Terrific. Gives his band space. A mster.
Someone else told me the same thing. He said that the live shows in the Stones' Mick Taylor era, with the guitar tandem of Mick T and Keith, were some of the best performances in R&R history.
Amen brother! You have said it exactly as it is/was.
42 years ago he played it the 1.time.And also great!
Personally ...ive always loved his work
I was there all for all show's first time I ever seen this great man...... Thank you for sharing these video's..............
Great. That music-history life. He plays the solo of his life again.
Haven a few glasses of jamesons whisky and yeah he still got it, thank you so much for putting this up,god bless thee!
Great tone mick. the stones don't know what they're missing
i think wow a very amazing guitarist he is one of my influences playing my LES PAUL AND SG I HOPE TO SEE HIM LIVE HE SHOULD GET BACK WITH THE ROLLING STONES LONG LIVE MICK TAYLOR
*Great Gig, Sublime performance-Happy 66th Birthday, Mick Taylor!*
Awesome!
Beautiful
Fantastic
Love it
Very nice! Thanks for this and the others.
just think of all the great music we lost from the stones when MT left, and all he really wanted was some recognition for his contributions. the Stones were the greatest rock n roll band in the world when MT was in it. after that they became a greatest hits review band. Keith was always jealous of Mick. because allthough hes a great riff writer he couldnt hold MT's Jock when it came to playing. he was and still is a great musician. the Stones lost their soul the day he left
This is mostly nonsense. Keith is not jealous of Mick - they have a good relationship to this day. And I really don't regard either as the better guitarist. Keith couldn't hold a candle to Mick on lead, who was far better. But look at this video: Mick can't play that opening riff of the instrumental break properly. He doesn't get the feel or the style right.
That is what made them so perfect together: Mick was brilliant at the things Keith was not, and vice versa.
This was from the 8 PM show, I dont record the entire gig, just some of it.
Taylor also said recently that the main reason that he left the Stones was due to health reasons - he was worried that he was getting hooked on heroin and that he might die from a heroin overdose.
The Stone's riffs weren't quite as catchy after Taylor left the band. Coincidence? I think not.
Just for the MICK T critics here, I got to hug the man and he is not fat at all. He wears his clothes baggy and his hair is shaggy because he is shy. He's not skinny or flamboyant like Ronnie Wood but he sure as hell isnt fat and yes maybe he needs a haircut but it isnt a combover and the man can still play the guitar! So STFU with the negative criticism, MICK T rocks
Good for you!!! Thanks for speaking up!!
Bueno....Mick Taylor es genial en la guitarra....
Yeah!
Goooo Miiicckk!
soporific
Thanks for capturing this awesome solo -- from the 8pm show?
Yes -- the 8pm show -- I was there sitting next to Bobby Keys and his band The Suffering Bastards -- it was a great show , Mick was ta the top of his game.
clap..clap..clap..clap..clap.
Very nice, as are the Ron Wood vids. Any chance that the complete shows will appear?
1959 and it's real!
....give a sh1t if he's fat or rake thin ! Still got the chops man ! (no jokes about the food type of chop).....
Written by Keith, PLAYED BY MICK.
This man carried the Stones from 1969-1974. They couldn't play for shit live. Timing was horrible, out of tune and Keith is no lead player. Mick Taylor got them into shape and carried them and made them a band worth seeing live and made them a band that could compete with any band at the time. He was and still is a brilliant guitarist. He hasn't lost it, infact hes gotten better. Hes clean, losing weight, and touring constantly. Hes done more in one day than most of us will do in a lifetime.
whats up the lyrics ? there are none in the original at that point in the song
*with the lyrics
From what I read and what someone mentioned on here, Mick Taylor quit because he was getting more and more into drugs. I read that when he joined the Stones he was a non-smoking vegetarian but by the time he quit he not only was he smoking but he had a hole in his nose from snorting so much cocaine.
4:39 omg
why did he leave the stones?????????????????
Things had to be bad at the time to get sacked by Keith and Mick for Drug use. Im so glad he survived and is back playing some with the stones. I saw them with Ronnie but really wished I could've seen them with Mick
Mick Taylor was not sacked. He quit the Stones. Brian was sacked.
Hahaha! Getting Sacked?? MT walked away from Stones. He announced his departure at a party.
He wasn't fired, he quit.
HE WAS NOT FIRED DO YOUR HOMEWORK. HE NEEDED A BREAK AND JAGGER BEGGED HIM TO COME BACK IN 6 MOS. HE REFUSED AND OFTEN WISHES HE COULD TAKE THAT BACK BUT HE WAS NEVER EVER FIRED. ONE DAY IN 1974 HE JUST GOT UP AND WALKED AWAY, TELLING THEM HE WAS LEAVING. AND THERE WERE GOOD REASONS. READ UP
Precisely.
I read somewhere (maybe it was keiths book circa the 80's?) he wasn't cutting it in the studio if he showed up at all and that live performances weren't possible to wasted. True? Don't know.....
Got any personal knowledge?
Good Lord, you're talking about Richards, right? It was Keith who wasn't cutting it in the studio around the time of Sticky Fingers. He was too hooked on the H. His latest book, Life, details that. All of Taylor's work in the studio was heavily monitored by Richards so that it didn't come across as if he out-performed him. Sometimes you can barely hear Taylor's solo in the mix! Their live work prior to 74 with MT was where he really shined through, though. Taylor certainly had a worsening drug problem and that didn't fully recover until much after he quit the Stones. In fact, much of Sticky was a Taylor thing. It is a well known fact that Brown Sugar's infamous riff wasn't even Richard's work - that was entirely Mick Jagger's! There are many points I can bring up, but the only thing they have in common is that the band only grew into itself when Taylor was on board. There's no use speculating what they could've been with other players, or if Brian never left. We got their most brilliant musicianship during the Taylor era. Don't get me started on Ronnie. Wood.
he was the best rolling stones before performer, but he need more rock and rolla, as argerntinian people say rollinga mode
And why did the Stones choose him out from so much greats of this time??Hmmm????
That sounds like Brian.
the sax player ain't fat either, his glasses are small
more showman
I've got to say that this guy was one of my meantors on guitar and to hear him play today is quite a let down, hasn't got it anymore. What's with the "Fat Ass Brigade". I mean the three front guys are all OBESE! How would you like to see those three mud wrestle...NAKED! Scary nitemarish thought indeed.
"The Crusher" worlds greatest wrestler.
No normal person would even have the thoughts you’ve shared here and you’re mentioning their weight! Hahaha
Is it just me or does MT have a little Brian Jones thing going here with the hair-do? The guitar playing is strictly MT though. Not that Brian Jones was any slouch though. Brian could make beautiful sounds out of a blade of grass if he cared to.
Spot on
Mick Taylor is such a better guitarist than Ron Wood...Ron is the world's LUCKIEST guitarist...he's sloppy and his tones suck...go find a version of "Love In Vain" from the Stones 1972 tour and listen to the brilliant, masterful guitar playing of Mick Taylor
Whats wrong with sloppy? Joe Perry is sloppy.
u sure about that singing voice? Sucks. Ronnie is way nastier on guitar anyway.
I'd like to know what, exactly, you were smoking 7 years ago. Though I obviously wouldnt ask for any if that's the lens you see it all through. Ronnie Wood? Marvelous painter. A guitarist to be mentioned alongside Mr. Taylor and the like? A resounding no. He was with The Faces, as a point many have exhausted, quite adequate, but seems only to be nothing more than a funhouse mirror to Keith in the Stones - looking strange and sounding stranger still. Someone's never heard Brussels Affair, Empire Pool, Texas, Perth, etc. etc. There's your nastiness. Name me one instance where Ronnie played anything outside of that word's true meaning. I guess I'll have to respect your opinion but it should be noted that it's so uncommon a curio shop would have to place a special order.
I never heard such a boring sound....they just lack any sort of drive..
