    I upgraded from ipad4 to ipad pro M2 12.9 last week & i love it. Took me 10years for the upgrade since only this M2 ipad pro seem able to satisfy my need. I do have Samsung Tab S6 for drawing as well & decided to pass on to my kid for her to practice her drawing. Not easy to choose between Tab S8 Ultra & M2 Ipad pro though. Again i choose ipad pro because of Procreate & Lumafusion.

    Just purchased one, thanks for you reviews. I personally think Mini Led is a big steps for tablets. Most battery power big screens are very limited to brightness, but this mini led has a lot of potential, specifically for SDR Manual (Auto Off) Regular Everyday Brightness, because thats what we all really need the most. My Tab S8 Ultra is only reaching 420 Nits manual, so i got this to use outdoor as the s8U doesnt cut it.

    I really like the Bellemond screen protectors ($11). Wanted to stay away from paperlike at all costs after seeing how poorly the new versions hold up. I don’t care for the glare that all matte screen protectors have in direct sunlight, but I found my hand sticking to the glass too often for large strokes without it. Drawing gloves limit 3 fingered gestures so the screen protector ended up being the best option for me. Been using my bellemond for 5 months now and it still looks just as good as the day I applied it. All drawing marks that are left on the screen protector have been temporary and come up with ease with a simple screen cleaning. It rejects fingerprints which is a nice bonus over the glass.

      @@teohontech7141 haha, yeah you would think that. Seems all the major channels that cover art and design hardware are sponsored by them. After watching multiple unbiased comparison videos of people testing various screen protectors I was often not impressed with how the new paperlike screen protectors held up. They seem to get noticably and permanently roughed up withing a very short period of time.

    Thank you for another brilliant product review Teoh! I have a question; do you reckon it might possible to use the apple pencil to work in an application being displayed on the external display via Stage Manager? You did mention that it’s not possible to use a pen on the screen, just a keyboard and mouse, but I’m wondering if you could use the iPad itself for pen input? Or does that only work in mirror mode?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Год назад +2

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Год назад +6

      Not sure about Autocad as I don't use that software. But my general advice is to choose base on the software you want to use. If you already have a computer, iPad is a good choice. If you are upgrading a computer, laptop is better choice

    • @FredericoHSSilva
      @FredericoHSSilva Год назад +7

      Hey blik, as an architect and a ipad pro owner, no you cant't run most of the softwares, only sketchup is available on the ipad, but is not complete, because you can't run pluguins that speed the workflow inside the app, my use case for the ipad as an architect is concept / design (sketch) ideas and then go to Revit or AutoCad, and the ipad help me to take pdf to the construction site, but that's it.

      @@teohontech7141 As beginner which type of tablet should I but android,ipad or graphic table please tell me

    • @lego_minifig
      @lego_minifig Год назад +1

      @@Pushkar_090 that really depends on you. Brad Colbow has some great videos breaking down the differences. What kind of work will you be doing? If it’s just drawing then any should work.
      Do you have a decent computer that can handle the software you want smoothly? Then I’d snag a graphics tablet. You can get one without a screen for around $40 or if you want a screen check out xp-pen or Huions offerings. I personally own the xp-pen artist 15.6 and the 22 E Pro. Both are great tablets. But keep in mind, if you use a PC app you will need to learn keyboard shortcuts. It’s daunting at first to learn, but once you have it down you will be able to work extremely quickly and efficiently.
      Is portability important? Then get a tablet. One thing to keep in mind is that the iPad currently has more pro-level apps than android. Affinity 2 just released so you have access to a fully featured vector, raster, and publishing software (you can get a universal license that works on Windows, Mac, and iPad). Procreate, Illustrator, Fresco, Vectornator (free), and Artstudio Pro are also great apps on the iPad with most of them being a one time purchase. The base level iPad should be able to do most everything well enough. Better hardware usually equates to being able to use more layers or work on bigger files. Shortcuts are optimized as gestures and are much more approachable than keyboard shortcuts. Clip studio is really the only app on android that sticks out to me as being really good on the platform, but I believe that has a subscription.
      I personally added the 2021 iPad Pro to my workflow after Covid sent me to the hospital for a week and it has been a fantastic addition to my process as a graphic design student. I usually sketch out my ideas in procreate then switch over to illustrator on my PC. I tend to prefer working with my mouse when using vector software so I find myself using my Apple Pencil more than my pen display. That being said, my pen display is invaluable when working in photoshop for quickly and accurately selecting, painting, and erasing shapes accurately and organically. Saved me hours of time erasing around some shapes a few weeks ago when I was creating a typeface out of images of woodblock type. Sure I could have done this task on the iPad as well, but photoshop on the desktop has more advanced selection features and keyboard shortcuts which make it the process faster.

The upgrade from 9.7 to 12.9 is mostly the increase in size. And yes, I think it's worth it even if it's an upgrade to 11-inch because more space means you have more canvas space to draw with and UI elements don't take up as much space (proportionally speaking).

    I’ve seen a lot of reviewer talk about holding their ipad (or paper tablet) with one hand while they draw. Do people do that? I always rest a paper pad on my knee or something. I’ve never heard of someone doing that before watching these reviews.

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Год назад

      Not many people will do that unless their work requires. I personally do when I have to stand and sketch on location with no place to put the iPad down, or maybe the scene I draw requires a standing position.
      Anyway, the deciding factor between 11 vs 12.9 really comes down to whether you can set the tablet down on a surface.
      Coincidentally, I just wrote this few minutes ago

    Yet they still don't automatically rotate "portrait mode only" apps to landscape for us. And the mini-keyboard is a fixed size (too small for me)

    • @teohontech7141

      And they don't have the option to have portrait apps open in portrait or landscape. A feature that's available on Samsung tablets.

      @@teohontech7141 seems like a reasonable feature to implement. It’s really annoying to be set up in landscape mode then some app wants you to rotate your screen.

      Right? The only reason I would get an ipad is because of this issue. Does android have a problem that prevents developers from making stuff for android?

      @@samanthaspadeson1982 yes, quality control, but as long as Samsung seems to be making good hardware developers will come eventually. I personally prefer my tab S8 plus over my iPad pro for drawing, writing watching movies etc and multitasking is way better on a Samsung tablet.
