He has his fake one where he releases it by calling it the wrong name "Fujikujyaku" where it is basically just a kinda lame scary looking fan sword. But it has a true form "Ruri'irokujaku" that is much more powerful. He basically hides it so people from his squad don't judge him because it has magical abilities that are looked down upon.

Everything he does serves principles Seireitei established thousands of years ago, just like other captains. With the exception being that he doesn't let moral beliefs and emotions stand on the way of fulfilling his duty.
His methods are always radical and make him look like a villain but they all serve the goal of keeping the balance in the world, as well as scientific progress.
He'd fit right in if original Gotei 13 was still around.
So, calling him evil would also mean the entire Seireitei is fundamentally evil as well.

Ironically Mayuri seems to be the only person who takes his position in the Gotei 13 seriously, to the point where he was the only one to call out Yamamoto on his shit for not dealing with Yhwa properly when he had the chance. Say what you want about Mayuri, but he picks up everyone else's slack and gets shit done.
Something underrated I love at the start is yumichika. In most situations he calls out his shikai with its false name (Fuji Kujaku) to hide its kido nature from squad 11.
He’ll hide it even if it means he’ll lose and possibly die. But here, as soon as ikkaku goes down he started to call it by its actual name (Ruri'iro Kujaku) because he cares for Ikkaku and realises the false name won’t be strong enough
Even in the last episode, when him and ikkaku started fighting Zombie Bambi, the first thing he did was use kido, something he would not do in the last series due the stigma of kido in squad 11.
Such subtle but nice character development.
I forgot the story of yumichika. Why does he use a fake name?
Honestly w/ Yumichika's kido skills and zampakuto abilities, he'd do much better on a different squad than 11, and we also get to see a glimpse of the war mentality he can get to have in a future. He's do much better under the command of someone like Kyoraku. Sadly he'd never leave Ikkaku's side.

squad 11 is basically made up of people with weapon type zampakuto if they have shikai that is and the use of kido is looked down upon cause again not physical in nature so he uses a false name that pisses of his zampakuto and makes it release in a fan/multi bladed form rather then its proper far superiorly powerful form that is more ''magical'' in nature@@olafharoldsonnii4713. He uses the true name once during his fight with the arrancar that got cut down by hitsugaya

Apparently in the novels, after Aizen was defeated, Central 46 put Mayuri on trial but they declared him not guilty, and the whole point of it was because they thought he would be more compliant if he "owed them".
I don't know if I can even think of another character like Mayuri. Someone who is overtly and profoundly evil, but is tolerated because he fights for the good guys. Like, he's less evil than he was, but that doesn't really say much.

Love the little extensions with Byakuya taking out those 3 Quincys back to back, just like Ichigo had against the Bambies Holy forms that wasn’t shown in the manga.
This wasn’t even a priority Ep yet they knew they had to go hard on it for the climax just like they did for EP 18, meaning these next 3 Eps (the last of which will be a high priority ep) are gonna be just like Eps 19-21, possibly even better, especially with the staff hyping it up. Bleach really said ANOTHER ONE.

It seems like people forget that Kisuke literally got this man Mayuri out of jail to come work for him with the promise he could take over if anything happened to him. Mayuri was content to stay in jail until he got that deal, that man has ALWAYS been a criminal so him acting criminally is in character for him.
Mayuri was actually in prison back when Urahara was a new captain; not for what he had done, but because of what they feared he was capable of.

According to Kubo’s Q&A, the reason Byakuya was immune to The Love was because the clothes he was wearing were made of Oken, and the Oken didn’t allow the power to pierce through. You could think of it like armor made of a special alloy
Mayuri was locked up way back when 😂. He was let out cuz he had so much potential.
Mayuri is interesting because despite having a f*cked up personality. The only other captain who feels/felt more responsibility and duty towards the Seireitei was Yamamoto.

This episode really showcased how powerful and dangerous Mayuri is when it comes to fighting people. He’s literally the ultimate mad scientist, and he has a win-con for almost anything. He’s basically Orochimaru on steroids. Giselle got a taste of ‘’her’’ own medicine when ‘’she’’ encountered him in a fight.

It was also good to see Byakuya go in and run through the fodder. Things are about to go even crazier now, Yhwach’s trio has arrived at the base of the Royal Palace. Bring on the madness! 🤘🏽

This psychopath once again proving why he's my 2nd favorite captain, right under Kenny. He's a mad scientist and I love me some mad scientists. They're so damn chaotic, and *always* make something interesting just by existing.
The loop is more similar to a Sharingan technique.
We don't talk enough about how Hitsugaya pops off in this episode. He holds back all the time, even against his enemies, because he's likely afraid of his own power, and he has no such compunctions as a zombie. Never mind how he obliterates Ikkaku and Yumichika, when do we EVER just see him freeze an ememy solid with a blast of diamond dust?

Ever since his fight with Ishida he comes to battle fully prep.
Mayuri saw someone committing war crimes and said "nah, I can do better."
Zombie Toshiro has exact same power as normal one, just none of his reservations.
The normal Toshiro always nerfs himself to prevent collateral damage. For example he makes a note to never use any of techniques he uses during shikai in bankai form because the area of effect would be too big. Likewise even in the fight with Harribel he was shown trying to focus his powers only in specific locations becauese otherwise his power would nab all the shinigami around too.
His power is canonically meant to be stronger than Rukia's alresdy very destructive bankai and it was already stated that he'd one day surpass Yamamoto's power. You know the dude eho might burn down entire ss if he uses his bankai too long.
Zombie Toshiro REALLY doesn't care about holding back against allies, enemies or even self-damage. Its Toshiro at maximum efficiency and honestly beyond the drug Mayuri used, likely would have been a HUGE problem.

Released Mayuri back then and made him captain when he got expelled, helped Isshin and ultimately made Ichigo being born a possibility, also helped the Vizards survive and adjust to the human world, helped Ichigo countless times (especially when Ichigo needs to jump between worlds), is still helping the society that expelled him just bc of misunderstandings, etc.

Mayuri is a menace to society but you can't complain about the results. Dude pretty much denied the entire zombie problem and turned it into an addition for their diminishing forces.
It'd be one thing if this was an ability but the fact that it's a drug is what baffles me. Whatever it's doing it's affecting the body, not reality itself. So I have a theory (and for context, I'll just call it the "Now" drug):
Whenever someone has this Now drug in their system, from the point of insertion the drug must send the brain into a sort of hyperactive state, tapping and melding both conscious and unconscious to create a sort of accelerated illusion world of how events may transpire or based on knowledge that they are aware of but forgotten. However, because these events are happening in the mind there is room for favoritism and error, and so victory, no matter the circumstance, is inevitable. However, once the brain processes the signals for "victory," there's a brief moment where the synapsis of the eyes regains consciousness and views the real now, and in that moment the drug activates again sending the brain back into another accelerated illusion.
It's sort of like the reverse of what Mayuri did to Espada 8, only instead of slowing things down the brain speeds things up, but in both cases, their minds are too far gone in either direction to contemplate the real now, thus trapping them in an illusion of their own minds (The power of perspective and the mind is awesome). The only difference (and probably saving grace) is that there's a limited amount of "nows" the drug can offer the mind before the paralyzes effect kicks in, and this snaps the brain back into the real now, otherwise they'd be doomed to "relive" those events and be imprisoned by their own mind for who knows how long.
From the subject/other person's perspective, they are reliving events, but for everyone else mere moments have passed as they have experienced multiple "nows."
Also: That love ability is bs and annoying as h--l, I'm glad that baby-back-b----d got put 6ft under. I also call bs that Byakuya's zonpakto gor controlled.

I like to imagine the things our military and spies have to do to protect the US and others. Heard stories about waterboarding and the people they did that to where men who did things like throw acid into women's faces because they were not wearing the traditional head dress, on top of being part of terrorist groups and having info to take from. I prefer that over doing nothing and not being ahead of the curve. We need ruthlessness every single day, thats how you get peaceful neighborhoods.
Mayuri is an unofficial special threat in my eyes. Also one of the few soul reapers I would say to run from if he appears.
