Bluey AND Gumball Tweeted HORRIBLE Art (So I Fixed It)

- We're back at it again, redrawing lousy illustrations Tweeted (X'd?) out by Cartoon Network and Disney. This time it's Darwin from the Amazing World of Gumball and Bluey from... Bluey... that need a helping hand in the art department, and we're only too happy to help!

Darwin has been portrayed as black for so long that people would have been far more mad if he wasn’t. Fan art made him black when drawing him as a human, and Cartoon Network has been implying he’s black for quite some time.
Yeah I feel like this guy needs bit more background knowledge on the shows itself, NOT just the art styles of the main characters
yeah i was surprised people were pissed but ig it's people who only know the character in passing/not involved in material outside of the show
So is Canon that Darwin can say the n word
@@eldankdoge is that all black people are now? what is the obsession with the n word. do something with your life

At this point every company that wants to make this type of drawings should hire you because they are *REALLY* bad at this💀
Suprised they havent replaced their artists with disgusting AIs with how greedy they are
@@Pigness7to be honest, they probably wouldn’t know half of the styles 💀

Like I tried this style challenge a while ago and it was pretty easy
True
16:47 despite there not even being a powerpuff girl style originally, you still drew what the bad attempt would look like and i love that attention to detail
Harry Gold: Fine, I'll do it myself.
14:58 just to add something to Darwin to look even cooler and part of the Chowder's universe, make the green part of the Shoes with a green background pattern like every character's clothes.
OMG YESS that would be amazing.
He did something similar on the Twitter version of the drawing.
It's astonishing that Harry draws Bluey in a Muppet style that managed to replicate not only the 2D style from _Muppet Babies,_ but also created as an actual Muppet, which makes Jim Henson proud.
THAT SAID... he technically didn't really hit on the specific style used in Bear in the Big Blue House. but I'll let it slide, it's close, and would not look the least bit out of place on that show. Only Shadow looks out of place.

@@TethrarxitetAre you a part of the OSC?
@@TheWorldsLargestOven indubitably, the world's largest oven, why do you ask?
My guy Harry really made a collage of CGI and Live-Action puppet parts into a relatively authentic looking interpretation.
This is something I wouldn't expect an animation studio to pull off even WITH the budget.
he also managed to accurately draw what a human would look like in bluey with literally no frame of reference (other than MAYBE "jetpack joyride" who was partly created by a game studio that the creator of bluey founded)
the guy has mad skills
Can't express enough how much i love Dexter's Lab version of human Darwin. That's just so creative. Also, fish version is just precious, you captured his adorableness perfectly.

Im actually stunned on how good your edits are. You could tell me that was a real Mickey Mouse Clubhouse character and I wouldn’t bat an eye!
Nice DHMIS profile pic
He maxed his design points
17:21 I love how all they did for Courage was dunk him in piss
The Darwin one's were definitely an improvement to their previous ones. Still janky in some places, but it looks like the artist actually tried this time.
The only thing that was missing on your Chowder styled Darwin is the wallpaper texture on the clothing, probably on Darwin's shoes. The wallpaper texture on the clothing is kinda a staple of the show.
He did something similar in the Twitter version of the drawing.
Idk why people would be mad at darwin being black?? I mean like darwin has ALWAYS been black, its not just a decision they did because they're woke or whatever the show actually portrayed him as black ( like in the shipping episode when darwin was humanized he had dark skin but HE DID have orange hair so they did do a oops on that )
Fr darwin has always been black
people want something to be mad ag
in all fairness humanized gumball had blue hair in that episode and is depicted as white. I dunno about you, but I've never seen a white person with naturally blue hair.
@@PzDallas bro what? I never complained about Darwin being represented as black. I was saying that him being shown with orange hair isn’t crazy given that other humanized versions of characters in the show have non naturally occurring hair colors.
@@PzDallas it’s all good man.
It’s amazing how a particular can make these drawings better than the actual corporation which made them, that’s why I love the Harry Gold Show
12:25 "Why would you make a graphic about drawing styles, where the majority of the styles aren't drawings?"
Well, I feel like they were kind of forced to make that decision, because most Disney Junior shows aren't 2D besides the 2D ones they already chose and Bluey itself. I feel that it's a flawed exercise because they deliberately limited themselves to just that specific section of Disney's cartoon series library, despite its lack of material to actually draw.
Can we just appreciate that Harry Gold noticed CN didn't draw Darwin in PPG art style and then added one himself just so he could redesign PPG style once more.
Also, Vincent Price. What a gorgeous voice he had.
Honestly with the Darwin one they actually did a fairly good job imo.Ddefinitely the best style swap tweet I've seen, although still not perfect as to be expected.
Oo definitely,,I was honestly surprised it was like.. good
I actually thought some of his were worse. Like, making the hat orange? Yikes! It’s so ugly. Theoretically, it could sell the idea that this character is Darwin but it just… doesnt. It unbalances the design. Should’ve made the hat the color of Darwin’s original "clothes" (shoes and socks)
@@offbranddorito9668 agreed! A lot of the human Darwin designs that he made were kind just... eugh. I completely understand wanting to make the character look more like Darwin, but I highly doubt that a kid like Darwin would wear an orange shirt, orange pants, orange hat, ect ect.. and then only wear green boots. I don't really think that making the entire human design orange makes the design closer to their gold fish counterpart, It makes them just seem more like an orange crayon if anything.
Obviously, making the design orange would bring it closer to Darwin, as that's sorta the main thing you see when looking at his design. BUT if that's the only thing you add.. that just won't do. He already said to add some details like making the hair look like a fish tail, so why not add that more onto his clothes as well?? It doesn't have to be as obvious as slapping a fish on the shirt, but making him wear some shirt that sorta looks like fish scales might just help put in the point that this is a humanized fish. It just makes more sense then: "Let's make him wear nothing but orange, and then let's add a detail that make his hair look like a fish tail that most people won't even notice unless if we point it out anyway anyway."
@@glitchydood1558 they could done like many fans do to humanize Darwin by giving him a fish hoddie (like the hood having the fish elements)
@@offbranddorito9668 yeah in gumbal even the show made Darwin black and tall and gumbal is well a white girl because the shipping for some reason made it
9:43
Why would they do this to you?
It's just a bear they turned blue
Is this the best that they could do, Bluey?
12:12
Wonder why Disney suddenly remembered this show? Could it be because...nah, probably just a coincidence...
The music so sad
It's a "bear but turned" not "bear they turned*
It's "best they could" and not "best that they"
I really love the way you did the Foster’s style Darwin, I think that’s my favourite out of all of them. Amazing art as usual :D
Also that looks like Vincent Price
Disney's attenpt at Bluey is almost a perfect metaphor for how they view the show
A couple of the Darwin ones genuinely aren't that bad and relatively fit within the style they're trying to pull off.
The rest... hoo boy.
yeah alot of these attempts would be fine if they weren't trying to do the weird thing with shading and line quality to connect them that they're doing, which only pulls them away from the intended art-style
A lot of them wouldn't be terrible if they weren't trying to transmutate them into one of the main characters
They could’ve simply just made Adventure Time Darwin a mudscamp with green shoes.
honestly none of the darwin "fixes" where really that much of an improvment
I liked his og human design for KND.
i feel like they are just doing it bad on purpose so they can get a new awesome video from this dude
Talent like this shouldn’t be ignored. Thank you for your hard work!
as much as i love Harrys recreation of every Bluey character since he made it look SO accurate i can't still say that those Blueys look's...normal...except Bluey in PikWik style.
Alright i got a complaint. For as much as you focused on adding as much orange as possible, why didnt you make his Steven Universe version a gem? making a magic fish into a magic rock isnt that out of the question, and you could keep his orangeness.
I think it could do with the fact that all of the gems are female, with Steven being the one exception as he’s half human.
@jamesolszewski3782
Wouldn't it be? Elmore's got some wacky and out there characters, I don't think a shapeshifting alien that's also a holographic projection made by a sentient piece of jewelry would be that far out of place.

Other art works of Darwin in different CN art styles aren't as bad as Nickelodeon's abysmal art work of Spongebob or Lincoln Loud.
11:53 *OH.*
Honestly very curious how you managed to do Ed Edd 'n' Eddy's squiggly lines what with the varying line widths and all. Google has been surprisingly unhelpful in finding out how to replicate it.
It's just using normal pressure sensitivity on a drawing tablet!
The second dexter’s lab version of human Darwin is so awesome legit, such a creative and honestly adorable way to portray the character. Mwah
I gotta admit, seeing bluey in the style of Sesame Street or the muppets is quite interesting.
Your art skills are so impressive, you can replicate the original styles perfectly! I like how you even went through the extra effort of fixing Darwins human designs and photoshopping Bluey’s muppet designs.
That caricature looks a lot like Vincent Price. I know for a fact he was in "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo", but I think he also narrated some other horror related stuff.
7:04 HOLY SHIT, THAT IS GENIUS.
I always love Harry’s videos, the production value is so high, and you can tell he is committed to the prime time talk show format, it’s incredible.
Also I’m VERY convinced that the caricature at the end is Vincent Price.
I would commit war crimes for Chowder Darwin
Also, I've never noticed how damn sharp your photoshop skills are. If I'm ever in a life-or-death situation where I need to turn an unsuspected cartoon character into the artstyle of the hit show Muppets Babies (2018), I now know just right guy for the gig
I believe Darwin being black was a pretty big community headcannon thing? So it's kinda cute that CN acknowledges it.
In that one anime scene in the shipping hes drawn as black
Its not a head canon if its in the show 😂
@@MorningStarIDEK oh I didn't know, was it probably that one episode where the ice cream girl's fanfics came to life?
He has a very black voice. You can pretty much tell by the voice.
Here's your TL;DR section, amazing video as always, you're very talented at bringing a new perspective of style to a character! Far better than what people (especially corporations apparently-) often do!
Anyways- I love these because someone finally gets it right! People often just look at the main characters of the media as reference to make an attempt at recreating the artstyle when in reality, that's not what you are supposed to do. I personally think the best way to represent a character in a different artstyle is to look at many different types of characters from the media you are trying to replicate, and try to find some character (or better yet multiple characters!) that matches a similar design and or body of the character you're trying to recreate in a new style!
I love these videos because they show very VERY well on the Do's and Dont's of trying to replicate an artstyle. Extra points for even changing the design of the character to fit the character design of the media you're trying to recreate too!! It's so much more creatively done in a way where it really makes the character fit in a new world!
And these videos provide great tips as well when trying to replicate an artstyle, kudos to you! As always, top notch high quality video!!
Thank you very kindly!!
15:08 it really gives me more breadwinners vibes than anything.
Omg yeah it totally does 😅
The person you drew at the end was Vincent Price. I thought he looked familiar, and then I realized he looked like vincent van ghoul from Scooby Doo, who Vincent Price actually voices in the show.
Edit: also I wanted to add just how talented you, I know you probably get alot of comments about that, but still I'm just so impressed. My favorite of these was the bluey in the mickey mouse style, just wow.
I had the first name, but I kept thinking the name Vincent Van Dyke. Thank you for helping me figure out who that was.
Darn you beat me to it! I agree, I think it is Vincent Price. The mustache and raised eyebrow were the kickers.
5:36 I feel like their’s was kinda stronger for this one. The fin looking hair works really well, and yours been a little flat compared to theirs. You could be made the hair a little more textured
You killed me with that Chowder style Darwin, god damn he looks so cute and wholesome
Excuse my nitpickyness Mr. Gold sir, but while your Bear in the Big Blue House styled Bluey design is really well done, I feel it could potentially be improved!
Bear’s style of puppet construction leans slightly closer to realistic animal proportions compared to most Henson shows, the only exceptions are typically the colours and eyes! Having Bluey resemble an actual dog’s body shape would have helped cement her in the show’s world a little more!
There’s actually already a dog character in the show to reference, Jack the Dog! (Bluey does look like she’d fit in on Sesame Street or The Muppets though!)
Amazing work as always, I love these vids! (Do excuse my crazy ramblings)
I thought the same thing. We are crazy ramblers together.
No for real. I actually think almost all of his bluey designs suffer and don't fit the world their being put in.
He forces the square head shape into all of them- regaurdless of the fact that almost none of those shows USE that shape in their designs.. the Lion Gaurd and Elena ones just came out ugly and looked like her features were sloppily slapped on because the forced headshape doesn't fit in the show styles what so ever.....Like for someone who made such a noise about other style features being ignored- it brothers me that he took a style feature of BLUEY'S art style and forced into all of these other shows despite it just not belonging there..
@@lizziescott well in fairness, dogs do have very square heads.
@@KairuHakubi Not that square. Lol. Alot of Disney's animals are drawn more realistically, especially in things like the lion king franchise. The forced blockhead there just looks incredibly out of place..I get the intentions. But he made such a fuss about the OG not actually following the shows styles rules, it feels even worse that he chose to completely ignore them in favor if forcing in one of Blueys.
@@lizziescott Yeah, I get that too! I really felt kind of off put by most of them and I couldn't really put my finger on it until now. It for sure is because of that Minecraft head

In regards to the shading on the official Darwin art in the tawog style, its possible they're changing the style for the show for the 7th season; it has been a while.
That could b possible! But I feel like it's probably more like just a Spontaneous decision made for that art specifically since I've seen similar off model coloring on other art like it made for posts

13:19 it looks more like it came from Clubhouse to be honest
I don't understand how these ANIMATION companies get these styles SO wrong, like YOU ARE AN ANIMATION COMPANY WHAT??
I argue they have interns to make these redraws while any professional character designer are busy with shows that are being made. Like you can't have someone working on Fiona and Cake to stop working and make these redraws. A random intern that does social media? I'm aure they're skilled enough to make something for their daily posts.
These are definitely just being done by some intern who is decent at drawing but not like some incredible style replicating expert
@@allendepacheco3419 I mean it’s like they haven’t even watched the show, especially with like Ed, Edd, and Eddys lines being thick and thin and Fosters having not much, I draw a lot so it’s just like why
@@klausing7114 Again it could be interns doing the redesigns and probably weren't paid enough to do deep analysis in each show's art style to replicate it accurate compared to Harry Gold. It's very likely that someone had never watch these shows or are going off by memory because they're not character designer whether as professionals or amateurs.
I love watching these. Not only do I get to see great art, but I also end up leaving with a better understanding of the original art styles

Bear in the BBH only uses the standard "muppet eyes" (big white sclera w/ black pupils) for some characters, especially the small ones like the mouse, but for larger characters (as Bluey, a dog, would probably be) the norm is the 'beady black eyes' design.

You do an amazing job at these style swaps, I especially love your Darwins.
Have you ever thought of dipping your toes into those old "how to draw anime" books and roasting them through art corrections? Perhaps an ironic sort of video where you draw iconic anime characters but follow the book to the letter in "correcting" their designs, or the opposite where you fix the designs given in the book with actual artistic choices.
Thanks! I have indeed considered doing something with those 'How to draw Anime' books, some of them are truly terrible...
@@TheHarryGoldShow I would think the tricky part would be just how many there are, and all under the same title (being that you can't trademark something that generic). And the fact that (at least) one of them is a 100% legit actually-drawn-by-mangaka book series with excellent instructions and techniques. It would be like trying to discuss one of those increasingly common franchises that keeps going back to the original plain title over and over, so you have to add the year in parentheses after it each time...
I like how you were able to encapsulate the original art styles so well, yet again! I also really like your video format, whether it be your original editing style, your entertaining metaphors or the animated advertisements, your videos have a distinctly high quality production level that cannot be ignored. Well done. :)

So uh,nick made a "Patrick in different art styles" and it's literally just a photoshopped version of the nasb Patrick render
Hey, could you tell me where to find it? I tried looking it up but nothing came up.
Love this video. But let me tell ya, you missed the chance to portray Darwin as a corrupted gem, like you did with Spongebob becoming a SatAM monster in the TMNT art.
I love seeing Harry Gold make 3d with 2d software.
what a beautiful video the artist puts lots of effort into the drawing and even more effort into the script I find this video wonderful and it deserves more attention than it already has
As more of these style redraws are being made by these media corporations, the art is steadily getting better, to the point where some of them don't even look like they need fixing- until I see your rendition and wonder how it could've been done better any other way. You have a real knack for identifying the distinguishing features of all of these artstyles and replicating them PERFECTLY, which is really inspiring for someone just starting to get into art seriously. Looking forward to seeing whatever you come up with next
Honestly I prefer a lot of the original Cartoon Network versions of human Darwin compared to your fixes, color palette wise
Even if the outfits being pure orange make them closer to the fish design, I think it looks a bit much without more greens or blues to balance it out
Giving him a ponytail to mimic his fin was clever though
YES
Each Network in a nutshell:
Cartoon Network: Tries it's best, succeeds sometimes, but also falls short frequently;
Nickelodeon: Makes the bare minimum to fit the character in an artstyle, always fail;
Disney: Literally doesn't even try, so souless that even Nickelodeon looks good in comparison.
Bluey in different Disney designs just looks like the main characters of those series, but just with her recolour!
Your photoshopped muppets are actually so cool, makes me happy they made those weird choices
8:18 oh god why did you make this
I am absolutely feinding for more of this, my guy
Still can not believe, that this channel is growing so much lately, that is amazing. Not only are the drawings obviously great, but the rest of the editing is equally incredible.
