Great video, man! I played my first game tonight and had a blast even though I got absolutely destroyed. I went with the Inquisitors because they looked cool, and then realised it wasn't a one-box team and added some Breachers to the mix. Certainly not the easiest way to kick off, but the challenge ahead is one I'm excited for!
Thanks so much! You have definitely jumped into the deep end BUT in saying that Inquisition are a massive “rule of cool” army and you can test and sample lots of other KT’s alongside them. I’d say it’ll work out for the best!! Enjoy!
Same for me. At my LGS, most of the 40K and age of sigmar guys have been super clickish and unwelcoming. The kill team guys seem to be the folks who are tired of Games workshops crap, but who still love the universe and want to just pick up games and play. They were really friendly and I'm absolutely going to join their ranks even though I already have stuff for the other games.
I started playing recently, and of the Kill Teams I've picked up Farstalkers are the most fun and easy to use. There is a tiny kitbash you need to get all the specialists out of one box (Just glue the Stalker arms on one of the Warrior bodies) so maybe not the absolute best for someone looking to buy their first kit, but it's a good option to lend out to someone who wants to try playing before buying anything.
17:19 They can perform a counteract but the shoot action requires that they be engaged, so they can only use a counteract in concealment for certain actions still. They can't shoot or charge. They can perform a movement action (max 2") or fight if they're already in range of someone, or they can do a 1AP mission action if they are able to do so at the time.
I'm slowly learning the rules, but have an Angels KT 90% done and already thinking what next. Have kommandos vet guard and plague marines as an option... decisions decisions! On a side note, woukd be great to see a gallowdark / into the dark MDF terrain set, as i really cant be arsed painting all the plastic version pieces!
This is a great problem to have “what team is next!?!?” I have a heap of teams and love switching it up. Angels of Death are an awesome army to start with though. I think some 3rd party suppliers out there do make some pretty awesome MDF ITD stuff, not having to paint terrain is the best 😂
Thanks for the video I had no idea they were going to rotate teams out kinda sad as I just bought a box for hunter clade on Saturday but I was also going to pick up the nemeses claw I hope a local store I know still has a box for them
Yeah it is a bit of a bummer for sure, but you still have just under a year with the clade at officially tournaments, but way longer around that. Good luck with the claw, they are a fun team!!
I think that to begin with I would buy the starter sets and the expansions and get each faction. Ill make sure to buy the rebox because alot of people think they just come with a card of tokens but the hidden bonus is that they cost twenty bucks more. Gonna snatch up those Kriegs too. Dont play guard, but you know, pile of shame.
For those looking for a more melee focused think mandrakes would be a decent choice. Though the whole “within” shadow may take a bit to not screw up (which I often do😅)” also you are very squishy. But honestly if you want to play a kill team where everyone has a big sword , bringing a little fantasy into the sci-fi , I think mandrakes are worth looking into .
Not yet! I haven’t played them enough yet to feel confident talking about all their stuff. A mate of mine has started using them in our gaming group, so may have some thoughts soon!
I was always a space marine and ork player in 40k, but always like the lore and look of necrons. Looking at the GW preorder newsletter, it looks like theyre re-releasing Hierotek Circle. Being a beginner in Kill team, are they a decent entry level team or should I get more used to the game before going for them?
The Heirotek are an interesting team. They are actually a very powerful faction and are doing really well competitively, but they do have a lot of moving pieces to get it all flowing. A few great things they have going for them as a beginner faction is most of the models are naturally tough, they can hit like a tonne of bricks, they have a strong leader operative AND they can come back from the dead and heal up! So, some real positives, just prepare yourself for a little bit of a mental load of things to remember as most of their operatives have special/different things they want to be doing. Also in the box set you will only get one of the leader options to so build up the others or mix up the team their may be some things you will want to add. I always think rule of cool is the best way to go if that team is speaking your language go for it, just be patient as you work through their all their stuff!
God bless you if you actually WANT to play the same team for more than a year or two. The rotation really won’t be a problem going forward. It’s a little annoying for the 1 year teams, but the rest are fine.
Yep, it’s a great place to start 😎 2 great teams, you can’t go wrong learning with either of them. Both have their own flavour. Plus you get the terrain, tokens, game board etc for the price it really gets you moving!

Hahaha I assumed!!! I shouldn’t ever generalise! Thank you for watching!!!
I would add Kasrkin to the list. One of the most (if not the most) straightforward teams out there.
A very good shout! I played them for a long while and you are spot on!
@@3StoWound I hear they have tight games against Wyrmblade ;)
Any guard bois, just because they are super cool. I love the krieg, the kasrkin, the aquilons et cetera

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been watching Killteam from the sidelines for years and 2025 is the year I’ll finally get into playing it!
So great to hear!! I hope this vid helped! Good luck out there

@@Jeremus717 Im an age of sigmar player, and they guys at my local are great! Id just love to mix it up with different / shorter games
I'm not new, I'm just bad. Great video for a guy like me who wants to branch out past the two kill teams he hasn't won a single match with.
Glad the vid could help! Those wins are on the horizon

Just found your shorts. HILARIOUS

Great vid, really informative.
Appreciate it!
I have about 12 kill teams and just purchased the Hivestorm box and starter set, I was a collector but want to start playing.😊

Thanks for tuning in!
I was your 10k sub. 🎉
I wish I had a prize befitting this legendary move!! Thnak you!!!

This seems very thorough 😂
Rhys: there are no wrong answers.
Me: learnt to play KT with Exaction on release 😂
“There is only one wrong answer” 😂
Thx for this. One note Salvagers are not a one box team. To have all gunners you need two boxes…. 🎉
Appreciate the heads up! Thanks for watching

Madrakes definitley a fun team to start with! At least they have some good damage output and can be sneakily survivable!
You dont have any videos on the mandrakes? Interesting

100%, most people love switching it up and mixing teams. It will be the rare few who play just one faction.
Where is the section on the starter set?
Jump to 23:42!
Scalpers bought the fuck out of the Nemesis Claws...
I got the new starter set is it any good ?
Yep, it’s a great place to start 😎 2 great teams, you can’t go wrong learning with either of them. Both have their own flavour. Plus you get the terrain, tokens, game board etc for the price it really gets you moving!
@ are the 2 teams decent to play against other squads ?
Salvagers over Kasarkins for basics? Interesting
Only by a touch, the extra survivability with the 3+ save I think helps tip it their way. Kasrkin still a great place to start for sure though.
There is no wrong answer...
Picks naval breachers as starting team XD
I mean it's not wrong......but it may not be right 🤣
Angels of death?
Angels of Death are included in the starter set!
Dont start !
Keep ur money !
Dont enter this rabbit hole !
hahahah this is considerably cheaper!
Clearly Navy Breachers. When you lose, you can just blame faction balance.
This is the secret sauce!
Man my poor breachers
This video is completely AI. The real Rhys never uploads videos.
Guilty!
