I wish more creators took the time to reflect on the back and forth of each battle, as well as the flow of the entire event. Thanks for all the hard work.
Absolutely love the interesting rosters you are using, your telling of the game is great. Would love to have more photos relevant to the parts you are speaking of, as I find it difficult to picture what's going on turn by turn on description alone.
One of my favorite videos for sure. The tech priest getting triggered and getting their revenge. The Catachans and Scion were clutch. And Im glad to see the Ogryns doing something other then screening and dying. This was the most educational battle report yet for me. Was fun to vote on this list. Everything served. So unless there as been a errata under the “mission” section of the rule book step 6 is deployment, 7 is role for first turn and 8 is resolve pre battle rules. Lord Solar’s redeploy happens after the roll

Straken and the 20 cats are a pretty common thing on his lists. Adding nork isn't all that many more points. Is there anything else you want alongside them?
@@CtrlAltRetreat A decent bit of scout Sentinels (2 x 2) or (2 x 3) as an early screen. Hmm idk maybe a second big ol Combat squad to Castle up the middle. Complete with command squad and Engineer or Solar. I feel ppls sleep on him with an Ogryn Bodyguard as well.
@@dominicl5862 Very traditional catachans. I'm not sure if that would work anymore though. There are a lot more super heavy infantry these days and there really isn't an answer for that in that list. There are no power weapons, no plasmas, i don't even think that scout sentinels can pick plasma cannons. Would be rough in current edition i think
@@CtrlAltRetreat Re look at that m8. Scouts can absolutely take Plasma cannons and flamers. Perfect anti chaff. Also a mega Blob of Catachans with a Platoon Command can take 5 flamers and a heavy flamers plus the 16 Lasguns. And Catachans are designed for fighting and bullying other infantry. I think it'd go well with some Exterminator Leman Russ 😁 And a Mortar Pit.
@@dominicl5862 You're ok with armor? Exterminators change everything. The -1 armor suddenly means that pretty much everything can work. I was under the impression that you wanted old school catachan list restrictions. Honestly, if you're letting extys and russes into the list then pretty much everything can be covered. The only other thing to worry about would be the super heavies and imperial armor, or more thematically, lascan valks could cover that
Nice of you to limit your unfathomable Guard powers to give somebody else a chance to win the tourney ;) I've been in love with the Shadowsword model for a long time and it was fun to see it melt things on the tabletop. I'm getting back into the game and going all in with the Hammer of the Emperor- I cannot wait to have my own Shadowsword vaporize enemy armor.
Have you ever considered running a "avatar" list? (3x3 armoured sentinels and 3x3 scout sentinels supported by infantry) (could you get away with running 3x3 elysian drop sentinels also to propper meme it!)

I love my death guard, They are my "zombie" army. I usually run 60 walkers, and 60 cultists, 7 marines, putrifier, tallyman, 7 marines putrifier, surgeon, 2 wardogs, predator, spattering of demons, spattering of termies. It's weakness is a lack of "punch". That's what the wardogs, and predator are for. Each no man objective is getting walkers, and cultists, I call the army "bodies". Contaginated humans turn kinda soupy
Las cannons, and melta are str 12...for the most part. They will wound a russ on a 3, a dorn on a 4, and a baneblade on a 5, big differences. The difference between Str 12, and 16 only really matters when there is T12, or 13 things afoot, or the T7,8 stuff, Both str 12, and 16 will both wound Infantry on 2's, and most everything else on 3,s. I often run a doom hammer, and a storm sword. Tank commander demolisher, and a russ exterminator (there buddies). 2 chimera's with death corp, marshal. Chimera's usually roll out of reserves, sometimes have Kasrkins, rest of the points are spent on dudes
An extremely exciting series of three battle reports. Good job on keeping notes. Thoroughly enjoyed your storytelling, at least as good if not better than a lot of filmed bat reps. Eg. there's a shouty american channel where they spend more time filming the players than the units (fail). If anything, your reps restore my faith in the playability of the 10th ed.
Cool report! I used the shadowswords a lot in epic games back in the days (ie, 25 years ago...). They were already able to fire at almost the whole table in epic games, so it must have been felt pretty cramped for them here on a 40K table!

Just a point about split firing. You cant split fire the same weapon profile from the same model. You cant fire 2 lascannons at one target and 2 at another, just for the future :)
I am not sure that is correct, unless something drastic has changed from 9th to 10th that I have missed. You can shoot different weapons at different targets but you cant split the shots from a weapon. e.g. You have 2 guns with 1 shot each, you can shoot each gun at a different target. But if you have 1 gun that fires 2 shots, then both of those shots need to go at the same target :)
@@MordianGloryIve just gone back to re-read and the specific passage says"cannot split attacks from the same weapon". Im now not 100% sure if this means same "weapon profile", or "individual weapon". Eg. splitting 2 lascannot shots between targets.... more confused than ever 😆
@@jacobpalmer6155 Mordian is correct in this case. You cannot split fire with say, a heavy bolter, because it's a single weapon, but if you have 2 lascannons, you can, because they are 2 separate guns.
Man..as an old AF 3rd Ed player back when guard only hit on 4s and nothing else, hitting or 2 or 3's were the first rules I latched onto religiously when getting back into 40k. You just needed a couple years of half the army missing ALL the time to never forget who gets buffs for hitting in shooting.😂
You probably some Warglaives for some fast Melee punches if you want to mix in Knights. If you want to go with a big one, Canis Rex is hands down your best single choice.
@@HPLovecats Yeah, the kit builds both versions. Same with the Questoris kit, you can build every version out of it. They're also pretty easy to magnetise. For the Armigers I put Magnets into the elbows to be able to switch the weapons out and the Carapace one is just push fit.
Lost a game similar, opponent forgot to bring a unit on from reserves on turn 5, on my turn 5 I drew no prisoners. I forgot that unit counts toward no prisoners. Instead of losing by 2 I would have won by 1.

He wasn't correct on the redeploy issue - the rules commentary has specifically mentioned that all redeploys now happen before the first turn. This means that redeploy happens after first turn roll and after all other pre movement such as scout. I advise that everyone checks the rules commentary.
Before the first turn doesn't mean after the first turn roll. Before the first turn is a nebulous and vague description that doesn't actually tell us anything. Some redeploys specifically state that you do the redeploy after the first turn roll (such as the photos captain which states it is after the roll to see who goes first) that leads me to believe that redeploys that don't have that line redeploy before the first turn roll.

GW have always referred to 'before' as immediately before in all of its rules and FAQs, in fact many of its FAQs wouldn't work without before meaning immediately before. The thing is - we don't need this FAQ because they have already told us that it takes place 'before the first turn' in the Rules Commentary. The only reason some of the player base aren't playing it this way is because they missed this line in the rules commentary. The China tournament circuits where I am based as a UK expat play it as the Rules Commentary describes.

I think the reason for the distinction between the wording of the rules is simply because there were many different rules writers, which is probably why they made it uniform by including it in the Rules Commentary. But yes - they should definitely have made it clearer in the beginning by using common phrases with all of them.
When you record your sound with OBS or whatever, you have a loudness meter. When it goes red it's a no-no and you shouldn't be that loud. It makes the sound bad. While youtube fixes the overall loudness automatically, the artifacts are there and it sucks.
Sadly, the only Superheavy I have assembled and painted is a Hellhammer... It breaks my Valhallan heart to hear it get run down so often in Mordian's vids. ;)
The hellhammer has unfortunately fallen far from its throne it held in ages past. Before 9th edition, the hellhammer, and to some extent the eradicator, were fearsome machines. The hellhammer was just that, it generally hurt whatever you shot it at, I remember slapping a repulsor executioner into oblivion with main gun. Now I would struggle to kill a marine squad

I think the elysian sentinels are 1 per choice, not 1-3, though there is the sentinel power lifter for 9 + 9 + 3 + 3 = 24 sentinels total maybe

They have the Astra militarum Keyword so you can order Them with the Lord solar.

When you record your sound with OBS or whatever, you have a loudness meter. When it goes red it's a no-no and you shouldn't be that loud. It makes the sound bad. While youtube fixes the overall loudness automatically, the artifacts are there and it sucks.
The artifacts are part of the charm, tbh. Not everything needs to sound like it came out some big corporate sound laboratory.

Sadly, the only Superheavy I have assembled and painted is a Hellhammer... It breaks my Valhallan heart to hear it get run down so often in Mordian's vids. ;)
The hellhammer has unfortunately fallen far from its throne it held in ages past. Before 9th edition, the hellhammer, and to some extent the eradicator, were fearsome machines. The hellhammer was just that, it generally hurt whatever you shot it at, I remember slapping a repulsor executioner into oblivion with main gun. Now I would struggle to kill a marine squad
I feel you. I have one about 25% painted but considering how badly placed it is now I have no motivation to finish it.
