I'm getting tired of every old 2D show getting a cgi reboot. But you know, it actually looks pretty decent here. And what really matters is whether or not the spirit of the old show is still there. First impressions aren't great, but who knows?

Yeah most if not some CG shows still look like something out of the late 2000s early 2010s because there’s more money for CG going to movies rather than TV, and studios have little to no incentive to make computer generated tv shows look like their film counterparts.

The CGI designs for Dora and gang look pretty great for the most part, but I will admit, the animation itself does look at bit slow and stiff in some areas, but that’s just me.
Let’s see if the show itself will still capture the spirit and energy of the original show. That’s all that matters, really.
As someone who used to love Dora back then, seeing Dora in 3D feels like a fever dream. I like that they are trying to make Dora more modern for the kids now. But this just seems weird to me...idk....

The new Dora doesn't look too bad tbh. As long as the new show behaves in the same manner as the original one, I don't think there'll be any problems with it, like that Blue's Clues reboot seems to be doing pretty well still.

1:41 I agree, especially since the OG audience are likely teens and adults by now, they most likely will want to check out the new Dora for nostalgia sakes in a new way. The animation certainly won’t keep them on for a while

My mom loves dora. Like she likes the character and loves to watch it with my younger siblings. When i told her about this and showed her the image, she said "EWW NOO! I liked the old dora better." 😂 she was genuinely upset and i think thats amazingly hilarious.

@cartooneditor4513 Blue, Dora, Little Bill, Little Bear, Franklin and Oswald used to be the core NickJr programs in the 90's with Kipper and Shining Time Station from PBS also being added in...hosted by Face. Bubble Guppies was interesting as was Butterbean's Cafè, but i don't think that it ever reached the Multi-generational thing like Blue & Dora did.
I don’t think it’s that hard to just…make a whole new channel exclusive to itself. Bubble Guppies’ channel being gone is like deleting a whole show from existence.

Speaking of Bluey, you know with that show's excessive popularity and influence it has had on kids television in general and what standards to push towards from now on, I'm not expecting the Dora reboot to do nearly as well as that show. Or Blue's Clues for that matter since at least that reboot respects the original's legacy a LOT more....
I'm a Nickelodeon kid so before I started to watch my favourite shows like SpongeBob, Penguins of Madagascar, Fairly Odd Parents) I've watched the nick jr. shows like Dora a lot.
It's strange to see new cartoons in CG but I hope younger generations will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed 2D versions of them. 😊

The 3D animation of this is ok, but I’d rather prefer the 2D animation.
It's not the first time Dora tried going 3D. On the Funline Animation, they have a intro for Dora and Friends that shows the spinoff was going for this rather than 2D. It was pretty good too, but I'm cautious about this Dora going forwards, and I hope they don't massacre my girl.
I'm worried the design changes, splitting the episodes in two, changing the animation from the prior footage to cheaper animation in the final animation, getting rid of funline animation to pipeline studios and cutting out some of the songs (maybe it's false information or real and they might add them in the second season) except for the new fiesta trio and mapa might give this reboot backlash compared to blue's clues and you. If it will get backlash, hopefully they'll return to older closer to the original cgi animation for last year and earlier this year and go back to 22 minute episodes and put back the songs I hope.
Now a new Generation of toddlers can Point Dora in the wrong direction

You know what I found confusing? The fact that (what used to be) the Bubble Guppies RUclips channel even featured videos solely about dora in the first place!

Actually, I'm a fan of Bubble Guppies. Its extremely depressing seeing one of my favorite nick jr shows channel rebrand. The new Dora doesn't look bad, but I hope she's not the same Dora from 2000.

Honestly? The CGI isn't the part that worries me. I think CGI Dora *could've* worked, but they didn't hit the mark on this one. However...
The thing that scares me the most about this reboot is the fact that there isn't any viewer interaction from what I've seen.
Like, the viewer interaction was what made the show so iconic!
Well, the fake interaction no longer works in 2023 - and other shows like Gabby's Dollhouse, Blaze & the Monster Machines, even the Blue Clues' reboot does it better.
When I was a kid, we were really quite spoiled for animation. I like variety in animation, I think both 2D and CGI are good, but when everyone is defaulting to CGI, I miss 2D. I mean, if you look at Tangled and The Princess And The Frog, they were both beautifully animated movies, even though one was CGI and one was 2D. I think it's time for 2D to make a comeback though now!

The original show's design was special because the show was based on 90's point&click games, so it would have been nice if they leaned more into the video game aspect of the show. The concept could have worked as a "remastered" version of the original Dora

If there's one good thing I can say about the upcoming Dora, it's Marc Weiner reprising his role as Swiper.
What upsets me is that we're not getting the same map.
Wasn't he in the entirety of the whole eight seasons of the original as both Map and Swiper? He's the only VA in the original that wasn't replaced later down the line, I think. And now he's in the reboot? That man's a machine!

Considering the world of Dora was a point-and-click educational PC game, the CG mobile-game artstyle does feel like the next logical step.

It's a shame that the animation has to be as stiff as it is, especially when seeing what it could have been by looking at the short film. I know it's probably because they have a lower budget, but I feel like the budget should have been bigger from the start. Shows for children have the potential to look incredible, and there are a few that do. I feel like big corporations forget that the parents of the kids are probably going to end up watching a bit of the show too.

0:59 Fun fact actually, Dora always had earrings, in the episode Dora had a little lamb when shes washing behind her ears and they’re uncovered by her hair you can see she wears earrings. You just can’t really see her ears because of her hair 😅

Despite the animation looking a little choppy and slow, I think the new designs are a great glow up from what we used to have growing up. I really wasn't a fan of Dora's hair in the OG show because it looked too wide to me. Her hair in the reboot however is much better and more realistic and also has some nice upgrades to it, like the pink band around it (I'm not a hairstylist, I just think some designs didn't look right to me. But it's a cartoon and for that, I'll let things slide). Adding on, I also like her model way more than the original design of her because its more expressive and looks like enough effort and time was put into animating her along with the rest of the characters, even though they move kinda slow. And as the entire show itself, I love how it has Video Game type visuals to it. It looks very polished and it looks like a huge step up from the OG Dora. Kinda looks like "If SEGA owned Dora The Explorer"
