I'm just getting blown away by these Minis. I worked in computer in my career and we always had rooms full of equipment. Years ago when they moved the footprint to desktops that was huge. Now it's really small. I got a mini for my wife and when I connect it the cables are heavier than the computer. I still use a desktop but I am considering one of these to replace it.
I'm excited. The 15th gen CPU will soon come out and the power consumption will the same good as apple. The size will be smaller and no longer need metal case to distribute heat.
The EliteDesk 800 G3 is available with both 6th and 7th generation processors. I recently (December, 2022) bought a G3 with an i7-6700T (35w) processor in it. The top of the unit was not perforated like the unit in the video. Also, there was a "bump" on the rear containing the Wi-Fi antennas. There were no antenna connections or antennas on the rear. Lastly, mine came with a third Displayport port added in the expansion space on the rear.
Most of these machines that you find on eBay do not have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Ones with large external antennas like in the video are extra rare. The ones with WiFi and Bluetooth usually have the bump in the back by the display ports. And another antenna is in the front under the speaker. If you want to add Wi-Fi to one that didn't come with antennas of any kind. Try to find a kit with large rear antennas because there's no mounting holes for the front antenna on units that never came with WiFi.
Not Required, HP sells it as an add-on. It will help with signal strength, but wifi card should be sufficient, make sure you route the cables to the designated area in the back.

I hate mine, and I don't see anyone talking about this issue, and I've had to use one at work for about a year now. The fan is very loud and runs pretty constantly and pretty hard. Because the grid for the fan is facing up it collects dust constantly and is hard to keep clean enough. Also there is almost no airflow on the bottom because the most surface area is nearly flush against a surface. So unless you can rig it up for better airflow, it's gonna be loud.
Have you considered changing the fan? This isn't an issue I have faced nor heard about, this form is used at my place of work and one of the reasons I was encouraged to buy it.
Yes, the 65W models have a more powerful and therefore louder fan than the 35W models and there is also two of them (extra for for the nvme drive) compared to only one on the 35W models. All of that adds to the noise. I have both several 65w models and one 35W model. I can say that the 35W models are very bearable while the noise that the 65W models make is quite annoying especially in a quiet environment.

I've had a similar issue with regards to the resolution on a monitor. A few things to cover are: Check if the settings allow for a resolution bump up. usually, this option is available under "display" settings on windows. High-quality HDMI cable. Thank you, very informative!
I bought one online and I do not think I bought a ssd drive with it. Can I purchase one and install it to this at any time?
You certainly can, these models don't come with SSD from manufacturer, but swapping an HDD with SSD is one of the easiest upgrades a one can do at home.
under mechanical HDD support frame, you insert a green strip "naked" SSD to the black socket. It is a PCI (parallel) path, so dramatically faster than a serial-connected (S-ATA) legacy SSD in the metal HHD cage. Communication protocol "nVMe" is very-much-more efficient than AHCI
can this output 4k 60 and play 4k 60 vide3o on you tube ?, please reply bro
It can if you tweak the settings, but it won't sustain it.
Hello. Thanks for your review. Can you please tell me which power supply it uses? Does it run on 12 or 18 V?
I use it on 12v.
I bought a car cigarette lighter charger to my old hp laptop. The laptop is broken but i use the charger (65w) constantly with this pc not the normal voltage (230v in Europe) socket. Work fine.
From mini solar system. I can edit 4k videos like this but the fan is noisy in this case of course.
Can you install Hard drive and SSD both on this device?
Yes, but not at the same time. It supports NVME M.2, along with SSD/Hard drives.
the bare, green strip SSD is held with one screw, under the 3TB "spinner" in metal support cage, >yes

Does anyone happen to know if these support a 2560x1080 ultrawide resolution..?
Yes, it can support all the way yo to 3840x2160.
This version is now outdated. You might want to consider the new version that came a few years later. it's not the latest, but it's far better than the one on this video.
Its 250 USD and offers far better value.

@@RandomTeq Thanks man, I really appreciate your answer. I do already have an 800 G3, and was thinking of getting a 21x9 monitor. The thing is, when I plug it in to my HD monitor, the highest resolution it offers is 1920x1080, but when I plug it into my 4k projector, it now offers up to 3840x2160, as you mention - but no sign of any 21x9 ratios offered. So, to be sure, does this mean that if I plug it into an ultrawide monitor it will then offer a 21x9 ratio like 2560x1080, or 3440x1440? Cheers.
I've had a similar issue with regards to the resolution on a monitor. A few things to cover are:
Check if the settings allow for a resolution bump up. usually, this option is available under "display" settings on windows.
High-quality HDMI cable.
Avoid any nonesimatrical cable (DP to HDMI, for example) and stick to HDMI to HDMI or DP to DP.
switch between different ports on both PC and monitor.
@@RandomTeq Once again, thanks so much for getting back to me on this one, I genuinely appreciate your help. I'll follow your advice and see how it looks. It's a great little PC, and I enjoyed your video: It was only after I bought this HP on eBay a few months back that I realised there was such a big community of admirers of this little thing - it sure beats the little Minix mini PC that I bought it to replace!
Pleasure, I have a video coming next about a Mini PC from AliExpress that will probably be very affordable and super powerful!
i7 7700 is the best cpu you can use in this machine. Compatible with 6000 and 7000 series only.
This is the highest performance CPU on this model (Kaby Lake Family) i7-7700.
How do I plug this thing in :(
You will need a display port to HDMI connector.
Is there is any tracker inside it if someone stollen it
I believe that there's a software supported by windows for this type of function. Don't take my word for it, do your research.

Will an elitedesk 800 g3 mini 65w machine be compatible with an intel i7 8700 processor? I realize that this processor is an 8th generation introduced to the 800 g4 mini but was hoping it would be backwards compatible to the g3 mini. Can you help please?
Hi John, it's not compatible, 7700 is the highest possible CPU configuration.
I had a i7 9700 & i7 8700 in hand, so I tested both, nether one worked despite having the same intel socket (LGA1151).
@@RandomTeq Many thanks for your swift response. Will stick to the 7700 then. Thanks again.
this "Gen 3" of hp "mini" has model Q270 chipset soldered, and Intel says it's too old for 8100-8800 project "CoffeeLake" CPU, sorry. Get g4 with Q370 soldered chipset mobo
Does anyone know of its possible to install a i7-8700T instead of the 7700T CPU?
The CPU is upgradable, however I can't confirm if the one you suggested will be compatible with this unit. Mine is running I7 7700T.
Dose it work?
Thank u lots sir
Does the PC have onboard bluetooth and wlan?
Yes it does have it, Wifi AC and BT 4.2.
Anyone know what the noise level is like under load?.
For my unit, as you would expect from a normal desktop (slightly less noise since the fan is also small).
Nothing about the M2 slots!
1 M.2 slot, standard, there's another one used for wifi card buried underneath the heatsink and not visible upon opening.

Supporting 3200mhz ram doesn't mean it runs at 3200mhz. It only runs at 2400mhz, educate yourself.
Correct. The i7-7700 (the top performing processor for this PC) is maxed out at 2400 MHz RAM speed anyway.
