As a kid at least I still watch some as an adult but when I was younger whenever it would come on I just turned my tv off and went “alright that’s enough of that” and just did something else 😂. I didn’t even watch a lot of cartoons in the first place my parents heavily restricted our tv access but uncle grandpa just about killed it completely.
Fun Fact: Ironically, Nickelodeon used to be an extremely, overly-safe channel from 1979-1985. Shows like Looney Tunes, and other superhero shows were considered "too dangerous" for kids. Then Ren and Stimpy came.
I grew up with garfield & friends, Rocky & Bullwinkle and g1 transformers. I am glad to have not been subjected to what was being played on TV at this time.
I saw a promo for Breadwinners once in college. I only saw it once but I never forgot it. It was just fart jokes-- *intense* fart jokes. I remember thinking, "Is this really the best advertisement they have for a show?" Earlier that day, I saw an episode of "Sanjay and Craig". Someone left the TV on so we all watched it during lunch. The episode was built around Sanjay losing his swimsuit and trying to stop the bully from exposing him to everyone on the beach. One of my friends asked, "Is this supposed to be funny? Like, it's about exposing a minor. This is just uncomfortable." Agreed.
Yeah around this era. Even Mighty B. I stopped watching Nickelodeon. Called in my new bae, CN. I hated Nickelodeon.... even as a kid it seemed so stupid

@@adderae I don't disagree with that. I should actually expand on what I was trying to say. CN is best known for its cartoons, the Disney Channel with its shows and Nick was in the middle of the spectrum, offering both animated and sitcom good shows. Thus whenever it's on a "bad period" it can rerun those shows and due to the variety they can offer, they still remain at the top even with CN (the second popular cartoon Network) having seemingly the better cartoons of said "bad period". As of now though they overstretched that and soon they will need to either come up with hitter shows or wait it out up to bankruptcy. CN doesn't have that luxury since it doesn't have this luxury as they focus on cartoons only and the Disney Channel is run by Disney, whom they are more nitpicky due to its size compared to Nickelodeon.
Remember growing up with these shows. It’s part of the reason why switched to Cartoon Network for The Amazing world of Gumball, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe.
I would always switch to Boomerang as a kid. I got to grow up watching reruns of shows like The Powerpuff Girls (1998), The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, What's New Scooby Doo?, etc.

I beg to differ. Nickelodeon/ViacomCBS doesn't deserve the TMNT franchise since they bought it in October 21, 2009. At that point in those Sponge-milking execs who run that TV Juggernaut became no better than CN/WB (mostly WB) when they bought the Thundercats franchise since 1989, then gave us the 2011 failure of a reboot. I will say, in my opinion, the 2012 TMNT cartoon was more than just fine. It was fantastic! From the writing, to the fight scenes, to the references to older TMNT characters, the show was so freakin' good! 😄

People who say "calm down, it's just a show for kids" summarize the way these series' creators think. They seem to think kids are stupid and will just consume anything. Rise of the TMNT is an example of a cartoon with soul put into it. Gumball is another example. These are cartoons that go a tiny little over the edge with their humor, to such degree that an adult may find themselves enjoying it just as much as a child. That's how you know you made a good cartoon.
anyone that says "It's a show for kids" is actually saying "I'm okay giving kids half-assed shows". If you wouldn't give adults such low-quality content, what makes it okay to give it to kids? Children are much smarter than we give them credit for, they know when they're being belittled or treated as lesser by adults in their life. Kids deserve good stories too
I dont know how you did it but my ass was LOCKED IN on this video, i watched the whole thing and didnt even realize how much time has passed nor did i get bored, good job.
It's kinda complicated because we live in an era now where all cable TV is dying in favor of streaming. So pretty much every channel is like Nickelodeon right now. Especially when it comes to the reboots and revivals which Hollywood has basically been living off of the past 5 years. Cartoon Network brought back Adventure Time a while back with a spinoff and is confirmed to be bringing back Gumball and Regular Show. Compared to the 2010s where cable TV was still alive and well but Nickelodeon was just putting out garbage with no excuse and Cartoon Network was killing it.
No, THE regularer show is coming out a gumball movie a atla movie a new season of gumball and Fiona and cake (adventure time) with many other spin offs but yeah, you still have a point.
Nickelodeon was hypocritical for forcing CH Greenblatt to apologize for making a rant on them because of their mistreatment towards Harvey Beaks and not telling him that the show was cancelled and moved to Nicktoons. Greenblatt even warned a couple of creators to avoid pitching their shows to Nickelodeon no matter what.

Feels like everyone disagrees where the fall of spongebob begins. Too me, it's when they overused the exaggerated face joke. It used to be a pynchlune to a joke, but now any character will just make a face with no rhyme or reason, and it was just off-putting.
Same. That freaks me out when I see it out of the blue (Why I don't like Gumball because of those facial reactions at times). It might seem more soulless now in comparison to its predecessors, but then it just felt right, felt lively, felt really wholesome. The cartoons and live action shows, no matter how brain-dead they may seem now, actually shaped us into who we are now. It might be the nostalgia talking lol, but I genuinely think our era of Nick was OK. Shows like TMNT (2012), iCarly, Victorious, Swindle, Nicky Deuce, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, Game Shakers, The Thundermans, Henry Danger and Sam & Cat definitely deserve more credit than they got as they were really good.

As someone born in 2005, who obviously grew up watching 2010's Nickelodeon, I think I can speak for the rest of the people in my age bracket (2003-2008) by saying that we actually loved 2010's Nick. But I think we can all unanimously agree that 2020's Nickelodeon is absolute brainrot garbage. No real-life lessons for kids, all just brain-dead humour.
Also growing up in the 2010s Nick, I don't think 2010s Nick was just "OK."
It was an inexplicable, crazy mix between garbage, brainrotted trash content and gold, amazing masterpieces. (The shows you mentioned being the latter.)
You do not speak for us.
nah fr idk why they're hating on that era it was a really good one for nickelodeon. Definetly in the Top 2, 2020's sucks and pre 2010 was aight.
@@WolzenTwo No no, he's right. Not all of those shows were peak but they definitely weren't as horrible as this video makes it out to be. To say it was the most horrible era and lable them that you'd wish you could forget them is just outright a sin.
@@somisimons Fr! I like your explanation better!! There are shows I remember genuinely not liking either. But I liked most shows that I watched.
wow, this video really brought back some memories! i appreciate how you highlighted the ups and downs of nickelodeon over the years. but honestly, i think the so-called "worst era" isn’t as bad as some people say. i mean, everyone raves about the classics, but there was still some hidden gem shows during that time. just my two cents!

Nickelodeon is like one of those ancient civilizations that have the most advanced tech and the most reasonable laws with the largest population, that just fall for no reason.
Had to wait until about 4/3AM every night for Doug and the Rugrats to play on a certain channel was such a weird childhood memory I have.
Literally! I’d wait till nick at night to play and watch all the old shows. I’d also do the same on boomerang, since old shows and specifically Pokémon movies would play than.
“A Pal For Garry” scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid, I would remember the beginning of the episode and immediately try to skip it

Fun fact: Doug, Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy were all released before the fall of the soviet union. Furthermore, both Gábor Csupó (creator of Rugrats) and James Jinkins (creator of Doug) existed during Stalin's rule over USSR (born 1952)
