I own both a 12.9 and also an 11”. If I’m using the iPad at a desk or attached to my magic keyboard I prefer the 12.9. But as soon as I grab the iPad off the magic keyboard and want to use it as a tablet. The 11” wins hands down every time. Laying in bed watching a movie, watching RUclips videos on the toilet, sitting on the sofa reading the news. The 11 is way more comfortable to hold and a better tablet. The 12.9 feels bulky and wayyyyy heavier. Also when traveling. The 12.9 on an airplane tray table is way to big. The 11” is the perfect size. I’d say if you’re solely looking for a Laptop replacement and it’s never going to travel or leave the magic keyboard, the 12.9 is the way to go. If you’re looking for a tablet that can also be used as a desk/laptop item that’s way easier to travel with and hold. Go 11! *New Edit* - I sold my 12.9” iPad for the 15” MacBook air and kept my 11” iPad. I think this is the best of both worlds.
I just love ur xplanation 👏🏻 even my brother regrets gettin 12.9" n often borrows my 11" for binge watchin. Apart from that i really hate the blooming on 12.9" version.. i wish they could fix it by any means.
Totally agree with this comment. I think when the mini LED screen (or maybe OLED one day) comes to the 11”, this will be a total win. I work retail management and don’t need anything more than the 11.” Sure multitasking is better on the 12.9,” but how often is one really multitasking? I have a iPhone pro max if I want a larger video for “multitasking.” If you have a job that requires you to get a larger screen, then iPad is the wrong place to look anyways. MacBook is where to look in that case, and will be more cost effective.
As a digital artist / designer, I LOVE the 12.9 inch. the canvas size is incredible and it acts really nice as an extended monitor with big projects.I feel REALLY productive with the size. My only issues is how heavy it is with traveling - Hence why I might get an ipad air for on the go note taking and sketching.
I had both sized. The bigger size actually made me use the iPad less. I‘m back to the 11“ and again fell in love again with its portable „take everywhere“-size and weight.
@@sefaa4089 Yup, Artists and Musicians choose iPad Pro 12’9 for a reason. Can you use a MacBook for artwork with a pencil? Can you use it for music notation on a stand?
The 12.9 is perfect for me as a student because of the large canvas. It is quite hard to maneuver without a pencil or keyboard, your fingers will get tired easily. I use the magic keyboard everyday and couldn’t imagine the experience without it. With that being said, I would’ve gotten the 11 inch if I was just using it for entertainment and not work because of it’s portability.
I’ve had the 12.9 inch for almost a year and I regret it because it’s so big, yes there is a lot of room to write and see things but carrying/holding it is so annoying
“The 12.9 feels more hefty, feels more luxe, makes me more proud to own it.” Lmao i feel ashamed pulling out a 12.9 inch tablet in a coffee shop if i wanna read an ebook or browse the internet. I own an 11 in and it just feels right for me. I tried the 12.9 in ipad and i laughed at how ridiculously gigantic it is for a tablet. I think it’s more your ego deciding which one to choose because it makes you feel good owning the more expensive one.
@Tweed Penguin Actually if you look into it, most of them prefer the 11”. Almost every youtuber is saying the 12.9” is too big to be used as a tablet. It’s probably only recently that these youtubers go for the 12.9” because of the new mini-LED display that is exclusive to that size.
The only good thing about 12,9 is that with the keyboard makes the wish of a Mac with a touch screen come true! As a tablet I agree that going out with it I’d look so stupid!
I use my 12.9 iPad at school to take handwritten notes and with the keyboard to write papers. I don’t feel stupid because of its size and in fact I feel bad for the students with the smaller iPads having to zoom in and out of things and having to make their handwriting smaller than it has to be. Also, drawing on the 12.9 is a much better experience than on the 11 inch. On the 11 inch j had to pinch and zoom and scroll around quite a bit. On the 12.9 I do it a lot less. Assuming that people pick 12.9 inch screen due to ego is so stupid. Different people prefer different screen sizes for many different reasons.
Actually if you use the 12.9 for some time, you will get used to it (at least for my personal experience), but I do miss the weight difference, as all the cages and accessories will add up more on 12.9. And I don't need that much screen size, just some simple task, I prefer to work seriously on my mac.
@@lolunderstated533 The 2 inch size difference doesn't really matter, because of the fact that you are able to *zoom in* while drawing! You'll do it either way, regardless of the size.
As a college student (pshychology) with an M1 MBA, I’ve never regret choosing the 11 inch. First of all its cheaper so I could buy a logitech case for the iPad which protects the iPad better than a magic keyboard, and second, I didnt need a bad laptop replacement. The 11 inch is perfect for handwriting notes, perfect for media consumption, and way better in small areas than the 12.9. The split screen is more than enough, considering the fact that you need to zoom on both device if you want to do anything. I just open my mba at home, get into the class with zoom or teams and my iPad is next to it with Notability on the screen. The only area where the 12.9 shines is professional drawing. Thats all. :)
Thank you so much for this. I am a law student and I like typing my notes. I can’t really create aesthetic notes like the rest because of the amount of information that I need to learn. I was torn between 12.9 and 11 because I need the split screen. Even in my home setup, I have a dual monitor setup because I really need 2 screens. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT. Even on my laptop, I zoom in to what I am typing to see better. I think that won’t matter with 11 and 12.9 because I still need to zoom in 😅
Have you ever tried Sidecar? I’m starting a copywriting agency from my studio apartment. Already own a 13” M1 MBP, but would love to use the iPad Pro as second screen. Especially for researching on Safari while typing in Word on my MBP. Due to my 28m2 studio, I love portability: while not working, I can clear my dinner table for guests and store both the MacBook and iPad in my wardrobe closet. I’m just very curious if the 11 inch or 12.9 would best suit my professional and personal interests.
@@HatovimLeTayis yes I have. I use it. The 11" is big enough for me to use it next to my MBA. You need to consider how you wanna use your ipad. if it is only or mostly for work and mostly sits on a table, and you have the money to burn, go for a 12.9. (if you wanna use it for netflix, on the couch etc, then 11. If you can, definitely go to a store and try out both of them.
@@crispybat1 Thanks for the advice! I stumbled upon a great deal, which I couldn’t ignore. I bought the 12.9” M1 Pro 5G cellular - still sealed - for 969 euro. Works so smooth with my 13” MacBook M1 Pro through universal control. And it doesn’t feel heavy in my hands at all. Great quality!
I'd take the 11-inch all day. I took the 12.9 Pro with the Magic Keyboard to Japan, and I found it too big on my long-ass flight, in bed, on subways, and everywhere else. Just got the 11-inch, and I absolutely love how light and portable it is. I can use it anywhere.
I have the 11, and in hindsight I would have chosen the 12.9. I stopped using paper and instead write everything on the iPad now, and I commonly split-screen with a text document on the left and my notes on the right. However, I find that the split-screen space is a bit lacking on the 11 to the point that it annoys me.
I had the old 12.9 and 10.5 devices. At my desk, I (college student) used and preferred the 12.9" screen. If anyone uses split screen for extended periods of time, 12.9 is the way to go. People with 11" say they use split screen just fine, but in my experience, it feels cramped. We can see a lot more while studying with the 12.9. Plus, commuting/walking time is shorter than time spent sitting down at a desk and working.. so the portability issue never existed for me. The newer 12.9 is also smaller than the old 12.9 (1st gen) I had! It's not all that heavy either. I read ebooks (library app) while holding it up as if it were a book. No arm pain. Maybe I'm just too immersed in the story but in any case, I really love the extra screen size. As for 11 vs 12.9 and which is "better" - it really depends on each person's uses & personal preference. Some people prioritize portability above all else. Or they use it more "off the desk" situations. There's no universal "better" size...
@Tweed Penguin Thank you. The Statement which is netter is useless without the Information About the intended use. I just tested both and the 12.9 is amazing. But is just another stationary instument. As soon as the originally intended use, the portability comes into play the 11" is the way to go.
I just bought the 1TB 11 pro. I was originally going to buy the 12.9 with the magic. They were out of stock at the apple store and I decided screw it and bought the 11. I replaced my early 2015 13 inch MacBook Pro and I’m satisfied. I’ve been a long term student and I’ve gotten sick of having multiple notebooks, holding my MacBook, and having a textbook out. I find the iPad OS to be easier/faster for most tasks imo. I typically write papers and do scientific research. Multitasking is still a breeze with multiple windows. The light weight of the smaller form factor means I can just fold it up and go anywhere with the magic keyboard. Could I do the same with the 12.9? Yeah but it’d be like carrying around a laptop again. Plus the reduced price for incredible M1 power and 16gb of RAM… no brainer. Not worth the extra screen space- I’m not an editor or artist. 11 is just fine for movies and videos. It’s scaled anyway and has equal pixel density. Barely notice the lack of an OLED.
I have used the 12.9” iPad Pro ever since the first edition, and have never wanted to change. For small portable hand held iPad I use a Mini. So a combination of those two for me is the best of both worlds.
Note that iPad 12.9 inch is actually just the size of A4 paper, which is the exact same size of a typical paper notebook that you use to write on daily life. It just looks bigger aside of smaller 11 inch.
heyy!! I’m here after 2 years… and I’m planning on buying one. Is it worth to buy? Please do give me your opinion since it’s very important to me and would help me decide wether to go for it or not… I’m still hesitant wether to go for 11inch or 12.9inch. Please let me know your opinion! 😊
I had the same dilemma. A trip to the Apple store with both sizes next to each other and surfing with Safari to the same websites convinced me to get the 12.9”. A user sees more content on the 12.9” when surfing. It is not just the size of the image.
As a photographer, when I show a client a completed project (portraits etc) the images are usually in a gallery. Aside form the bigger viewing area the 12.9 just "feels" and looks more substantial and the screen of the 5th gen 12.9 is just incredible
For me, I chose the 12.9. I got it a few days ago and I am happy as heck. The 11” didn’t make sense to me in person because is almost like having 2 iPhone 13 pros right next to each other….for me, for writing, editing and doing WORK, I didn’t want to feel cramped with work. I don’t plan on using it for entertainment, but specifically for note taking for masters classes and work as a product designer/ project manager. Without a keyboard, as a tablet, I feel way more dedicated and flexible with the ability to work on projects. Storage wise, it fits in every backpack, and weight wise, I will get accustomed to it, I won’t complain about that since most of the time it is on my lap, or on a desk. It was a tough call, but i am very happy with my purchase.
@Roman Goldvarg No, I use a separate laptop simultaneously. The iPad is used for most soft tasks like email and management, while I have dedicated my laptop to hard tasks like utilizing Solidworks, fusion and dedicating it to large projects like essays and multi window arrangements.
I bought both 11 and 12’9 M1 iPad Pro for work (Musician work and mobile presentations). The funny thing is, I like 12’9 much more (better screen, bigger battery and slightly thicker (that’s a plus), but I end up using 11 inch more XD! I mean at work I use them equally (simultaneously), but around the house (media consumption) the 11 inch is such a comfortable fit :)
I'm a musician (violinist and vocalist) as well and I'm gonna go back to college for a degree in musical theatre, but I can't decide between the two. I have a MBP but the screen's messed up, so I have it hooked up to a monitor. So I'm basically looking for a laptop replacement. Could you offer any advice?
@@gavinadams9050 Gavin, the way I see it 12’9 is much better for sheet music. It’s a laptop size beautiful Mini-LED screen. With the added keyboard case it can easily be a laptop replacement (unless you need specific software, which requires better OS than iPadOS). 11 inch iPad Pro works great as a tablet. It’s very comfortable to carry around etc. but imo it’s too small for a laptop replacement.
Great video! I just replaced my macbook 13 and ipad mini with the 11 inch M2 Pro with the magic keyboard. Plug it into an ultrawide monitor, and you won’t even miss the 12.9 since most of the real estate for your work will be supplied by the monitor in a desk setup. Also, when using it as a tablet and not at a desk, the 11 inch is more comfortable to hold.
The iPad is all I use n for the last 5years. Just got a new MI Pro 11" + Pencil and the combo is incredible. I totally don't need a laptop. The ll” is the ideal size for me. The 12.9” is lovely but just too big for portability.
@@zios1525 Well, the WiFi costs less up front and you don’t have to buy a cellular plan to go with it (needed for a cellular connection). So my choice is the WiFi model since I use it in areas where I always have a WiFi connection…plus I have my iPhone 10 which I have set to being linked to my iPad as a connection to 4G. So I really can do a connection from anywhere there is WiFi plus where my phone can get a signal. But if I didn’t already have a phone and cellular plan (via T Mobile) I would love to get into 5G with a new 5G phone plus the cellular iPad. I hope that makes sense.
Same here! The ipad is perfect me as well. Plus the performance and screen graphics are just as good. Magic keyboard and pen brought me out of my air 3 world lol. HELIOS, I have the cell version for a reason. My hope internet is blotchy and its nice to have 5G as a boost to help out during those times.
Most honest, humble, and genuine review I've seen in a very long time. Not sure what it was, but watching your review was so refreshing and more like hearing advice from a buddy in a casual setting. The review wasn't about which tablet was higher spec'd, it was about which one made more sense for your daily use, and there was no hidden agenda. Just an honest, "what's it like for daily use?", review. I own an 11 pro, and have since the first generation, but have been torn on switching to the 12.9. I've watched countless reviews and read more content on the topic than I care to admit. Your review hit home for me and I've decided to upgrade. Very well done, thank you. You have a new subscriber.
As an artist using the 12.9 is very comfortable. What’s so annoying is that I like to work outside like in cafes and stuff. I personally don’t like to carry big bags around so it’s hard to find a comfortable size bag that fits the 12.9. It’s always just an 1" too big for most bags I like. For that reason I kinda wish I got the 11 inch. I already have a big iMac to work on things at home so having the 12.9 iPad feels kinda redundant.
This is exactly what I’m worried about! I have a Mac but I want an Ipad 12.9in for doing school work and making art. My gut says 12.9, but i feel like it would render my Mac useless + the lack of portability. :( the whole reason why i want an ipad is so i can take work with me bc my Mac was too heavy:/ as i said: my gut says 12.9 but im still nervous about the size.
I love the 12.9 and I received credit for old 2016 iPad . The new one is great, i watch RUclips and Netflex and purchased iPad arms to hold display. The bigger screen is brautful. Love it...
Nah, I have had bought and the 11 inch was just so much more portable to take out for meetings etc. The 12.9 inch needed special consideration about how to carry it and to use what bag etc. If you are using it for media consumption sure yeah, but I get the feeling most 12.9s are living at home mostly and you might as well use one of your bigger screens at home for viewing Netflix or RUclips. The 12.9 in is totally awkward to hold in bed while laying down as well.
My new job only offers the Mac in 16” option. I immediately started shopping for an iPad as a pseudo replacement for the MacBook for daily use. I’m leaning towards the 12.9 simply because of the wider keyboard
After considering every iPad as replacement of my 16GB Air 2, I landed the silver 128GB M1 Pro 12.9.” Mark is totally right. It’s awesome and not heavy at all. I also use it a lot paired with my 13” MacBook M1 Pro. With this keyboard and trackpad I can perfectly use my iPad on its own or as secondary screen for my MacBook. The XDR display and stereo speakers with Atmos alone are worth it. Thanks for this great review!
I’ve owned an 11” iPad Pro for over a year now and Im honestly looking forward to getting the 12.9” because I mostly use my iPad to watch RUclips, Netflix, and other content. I also play games but I use a controller so the bigger the iPad the better for me.
I personally own the 11” M1 iPad and couldn’t be happier. I also have the M1 MacBook Pro so I couldn’t justify getting the larger 12.9” iPad as I felt it was too big and too close to basically just being a laptop (without Mac OS, of course). I use the Smart Keyboard Folio with my iPad, and it works great for viewing content, taking notes, responding to emails, and other work-related tasks. I also use Luma Fusion to edit which is an absolute BREEZE on these new M1 iPads.
I have both, but I prefer the 11, it’s much lighter especially when using it in the hand on the couch etc, I find the media use RUclips etc is more than satisfactory with the 11… I find the 12.9 to big, cumbersome and heavy for a iPad….
Get silver for sure! The space grey shade of grey varies from apple product to Apple product, but the silver marches across the board! Also, the white keyboard + silver iPad looks SUUUPER clean! Good luck deciding! I love my silver iPad
@@hhhhhhhhgv I decided to go with Space Grey! I already have a silver M1 MacBook Pro so thought it'd be nice to go with the Space Grey to mix things up :D I love the way it looks!
There is something, none RUclipsr has talked about, and is the aspect ratio. The 12.9 is more closer to the 3:2, and for work, is just better proportion.
It’s personal! I like the 11” more. For me the 12.9” is to heavy and to big. And it’s not true, Apple is not investing more in the iPad 12.9” iPad. For travel the iPad 11” is the best. The 12” is to delicate, because of its size!
I had the 12.9 for awhile. It's an absolute monster to carry around. Even in a bag. With Magic Keyboard it weighs even more than a MacBook Air. I took it on a car trip and even in the passenger seat is was a bit unwieldily and after awhile I had to set it on a stand on the dashboard because my arms fell asleep holding it. I don't think people understand how large of a tablet it is. I'm not being dramatic, I'm just trying to save you the hassle if you think you're going to hold this thing over your face while laying in bed. Maybe you can, idk. But I just recently got the 11" and I like it a whole lot more. It's bigger than the Air and the Mini and it's smaller than a laptop.
I'm one of those guys that uses a Samsung tab S7+, and absolutely love it. I would have considered and iPad, but as a racing/freestyle drone pilot, none of the apps I need are supported by iOS/iPadOS/MacOS. Betaflight Configurator, BLHeli Suite, DigiView, all android only apps. So with Apple I can't setup my quads out in the field, nor share my experience with other pilots and onlookers. When Apple starts supporting what I need, I might consider one down the road.
Why do you think they found necessity to have an bigger iPad than 11"? For me, i choose 12.9" because you really want that paper size everytime. you don't need to zoom in/out. It is more suitable for pencil use than media or anyother usage.
yesh got 12.9 m1 get it if u can , but yeah no one tell you that it gets warm on screen area opp to apple pencil dock the moment u turn on safari , RUclips all will warm to heat up and. but yeah it works great when is does
IMO 12.9 isn't really big enough to make a difference if your primary usage isn't media consumption. Sure you can see more, but it's the difference between having or not having the margin of a piece of paper. Multitasking wise, to me it's mostly for reading message only, so I can accept the compromise, and I think that's how people would use it most of the time anyway, especially after iPadOS 15 come out. And the weight of the 12.9 is really killing its capability of being used in the field (with both increasing in weight and size, it could feel twice as heavy), while 11 inch is capable of being used one handed with folio in short term and rather extended without folio. And my hope? It would be great if we get 3x or even 4x resolution instead of 2x on iPad Pro. 264ppi is actually quite low for displaying text or technical drawings. It's kinda frustrating that you get such a large display (relative to a typical cellphone), only to have to zoom in much more to read the fine text or tell crowded lines apart. I guess it's a little bit niche but PDF reading is probably one of the most important usage of a tablet in work, and DWG viewing could be the next (and even more useful because large format printing is expensive).
@@islacloudy if you see it in isolation, of course the larger the better most of the time. But realistically, if you have to carry it on one hand all the time you would have to think again whether the larger size makes enough differences, since the larger one feels much heavier when carrying in one hand. To me, it doesn't. Anyway, if there's chance you should always try them in store, as different people have different needs.
any issues with portability and taking it daily to classes and library?? I am really confused between 11 and 12.9 and I am also a med student and mostly gonna use it for making notes and watching videos.
I’ve had both sizes and when I had the 12.9 I almost never took it off the magic keyboard stand. With the 11 I always bring it with me on the couch and it’s way easier to type on it (like a huge iPhone). The 12.9 screen is nice NGL but I love the portability, typing on it, and it’s still a nice screen even though it’s not XDR. Plus saving 300 bucks is the cherry on the top. Everybody has their own use cases though

Well it just depends what you personally prefer. I have the 12.9 inch and I’m enjoying using it over my previous 11". It’s better all round in my opinion, apart from the noticeable weight difference. If you are carrying an iPad with you all day I’m sure the 11" would be a better option. If I need something super light and portable maybe the next gen iPad mini might be worth considering.
I have a windows desktop for gaming and engineering usage cases, macbook pro 14 inch for every day use, editing photos and videos, ill buy the 11 inch ipad for drawing and note taking and can use it as an extra screen to my mbp 14
Can you still do remote work, and word processing like and everyday office functions on cheaper budget models? Is there a reason someone has to get more expensive models over cheaper stuff if they don't care about screen size and aren't using it for entertainment? I don't have a thousand dollars to waste and I've not really used these before.
Thanks for your review. I have a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” and I will keep it. I use their Folio case. I ordered the 2024 11” iPad Pro with 512 GB. I’m thinking about taking it back after I receive it and ordering the 12.9”. I didn’t order it because it was $300 more. I want the 12.9” one so I can see it better. I can afford it but was just being cheap. If I buy the new pencil it will be just for taking notes.
I have the 12.9 and the iPad mini 6, it’s the perfect duo in my opinion. I use the 12.9 with the Smart Keyboard bc I like being able to move the Smart Keyboard around, the Magic Keyboard is confined to motion movement. 12.9 iPad is perfect for simple computer stuff and designs, and watching movies and gaming stuff on big screen. I like the bigger screen for that. Now if I need portability and simple stuff but still want to get some stuff done I take my iPad mini everywhere for that reason and it’s easy. Sometimes I have both. They really complement each other

To be honest, I’d have gotten the 12.9” but I never like buying gen 1 hardware with that mini led screen and it was a $300 jump. Lame. Loving my 11” cause I don’t do split screen or draw.
i was debating on which size so bought both sizes to test which i prefer while also owning a 16inch macbook pro. and after using both size ipads returned the 12.9. while the bigger screen was nice it was just expensive for the use i got out of it. since i own a 16inch macbook when i was at home i hardly ever used either of the ipads. and add in the magic keyboard for the 12.9 inch thats $1500 that i would be spending for 90% of the time just having it plugged in and closed next to my macbook. so ended up returning the 12.9 and spending $900 for the 11inch ipad with some generic folio from amazon that could position the ipad vertically and horizontally and called it a day. while i still won't be using the 11inch ipad that much at least i could justify the $900 pricetag somewhat for the occasions i needed it to read comics or to use on trips instead of taking the bulky macbook.
I’ve been using the iPad Pro 11in for a while now but I do a lot of video editing and artwork design for my music. I’ve been wanting to take the dive into the 12.9 for this very reason as I think the size would be more ideal for video editing.
I BROUGHT THA IPAD 11 PRO AND DIDNT LIKE IT SO THA NEXT DAY I TOOK IT BACK TO THA APPLE STORE AND BROUGHT THA 12.9 ONE PLUS THA WHITE KEY BOARD,UR RIGHT THA 12.9 FEELS BETTER AND VERY EXPENSIVE,IM HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE
Very helpful video. Personally, I want an iMac for my home computer, a MacBook for my church ministry and counseling practice (set up as workstation), and an iPad (which can also connect to the work station) for my primary "run around" and casual device. For the ipad, I actually like the new case (with kick stand) better than the Magic keyboard. Hope they will eventually offer this for iPad Air and pro. Thanks for your review. Very helpful.
I love my new iPad 12.9. I play a lot of video games my iPad 2018 kept shutting the games down mid play So I opt too buy iPad Pro 12inch 2021 model. I also have more space on my iPad Pro 12 64 on the 2018 model.
I was so confused about 12.9. You cleared me and made me buy 12.9 😛. I basically want it for notes,Netflix, RUclips, online classes and some games 😋. Thanks
How your 12.9 ipad, is it good size for playing games? I got 11” for games + YT, movies, reading, I feel 11” good choice, but sometime i really wish i had 12.9 xD
@@DIVERGENTSMC me also think that I could get me 12.9 in some purposes like bigger page for notes and multitasking. But i had to carry it. So 11 is good.
@@astrokid9636 Yeah I really love my 11” so easy to hold it while playing games and watching video. 12.9 too big and heavy, I think 11” was right choice for tablet, because anyway 12.9 can’t replace laptop. Now I thinking about to get 14” MacBook Pro for working, It will be much better than just 12.9 iPad.
I think after buying my Asus G14, and coming from a 17” laptop previously, I’ve learned that size really is not important when it comes to usability, obviously there are a lot of variables depending on the person, but for me, the fact that I only need one small bag to carry all my gear around is far more important than having a bit more screen realestate
@@rixtonrix3296 It is. I have never used an iPad in an outstretched arm, and not resting on anything, so the weight difference makes no difference to me. Took a few days to get used to it but I love the bigger form factor. Still portable, despite many people making it sound like you need a fork-lift to take it anywhere. Very pleased
I have the 2018 Pro with magic keyboard. It's nice an all. I bought it before I bought my MBP 16 2019 but I'm contemplating on selling it and getting the new 11" with keyboard. Just want something smaller to have in bed to consume content and bigger than the 13 Pro Max and also easier to hold and type on the screen itself than the keyboard. Just haven't made up my mind. I almost even contemplated on getting the Mini but ehh...
I do digital art and want it for gaming. I’ve been wanting the iPad Pro since it came out but I don’t know which size to choose. I’m afraid the 12.9 will be too big when I game. I really don’t mind if it’s big for binge watching. I actually think it’s ok, just that I fear I won’t be able to grip the iPad well or that it’ll hurt my hands. The 11 sound all around a good option, it’s just the drawing option that I don’t know if it’ll be enough.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. i almost bought the new Air M1.. but canceled it to buy the 12.9 pro.. only thing i'm thinking about is should i wait for the M2 or just get 2021 model.. i tend to do several years with a tablet..

The screen is nice on the 12.9" but its not worth the extra money. I bought the 2021 iPad 11 Pro (Space Gray) with the M1 chip, 256gb storage and 8gb of RAM ....so I'm future proofed for awhile and it's more portable for sure........oh and you'll love the 120hz refresh rate as well! Last month I was deciding whether to upgrade from my iPad Air 3 to the new Air 5, I ended up keeping the Air 3 and buying the 12.9 M1. So far I’m happy with the 12.9 and feel fortunate to own all 3 iPad sizes including the Mini 6 but if I could only own one I would go for a standard size iPad because it offers the best balance of screen size and portability, I’m really enjoying my new 12.9 though
I'm a professional singer. Several times, on a singer or voice teacher list, someone asks what to look for in a tablet. Every single time, it is hands down iPad 12.9. There is an app that not only displays music, but can play at least the piano score. (Singers, don't rely on that feature. It'll turn you into a robot. ) It is basically the size of a score. Most online music rep. stores let you download the sheet music. I'm probably choosing 12.9, too, for Guitar Tabs. I'm always having to stop and pick up my tablet to read those tiny, not black, chords.
I am getting the 11’ because i have a macbook pro i need a ipad for simpler tasks and i am more of a small screen person and with college carrying 2 macbooks is a big problem
taking notes 12.9, reading 11 because you want to hold it in your hands and the 12.9 is not comfortable to hold for longer periods even if you are a big guy :>
I see buying the 11inch a waste of money as it feels like a normal ipad. If your going to spend that much you might as well go for something more noticeable that values its pricw
This comment helped me more than the video itself. Thanks.

@Tweed Penguin ???? It depends on your use case.
i chose the 11" mainly because i bring it everywhere, and this size fits nicely into most of my bags.

You can reduce the virtual keyboard
I think that won’t matter with 11 and 12.9 because I still need to zoom in 😅
@@aubreybondoc exactly. I hope you’ll enjoy it, it was my best purchase ever.
However, I find that the split-screen space is a bit lacking on the 11 to the point that it annoys me.
same. good thing i returned my ipad 11 for the 12.9
I had the old 12.9 and 10.5 devices.
There's no universal "better" size...
alright im going for the 12.9", thas all that needed to hear lmao thanks
@Tweed Penguin Thank you. The Statement which is netter is useless without the Information About the intended use. I just tested both and the 12.9 is amazing. But is just another stationary instument. As soon as the originally intended use, the portability comes into play the 11" is the way to go.
Mr. J hey am going to start uni so am guessing you would advise me to go with the 12.9 because of the split screen space advantage
Oh, you gonna love the new Mini - if the rumors about the redesign are true!
Exactly same,, 12.9 + mini 5 and I am supper happy.
Note that iPad 12.9 inch is actually just the size of A4 paper, which is the exact same size of a typical paper notebook that you use to write on daily life. It just looks bigger aside of smaller 11 inch.

My mate and I took out our 12.9 inch iPads at home affairs South Africa. That was a fricken experience.

As an artist using the 12.9 is very comfortable. What’s so annoying is that I like to work outside like in cafes and stuff.
I use my M1 11 as a laptop replacement and it does EVERYTHING I need it to…and way more! I did purchase the 12.9 first but returned it
I’ve owned an 11” iPad Pro for over a year now and Im honestly looking forward to getting the 12.9” because I mostly use my iPad to watch RUclips, Netflix, and other content. I also play games but I use a controller so the bigger the iPad the better for me.
It’s better for everyone, just expensive
So how's your experience which one do you like more
I personally own the 11” M1 iPad and couldn’t be happier.

Yah many people are bullshiting about 12.9 in RUclips
Yeah imagine living your life without his approval.
This is so funny because I laugh at my friend for carrying hers around, heavy.
And I just upgraded to the 12.9 myself😂 lol I’m no better lol
It’s light work for me. It mostly depends on the case you’re using. I use the Zugu alpha case for mine and it’s not heavy at all.
Absolutely stunning and perfectly displayed; this man’s hair is next level.
Why do you think they found necessity to have an bigger iPad than 11"?
For me, i choose 12.9" because you really want that paper size everytime. you don't need to zoom in/out. It is more suitable for pencil use than media or anyother usage.
yesh got 12.9 m1 get it if u can , but yeah no one tell you that it gets warm on screen area opp to apple pencil dock the moment u turn on safari , RUclips all will warm to heat up and. but yeah it works great when is does
Is it overheating or any issues regarding that ..... Or is it normal?
I guess it's a little bit niche but PDF reading is probably one of the most important usage of a tablet in work, and DWG viewing could be the next (and even more useful because large format printing is expensive).
for reading for example which is better?
@@islacloudy if you see it in isolation, of course the larger the better most of the time. But realistically, if you have to carry it on one hand all the time you would have to think again whether the larger size makes enough differences, since the larger one feels much heavier when carrying in one hand. To me, it doesn't.
Anyway, if there's chance you should always try them in store, as different people have different needs.

As a med student i use ipad 12,9 with the magic keyboard and Apple Pencil and i LOVE IT
Answer I’m looking for
any issues with portability and taking it daily to classes and library?? I am really confused between 11 and 12.9 and I am also a med student and mostly gonna use it for making notes and watching videos.
I’ve had both sizes and when I had the 12.9 I almost never took it off the magic keyboard stand. With the 11 I always bring it with me on the couch and it’s way easier to type on it (like a huge iPhone). The 12.9 screen is nice NGL but I love the portability, typing on it, and it’s still a nice screen even though it’s not XDR. Plus saving 300 bucks is the cherry on the top. Everybody has their own use cases though
Yeah, and the money saved can go towards a true movie watching machine, such as a TV.
I’ve had the 12.9 inch for 3 years and I’m thinking about switching to the 11" for better probability
heyy!! I’m here after 2 years… and I’m planning on buying one. Is it worth to buy? Please do give me your opinion since it’s very important to me and would help me decide wether to go for it or not… I’m still hesitant wether to go for 11inch or 12.9inch. Please let me know your opinion! 😊

I saw a video comparing the 11” to the 12.9” and one of the cons where that the battery for 12.9 doesn’t last as long because of the bigger screen.
Which one would be a better choice for note taking and student stuff?
I can buy an used air5 for $360 and 12.9 m1 pro for $620.
Check the prices on apple certified refurbished first then decide
The bigger one. That is the actual answer despite some may disagree.
I got the 11 and 12.9 2018 Pro models and they suit different circumstances. I have the mini for taking out of the house. I like using all of them.
I’ve been using the iPad Pro 11in for a while now but I do a lot of video editing and artwork design for my music. I’ve been wanting to take the dive into the 12.9 for this very reason as I think the size would be more ideal for video editing.
Just get a macbook and use the iPad in sidecar mode with it
I BROUGHT THA IPAD 11 PRO AND DIDNT LIKE IT SO THA NEXT DAY I TOOK IT BACK TO THA APPLE STORE AND BROUGHT THA 12.9 ONE PLUS THA WHITE KEY BOARD,UR RIGHT THA 12.9 FEELS BETTER AND VERY EXPENSIVE,IM HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE
I like the 12.9 with the Magic Keyboard. Roughly the size of an 8.5x11 spiral notebook. Feels natural to carry.
Same.
Just make sure to add a case. iPads are still prone to bending sadly.
@@vcat724 That’s way I’m so glad they increased the thickness of 12’9 this year.
The answer to the question begins at 2:04. You’re welcome.
Okay 12.9 wins, No shut up Mark I am getting the 11 inch (literally man) because all I need is the M1, amazing video by the way Cheers!
there’s always the 2 week return lol
“ no shut up mark “ ☠️
I love my new iPad 12.9.
I play a lot of video games my iPad 2018 kept shutting the games down mid play
So I opt too buy iPad Pro 12inch 2021 model. I also have more space on my iPad Pro 12 64 on the 2018 model.
Which would you Recommend for An Artist, Using The App Procreat, For an iPad ?.....
12.9"
Great video. You didn’t mention that the 12.9 has the better screen, with the mini led technology. Another reason to get the bigger iPad.
Nice video BTW which camera and lens you use?
R5 + 28-70 f2
Hey Mark!
What's the jacket youre wearing!? It looks really nice! Would love to cop!
I was so confused about 12.9. You cleared me and made me buy 12.9 😛.
I basically want it for notes,Netflix, RUclips, online classes and some games 😋. Thanks
So how’s the 12.9 inch ipad?
So how's your experience dear with 12.9 do u regret pr love tour choice?
I just bought an iPad Pro 12.9 and I love it. Do you recommend a screen protector? Does it help with eye strain?
Man, I love your jacket, what the brand?
It's an older one from Cos, appreciate it!
Or get a bigger bag...12.9 is only 2inches larger diagonally
Went from 10.5” pro to 12.9” M1 silver. Love it.
So is it comfortable , and do you really have any issues with that sized ?
@@rixtonrix3296 It is. I have never used an iPad in an outstretched arm, and not resting on anything, so the weight difference makes no difference to me. Took a few days to get used to it but I love the bigger form factor. Still portable, despite many people making it sound like you need a fork-lift to take it anywhere. Very pleased
@@stuartaparker Lol 😂. thank you for feedback 🤝
Okay, I am going to be selling my 12.9 I want the 11. I just made my mind up lol
Is the Magic Keyboard worth it for iPad 12.9 if you already have a MacBook?
I do digital art and want it for gaming. I’ve been wanting the iPad Pro since it came out but I don’t know which size to choose. I’m afraid the 12.9 will be too big when I game. I really don’t mind if it’s big for binge watching. I actually think it’s ok, just that I fear I won’t be able to grip the iPad well or that it’ll hurt my hands. The 11 sound all around a good option, it’s just the drawing option that I don’t know if it’ll be enough.
Dude same, I can afford a ipad but dont know between 12.9 or 11 i personally want it for gaming, school and watching vids/movies and also reading books
which size did u end up choosing? i have the same problem😢
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. i almost bought the new Air M1.. but canceled it to buy the 12.9 pro.. only thing i'm thinking about is should i wait for the M2 or just get 2021 model.. i tend to do several years with a tablet..
Which one you choose then ?
@@imhereforagoodtimenotalongtime i opted not to buy the new Air M1. but wait until this fall to buy the new ipad pro 12.9 pro when it comes out. Expected to have the new M2. it is not that i need that much power. but i don't feel comfortable buying a almost 2yr old ipad pro for the same price as a new model that will come out late this year. And i can wait
Is the iPad the coffee table computer?
The screen is nice on the 12.9" but its not worth the extra money. I bought the 2021 iPad 11 Pro (Space Gray) with the M1 chip, 256gb storage and 8gb of RAM ....so I'm future proofed for awhile and it's more portable for sure........oh and you'll love the 120hz refresh rate as well! Whatever you do, don't skimp on storage, the 128gb storage fills up quick if you work on it, play games and watch movies. Get the 256gb or more storage!
Dude - I'm noticing that you may have a possible nodule on the left side of your neck - para-thyroid perhaps. I know it's a couple years later from the publication date - it "could" be the lighting and all, but worth checking out, nonetheless . . . thanks for the video . . .
As someone who uses the ipad as a laptop replacement, i really like how the larger one feels. Plus the storage options are tits.
The storage is not a problem.
You can have any storage up to 1 tera with the 11 also
@@rixtonrix3296 yeah once you break the bank
The 12.9 is the winner for me the Xdr display looks like Oled compared to LCD and after owning the 12.9 for a while it feels smaller than it looks
Brother, I want to buy your I-pad pro 12.9. How much. I am from Bangladesh.
Still deciding if I should ask my mom to get me an 11 inch or 12.9 inch
My main reason for going with the 12.9 is for forScore. Can’t beat it for reading music!

It'll turn you into a robot. )
It is basically the size of a score. Most online music rep. stores let you download the sheet music.
I'm probably choosing 12.9, too, for Guitar Tabs. I'm always having to stop and pick up my tablet to read those tiny, not black, chords.
So, any comment about your experience?
you didnt really mentioned the M1 vs M2 chips
First sentence that mentions the difference between the two iPads comes at the 2.44 mark (screen size)
I am getting the 11’ because i have a macbook pro i need a ipad for simpler tasks and i am more of a small screen person and with college carrying 2 macbooks is a big problem
What would you recommend for taking notes and reading pdf books?
taking notes 12.9, reading 11 because you want to hold it in your hands and the 12.9 is not comfortable to hold for longer periods even if you are a big guy :>
Me watching this after I already picked the 12.9 inch IPad Pro just based on size. Nice video, man.
Mee
I see buying the 11inch a waste of money as it feels like a normal ipad. If your going to spend that much you might as well go for something more noticeable that values its pricw
yo dude your audio is crisp! What mic did you use to shoot this video?
the 13 inch M1 wasnt available anywhere and M2 is just too expensive. i bought the 11 inch pro and its great
Owning a laptop and an iPad I prefer the 11” one cus it’s way better considering I already have a laptop.
Thanks you convinced me to purchase the all new 12.9 IPad Pro when it is released in May!
I use what tool right for the job, my Samsung S20 ultra still kickin, love my iPad Pro 11 2021 and my ASUS Windows laptop, all have returned my ROI
