As always, thank you for putting up your reaction. Mihawk is a fan favorite as you can tell. Can't wait for your episode 6 reaction. Also, don't worry about the numbers right now. They will go up. One Piece fans love to watch reaction videos and will find you. We just have many to go through 😁😊
It also gave the reader a good idea of what it meant to be the greatest Swordsman in the World. - You get the idea of what Zoro has to acheive in order to be classified as the greatest.
Mihawk is literally exactly how I imagined him in live action. The costume, the casting, the weapons, and the acting are all spot on. His absurdly over the top introduction is the most perfectly ridiculous anime thing ever.
I loved that Garp laughs after Luffy escapes. I come from reading the manga and I always got the sense that while Garp hated that Luffy was a pirate, he loves that he’s living with freedom. This encapsulates that perfectly. The line Mihawk says about hunting rabbits with a cannon is taken directly from the manga. And I love that Zoro uses the same finishing move, though he actually shouts out its name In the manga. In the manga, Sanji's hair is always covering his left eye. I love the way they handled the hair over Sanji's eye here. It's not that he styles it that way intentionally. It's like it's always falling in his face and it happens so often, especially when he's cooking, that he's just used to it.
The Power scaling on this show is actually pretty good. The way they show how powerful Mihawk is compared to Zoro makes you excited on how strong the Strawhat Crew can be in the future.
Mihawk swoops in, changes the entire tone of the series, and just leaves because he likes what he saw. Great intro for him and an excellent intro for Sanji as well. Love the first half of the episode because of it gave the crew some time to chill out and have some bonding moments. Overall a fantastic episode. Saw you getting into it at the end calling for Luffy to jump in but that's just not how he's wired lol
It is kind of unclear in the live action, but people in this show can get ridiculously strong/fast even without devil fruit powers. Luffy's Grandpa, Mihawk, and the butler kuro have no devil fruit powers. They literally just trained to get that strong/fast. It's an anime thing.
@@JoshBou they kind of should because the physics look to be the same and the humans are built like us. I also would have liked it if the live action show showed us the globe of their world. I see a lot of newcomers confused about the geography.
Yeah i see a LOT of reactors keep sayin OH he must have eaten a devil fruit all the Time and its NO this is a Fantasy world and people have crazy abilities just By Training hard.
I mean, even in the manga, the power explanation about that 'other' thing is still vague. Also, I don't think Oda want to reveal about it early, either.
That promise Zoro makes to never lose another duel is so great. In that moment, when he raises his friends sword, you don't know if the vow he makes to never lose again is directed at himself, his friend, the straw hat gang or maybe all 3.
Mihawk is definitely a fan favorite character. The baddest of badasses if there ever was one. Also they said he is one of the 7 Warlords of the Sea. So just imagine there are 6 more like him! Awesome world building that the series is known for.
So one thing you have to understand about duels is once you make the challenge, you put your life, and your honor on the line. Backing out is dishonorable. Getting a scar on the back as you try to flee is dishonorable. Zoros character is supposed to be Japanese (verified by Oda Sensei) So his character makes sense to live by the bushido code to some extent. Zoros commitment to his code is what makes Mihawk leave a scar vs taking his life. Mihawk did respond and say “Magnificent.” In that moment he recognized his talent, and his conviction. He allowed him to get stronger. (Without spoiling) Mihawk is always searching for a worthy adversary, and is always left disappointed. So him recognizing the “Demon Pirate Hunter” he’s never heard of is actually a huge deal.

Part of the reason Zoro challenged Mihawk is because he saw this as his only opportunity. Most people don’t just run across Warlords of the Sea. The other reason is youthful arrogance and being a big fish in a small pond. By the time the series even starts Luffy and Zoro have pretty much already outgrown the East Blue, which is one of the least dangerous parts of the world. They’re used to rolling everyone they come across there. Mihawk serves as a wake-up call to both of them of the challenges that await them on the Grand Line.
I went into One Piece not knowing anything and left wondering why the hell it took this long for me to watch it! I cannot wait for your reaction on the last few episodes! Season 2 cannot come soon enough!

Episode 5 and 6 were probably my favorites but overall the back half was better than the first half I reckon, the whole last 4 had good beats throughout. Sanji was a great addition too, his character is awesome
the introduction of Sanji is funny lol i love his scenes! also Zoro and Mihawks fight was awesome. "grow strong and come find me" gives me chills every time lol we got to see a little bit of Nami's story and you know something is up with her. over all, this was a great ep, nice build up!
They did an amazing job translating the distance between Zoro and Mihawk in this fight, and glad you picked up on it right away. Just goes to show how much actual growth is needed by Zoro and the crew to succeed.
As a many year long One Piece fan i really enjoy seen a big youtuber like Kristian Harloff, who i have followed since Collider days do live reaction to this One Piece show and to get new perspektiv from him and people who are now to One Piece is so fun. :)
Mihawk is a glimpse into the Grand Line and in the season 2 we already enter the Grand Line and another saga begins, this first season covers 90% of East Blue Saga. Season 2 should be way crazier, it'll be even tougher to translate everything into live-action and probably we will see some more changes. But, if they succeed, oh boy, it'll be unbelievable.
Appreciate you sticking to it. There were highlights to ep 3 and 4 fersure but me personally the last 4 are the episodes I am most excited to watch your reactions for. I still watched the last 2, but i am hyped for these last ones for you to watch!
Episodes 5 and 6 are personally my favorite, but all the episodes are pretty good. Glad to see you commit to the whole series. There's some key moments in this season, but it's honestly the slowest part of the original story. Lots of setup for the characters before they go on the big journey to find the One Piece. Netflix already green lit season 2, and is talking about doing 6 seasons. We'll see ow far they can get, but they're doing a pretty good job so far.
Don Krieg (yellow armor guy) is the original villain of this arc on the anime and manga, is probably one of the biggest changes made to the live action but it works
These are coming out faster than I expected. The 2nd half of the series is where it ramps up but do love the build up of the world. It really showcases just how powerful some of the pirates are and states very early on that Mihawk is just one of seven Warlords and the series carries on that story thread for years. Hope you enjoy the rest
I’ve been waiting for Kristians reaction. I’m so happy that people are finding this story in one form or the other. It’s freaking great and only gets more and more intense as the series goes on.
Yeah Sanji is my favorite character in the whole series but the way the actor they got to play Mihawk brought him to life was beyond awesome and really stole the show. The episodes from here on are all great, can't wait to see your reactions.
Mihawk was awesome. I love how bored he sounded, like everyone is unchallenging to him. He craves a challenge, like a level 99 player in an RPG who beats everyone, effortlessly.
You're actually a really chill reactor, I really like it. One of the first ones I've seen who's like "bad idea" regarding mihawk and zoro. Keep it up buddy!
This episode is so anime in style. From Mihawk’s air slash attack taking down a whole ship to their duel where they slash and then pose with backs turned waiting for the outcome.
Regarding Garp strength, keep in mind we are not on Earth. Just like in Star Wars, some characters are super powerful, and some characters don't look humans. Won't say more to not spoil anything.
I think you mentioned in one of these reactions (possibly for one of the trailers) that your daughter is into the anime. Do you know how far she is (either episode or arc) and how she's enjoying it so far?
This and the next are my favorite episodes of the season. 😁 They'll kind of show why in the next ep, but it was integral that Luffy not interfere with that fight, no matter the outcome. This scene cements Zoro's entire character and development for the rest of the series. Also, Nami is the crew's single brain cell for a long while. Thanks for the reaction!
Love the reactions. I think it’s such a great show. There’s been a lot of fun promotional stuff release including Iñaki (Luffy) meeting Luffy’s Japanese’s voice actor, the manga creator, people from the publishing company. The common thought is that he is Luffy come to life.
Kristian I’m happy to enjoy my second viewing of this episode with you. I’m very happy a second season was confirmed. One Piece has so many great story arcs and characters that keeping getting it right in live action is a such a difficult task but as any fan I hope they just do it. It will be marvelous!

Hey Kristen, you know I had to come back for another. This arc made me fall in love with the series. It played out a little differently in the Manga/Anime. I recommend watching it/reading it. Loving the commentary. Will definitely be back ✌🏿
Mihawk is such a good representation of what could be for the characters (specifically zoro but everyone in general) and the concept of the warlords goes so hard man forgot how hype their intro was
For Kristian bcuz he likes the snails. Have u noticed the detail in making every snail resemble the user. It shows the effort used when adapting this show
Kristian there's a great video on youtube titled "Zoro vs Mihawk (Remastered vs Live action)" where you can see the exact visual differences of the anime and netflix counterpart, much more blood in the original version which really helps sell just how critical of a condition Mihawk left Zoro in.
I'm a anime fan but never got into the One Piece aninme, but i'm having a great time watching this show on my own, and then watch it with Harloff. Glad your doing a reaction vid to it
Mihawk is one of the coolest and most powerful characters in the story. I'm so glad they did him right. Also a good choice to relegate Don Kreig to a cameo. He had a battle with Luffy in the anime but it really wasn't necessary when you are condensing.
I can see why they removed it with only 8 episodes, but that fight is interesting in that it pits Kreig’s traditional strength vs Luffy’s unwaivering commitment to his goal. It’s the first fight Luffy gets real fucked up in and his fight and Zoro vs Mihawk is kinda what cements their trust in each other as well as convince Sanji to fight with and eventually join the crew.
I have really enjoyed your reactions! I am very glad you are enjoying the One Piece universe! You are AWESOME Kristian! Your reactions are honest, fresh, and so damn funny! You get to meet Sanji ( crew member) and Mihawk this episode!
What's fun about it is you wondering where its gonna go from here. It goes big. Very, very big! The storytelling gets better and better and I sincerely hope the live action continues to do the story justice.
Its great that they introduced Mihawk this early, because the first few episodes it makes seem like Zoro and Luffy are ridiculously overpowered, but then they show you in this episode that they still have a LONG way to go.
This is the episode that locked me in, the first two were great, second two showed the weaknesses of adapting an anime into live action the most of the series so far, while still being compelling story-wise, and then this one just took off.
I mean, Syrup Village is widely considered the worst arc in the whole series (or at least one of the worst), so I think it's less about the challenges of adapting it and more about the source material for that arc just not being that great. If anything I feel like they improved Syrup Village over the anime/manga version.
Pleasure going on the journey with you. This show is something that shouldn’t work but it really does & I couldn’t help but be invested all the way with a big smile on my face.
Mihawk doesn't have any Devil Fruit powers; he's just awesome like that XD Glad you're enjoying the series man; can't wait for you to see the rest (and maybe be inspired to watch the anime? I can hope lol)
Common get my man to 20 k on this vid. Loving the content on channel at the moment. Good vibe and bit of fun everyday. Think this strike is really showing what a creative talent you are Kristian.
Mihawk introudction was amazing. Only thing was missing for the fans is his entrance on his own boat. If you think he is cool. Waitnl till you see his boat later on 😂
For me this was the first of a great run of episodes bringing in the end of the season. I understand now how much has changed from the original Manga as I have dived into the East Blue arc and there so much more to it, but I can completely understand why most of the changes were made.

One of the best episodes, for sure.
It's just peak from here on out. Super glad you decided to continue reacting to this show.
Thanks for watching!
That was awesome. Thanks for doing these Kristian.
I'm here for the battle between Kristian and Alexa. Great reaction
Pleasure going on the journey with you. This show is something that shouldn’t work but it really does & I couldn’t help but be invested all the way with a big smile on my face.
Mihawk doesn't have any Devil Fruit powers; he's just awesome like that XD
Glad you're enjoying the series man; can't wait for you to see the rest (and maybe be inspired to watch the anime? I can hope lol)
The show really did Mohawk justice. This was my favorite episode too and love your reaction;
Awesome reactions Kristian. I’ve been watching your videos for years. Means a lot that your diving into our world of one piece
Common get my man to 20 k on this vid. Loving the content on channel at the moment. Good vibe and bit of fun everyday. Think this strike is really showing what a creative talent you are Kristian.
Great reaction as always Kristian! From here it just gets better!
Mihawk introudction was amazing. Only thing was missing for the fans is his entrance on his own boat.
If you think he is cool. Waitnl till you see his boat later on 😂
Vice-Admiral Monkey D. Garp (the hero of the navy), throwing cannon balls is what he likes to do, he more accurate than a cannon lol
For me this was the first of a great run of episodes bringing in the end of the season.
I understand now how much has changed from the original Manga as I have dived into the East Blue arc and there so much more to it, but I can completely understand why most of the changes were made.
love it!! I can't say enough how refreshing your takes are!! loving the series so far :)
I'm so happy you're watching this whole series with us
