      I got my Warhound to break down into sections and transported it in two cases.
      Case 1: Torso, head, one weapon
      Case 2: Legs, one weapon.
      I used neodymium magnets to hold the head and weapons in place, and also to help stabilize the torso on the pelvis so it wouldn't accidentally topple over or fall off. later, I added a small, thin base to the model to help with stabilization.
      I want to build another Warhound, but I want to add electronics: targeting lasers, LEDs, cockpit lighting, etc. If it works the way I intend, then I'll retrofit the other Warhound so they're a matched pair.

    28:35 Couldn't agree more--making the first experience a fun one is a surefire way of getting new people invested in the hobby.
    I remember my first proper match of a wargame; it was a game of Warhammer Fantasy Battle with the Island of Blood starter set, circa 2011-2012. My brother and I had split the box for Christmas, and one night he let me bring both armies to our FLGS and do a game against another player there, me playing my Skaven and the other guy using my brother's High Elves. The guy was super nice, helping explain the game and rules as we went along, but he pulled a bit of a cheeky maneuver; he added a Wizard's Tower to the board, something which gave his wizard a full slieu of spell options, but was wothless to my Skaven.
    Most of the game was pretty typical, our forces marching up to partake in glorious combat, but early on he used that Wizard's Tower to use a particular spell--a meteor. Every turn, we rolled a die. If it rolled high enough, the meteor hit the initial target; if it didn't, it'd wait another turn, and grow larger. He targeted the meteor at around where he expected my army to be next turn (which I dutifully marched into, being not a coward), and expected it to land the next turn or so and deal some damage.
    Queue: Round after round of the meteor delaying another turn, growing larger and larger until its eventual blast radius would encompass the entire board. When it finally did land, we discovered an interesting side effect of the meteor hitting the entirety of our armies--namely, due to how it allocated wounds and pierced armor, the meteor dealt damage such that it was extremely effective against small units with high armor, but was rather weak against swarm units with weak armor. By the time the dust settled, his army was in ruins, while mine was barely scratched.
    To this day, I still remember the hubris of that Elf Wizard, who summoned a meteor that destroyed his entire army; my brother, who had been watching, even gave him a name, "Mud the Team Killer," and painted him as a ghost to commemorate the occasions. It was the sort of awesome moment that sticks with you through the years, and has remained one of my all-time favorites in the hobby. I have a feeling Alex over there will have a similar memory of the time his Ork Warboss charged a Warhound Titan, *and lived.* It's the stuff this hobby is made of.

    I did this back in November 2009 for the "Tanksgiving Day" event at my local GW shop.
    The event had a restriction - no troops, just armored vehicles and walkers. Exploded, Wrecked, or Immobilized units with no weapons remaining counted as kills.
    The board was packed with tanks, transports, dreadnoughts, etc. It was a VERY target-rich environment.
    My Warhound was armed with a Turbolaser Destructor and Plasma Blastgun - it never moved and the void shields kept regenerating (very good rolls that day).
    I won the event for destroying the most vehicles & walkers in 6 turns = 38 kills.

    People treat that "the orcs muscles are weaker than ours!" as if it is silly propaganda and it might actually be in setting but an odd bit of trivia is that humans with the "double muscle" gene mutation, the one that causes you to grow roughly twice as much muscle mass as a normal person, are actually weaker than a normal person because despite having roughly twice as much muscle it is only roughly 40% as effective. They're also due to weakness in connective tissues more prone to injuries.
    A harsh cosmic joke.

    • @Makorze
      @Makorze 7 месяцев назад +2

      Another example of that process are bodybuilders: They can have very big, well defined muscles and yet their builds look nothing like that of a professional weight-lifter who can look much smaller, even slightly out of shape even, but they can lift alot more weight.

    • @jimmydesouza4375
      @jimmydesouza4375 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@Makorze That's not quite the same thing. The reason why powerlifters and especially WSM competitors look like giant ham planet blobs who're on the verge of dropping from heart attacks is because growing muscle requires a calorie surplus. Any time you're losing weight, you're losing muscle (because it is easier for your body to metabolise the muscle than it is the fat). Bodybuilders because being cut is part of their sport have to have a very tight regime around building mass while minimising fat during the bulk period and then losing as much fat as possible while minimising muscle loss.
      Powerlifters on the other hand weight doesn't matter for them beyond the weight classes, and even there if they can reach the higher end of a new weight class there's no downside to gaining, and WSM/SM doesn't even have weight classes generally. So in both of those sports there's no incentive to manage fat gain and so they just keep the maximum amount of calorie intake possible.
      In actual muscle mass however those powerlifters and strongman guys are actually really muscular, as muscular as a bodybuilder would be, just they have the fat mass that it is not easily visible.

    • @Fisthammet
      @Fisthammet 7 месяцев назад

      It *is* silly propaganda.

    Finally played a game on tabletop 4 years after my last one in 8th edition. My opponent hadnt played in 3 years either, so it took us 5 hours to finish a game with just fighting over 5 control points and no missions. I rocked up with 90 infantry, a leman russ, two platoon squads, two deathkorps marshals, Ursula, and Strakken for a 20 stack of catachans. The other 70 infantry were 3 20 stacks of DKoK and 1 infantry for home defense. Opponent ran Blood Angels with two 5 tactical marines, a captain in terminator, a chaplain, 10 stack of assault intercessors, a Baal Predator, a razorback, 5 sanguinary guard, and one other squad of 5 I cant remember the name of but they had swords and a hand bolter with 1 inferno pistol in the squad.
    I got Strakken and the catachan blob into 8 inch charge range, landed the charge, and after 3 rounds of combat Strakken killed the 5 stack of sanguinary guard at the cost of the entire 20 stack of catachans. The catachans, even with fix bayonets and the charge melee ability, did not land a single wound for any of the combat turns. The first 10 catachans got cut down in the initial combat, where one sanguinary was out of range to attack. I'm really glad I bought Strakken.
    Lotta mistakes made on both sides but it was a good learning experience to get back into the groove. Took 5 hours for 4 rounds, then we called with with me having a 10-9 point victory.

    I drew chaos knights for the first two rounds. Won one, lost one, but I didn't actually care about the results. The revenant was blowing apart two karnivores a turn before kicking a third to death, while my small units casually took objectives. Every turn. I've never had so much fun.

    I think this is what warhammer was always meant to be and that is people having fun battles that bring the world to life in a reenactment sort of way. When you see people at serious tournaments they bring army lists that wouldnt normally make sense but they are only doing it to exploit some dumb rules that were overlooked and are overpowered if used in a specific way or against an entire faction and its just dumb and takes the fun out of the game for me.

      RTT stands for Rogue Trader Tournament which is just an old name for it that's stuck around
      An RTT is usually a single day 3 game event, as compared to GT's (Grand Tournaments) which can be 2-3 days and 5-7 or even more games

      RTT stands for Rogue Trader Tournament. Each tournament level has a set of guidelines to follow like player count and how many days the tournament is. I think RTT is below 20 something players and is a 1 day tournament. Other levels are GT: Grand Tournament, Major, and Super Major. Details may be a bit off but that's the main difference I believe.

    I would be intersested on seeing a list focussed on Cadian units, with lots of shock troops and creed. Either that or a list with lots of light armour, so sentinels, hellhounds, tauroxes and the like without any russes or other main battletanks. Even though that wpuld probably boil down to sentinel spam, I'ld still like to see it

    I dunno, sounds like Orks to me. Whittle them down enough and they lose morale against a larger force until they're absorbed by a larger group and get caught up in the bloodlust of the WAAAGH again. But maybe I've just read too many accounts from the Black Library's Cain Archives. 😆

    At the end of the day, even in a proper tournament, this is just a game. There is zero reason to get bent out of shape and not be a sportsman or woman; some people take it way too seriously. Good for you for what you did for the younger player. I would probably do what you did with the support units: field as much mobile meat fence as possible to hold off the other units from the titan and let it do its work.
    As much as I love the Titans, personally, I'd rather field the 2-3 knights you could for its price, makes the other player split the focus of the fire, lets you have more guns to fire with, and more angles that they can fire from. take 3 of them with a little less meat fence over a titan any day. But that titan would be dang fun.
