, 4++ unit with OC6 that, even without the rendmaster, has 6 bloodletter statline attacks and 12 attacks at 6, -1 for 1 with lance, as well as their “roll 3d6, each 4+ is d3 mortals” ability. Largely their damage is a secondary bonus to them being a relatively cheap, durable, fast unit that can help hold a side objective without requiring a commitment from a greater daemon, but that has better potential output offensively into the right target (space marine bodies, elves, orks, venoms, etc) than say plaguebearers (especially with the option to give them a rendmaster buff when needed). Either way I think both ideas are worth testing and it will come down to which you like the most! With the poxbringer, blues, shadows, and the skull cannon you make battleshock a much more realistic scenario, but man will it feel terrible if you shoot a key unit and they simply pass battleshock (or heaven forbid the skull cannon outright misses…). If you make it work, however, it could be electric!
That is a fantastic reply! Probably one of the best comments I've had. Thank you for your insight. I hope to test it live this coming weekend! So we shall see how we go.... The blues are so overcosted... But also my partner has just painted 30 of them, so they deserve a chance.
@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial Always happy to chat and theorize about daemons, they are my absolute favorite army! I look forward to seeing how the tests go in an upcoming battle report. My wife gifted me Belakor as my first daemon model to officially start my collection, so I know exactly how you feel in trying to work those freshly painted horrors into a list hahaha
Maybe I should wait for the tier list but what do you think of Seekers? For the cost of the Plaguebearers and Poxbringer you could get two units of Seekers. I run Mono Slaanesh so I may be biased but I just find they do so much for me with a 9" scout, 14" move, and reroll advances and charges. There's an argument that that's not as useful in an army with all deepstrike but they let you touch objectives before your first turn to get your Shadow of Chaos up as well as genuinely threaten your opponent with first turn charges should you need to as well as letting you sticky midfield objective first turn with the strat I had a game today against a mate playing Chaos Knights. Deploy Servo Skulls was the mission and my two units were able to touch two objectives, sticky one with the strat, then move off it to tag a ranged Wardog in combat. The other unit was able to tag a Tyrant in melee first turn forcing it to shoot out with minus one to hit in the next turn. Did they then die immediately? Absolutely, did they do their jobs for me? Also absolutely. They let me get staging ready for plenty of other units to charge as well as kept those units safe. I think they're pretty great and versatile due to their speed
Great comment! I honestly cannot remember what I rated them, as I have already filmed the video. But I don't think it was very high, and I believe that's for two reasons. Firstly they have almost no damage for their price... I'd like to see them do something more useful than just actions and screening... Slaanesh needs more synergy like Khorne and Nurgle. Shalaxi giving +1 DMG like rotigus instead of what she does now would be awesome! Secondly, in the current codex yes everything deep strikes, and we have a lot of movement with the strat for re-deepstrike. But with that said, I never even thought about using them to move onto an objective with scout, then stickying something and running away from it! That's a really good idea and I need to test this further for myself! Everyone has something new to teach me so don't take my tier list as gospel.
I can indeed! Just for you Paul! So the way teams works, is that there is normal 5 players a side. Each player has a 'card' made up with their army on it. Each team can only have 1 of that army maximum. At the beginning of the round, the captains will do the 'pairings' of who will verse who. It's like its own little mini game where you throw out one card each face down. They put up 2 cards for this person to choose against. They become a mated pair for each team, and those 4 players go off to play against each other, on a light/medium or heavy table of terrain based on a dice roll off for choice at the beginning of pairings. You then repeat that process again for the next 4 players, and the last 2 must verse each other. At the end of each tables game, both players score 10 points for their teams, then for every 5 points in game you beat your opponent by, you gain 1 point and they lose 1 point for each of your teams. (Though you must win by multiples of 5, and then +1). So a difference in score of 100 to 73 for example is the difference of 27, meaning the team score is 15-5. Each team needs to get 56 points at least to have 'won' the round, and if its too close it is considered a tie! That's how it works. 😊 It's very fun to play with a team and test out your strategies against other teams, with good match ups and bad match ups. 'Shield lists' designed to score points and then die to keep the scores close, and 'Sword lists' designed to destroy another person for 20 points. Good fun!
Hi, i play your list at a 160 Palyer Single Event. This list makes some fun too play it. I love Daemons and this list was awsome i can go 4:2 and make the 26th place. Thx for you work. I think i switch the drones for Crushers. How do you Play the Drones and for what?
Awesome!!! That's some great results! 😁 Congratulations! As for the drones... I use them for a few reasons, either scoring or doing actions. Screening my back field. But mainly it's giving rerolls to the GUO in shooting and melee. It buffs up their flamers and their melee really well because they are only strength 8! Great damage just weak strength, so rerolls really help them punch in melee. Good luck!
I tried flesh hounds but they died way too quickly, and I have thought about some crushers, but because I play on such thick terrain they just aren't as maneuverable as the bloodletter bombs! Plus they are a lot more points for a similar amount of damage because you're paying for movement and tank elements as well, and I already have those things in my list with the Nurgle units.
great video. I've come around to your strategy after playing a khorne + nurgle list and winning my last two games. before I was running be'lakor and shalaxi and losing all the time, have dropped them both. My list is similar to yours : GuO w/gift, Rotigus, Skarbrand, Rendmaster, Bloodmaster, 1x bloodletters, 4x3 nurglings, 1x plaguebearers, 1x 3 plague flies, 1 x skull cannon, 2x 5 flesh hounds 1x6 bloodcrushers So how do you play rotigus? leave him in deep strike and drop him where needed? What about the rendmaster, does he typically go with your bloodletters and attack the same targets? also do you deep strike your bloodletters or start them on the board? thank you very much
Hell yea! Well thank you very much! I have played a few stream games and one edited video on the channel about how I play the list. But most of the time I start rotigus on the board because I have too much in deep strike already and then I just shunt him somewhere else with the stratagem for re-deepstrike. Depends if they have any shooting because if not he can walk up the table behind nurglings or plaguebearers etc and be happy to counter charge where needed. Movement doesn't matter if the enemy comes to you. I do highly suggest Epidemius and friends though... Very strong unit. Best of luck!

Against Tau I suggest you start pretty much everything as hidden as possible. Play a very very slow game, and then put rotigus up in the air from the back of the board. Deep strike him 3" away onto an objective and then just use the flies and his shooting to burn something important. Rapid ingress Skarbrand as a threat for example behind some walls and hope and pray the GUO doesn't die from shooting. I don't think it's a great match up but it's winnable for sure! 😅

If you take out the second Plaguebearers, do you still think that you have enough Nurgle to justify Drones and Rotigus? Also where exactly does Rotigus shine? I am missing a FNP here.
I believe so yes. In my list I would still have 2 unclean ones, flies, 10 plaguebearers, epidemius etc. Thats a lot of units that can still fight very well and buff each other up. Also just means I have less chance to need the +1 damage from Rotigus in any other fight except one a turn. Rotigus shines everywhere! He is a beatstick on his own. He can debuff units on objectives, or slow them from getting away from you once they get weakened so you can finish them off. For his price he is the best unit Nurgle has.
How do you deal with armies that have a lot of flamers and overwatch? I havnt had much luck taking bloodletters, they fall over to any shooting damage and ive been getting roasted by armies like Greyknights who have multiple flamers in every squad
It's a very rough match up... I think there is really two main options. You can either use a wall, or bog them in melee. Generally deep striking behind a wall works just fine, but is terrain dependent. There is often a gap to squeeze your models into. Or you can use a great unclean one for example, or other tanky units to bait in a unit with melee. If they're fighting you already when you move or deep strike they can't do anything and you can just melee them for free. Another option is trying to battleshock them, but of course this requires you to shoot them first, so you have to do it the round before... I've had some luck using bilepipers to do this. They fight in melee. Battleshock in the fight phase and in the next turn when you deep strike you are safe. Hope this works out! Good luck!

He can debuff units on objectives, or slow them from getting away from you once they get weakened so you can finish them off. For his price he is the best unit Nurgle has.
At the start of the video when you shoutout “skari “ can you link the channel? English is not my native language. Thanks!

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial Thanks a lot mate. I have copied your list, ready to try it out. I really love it.
I wish you the best of luck with it! It's a great time for sure! Make sure to use plenty of terrain though ha! 😁
Good luck!
