I love that they made it feel as if Kenpachi felt like a kid again when destroying the meteor. He seemed to be having the time of his life. Hands down the highlight of this episode, and the animation was awesome!
it's also showing how zaraki came back to his old self, back when he was a kid that didn't hold back on anyone and just enjoyed exerting his strength fully without suppressing his power
Keep in mind that this in just his Shikai he was able to destroy a meteor that could wipe out the Seireitei with his eyepatch on. Can’t imagine what a Bankai would be capable of.
I think it wasnt his own power that allowed him to wipe out the meteor, but the enemies mental image of him being a monster, which allowed it to happen in the first place?
Gremmy's power is basically when pre-schoolers play pretend and keep one-upping their powers. "My dinosaurs immortal" "Well my dinosaur can kill immortal dinosaurs."
How I felt when I read it. Visuals save the latter part of the war. Imagine if it looked like Seven Deadly Sins later seasons? JJK would and Chainsaw Man would still be good with normal looking animation.

Gremmy can't alter Kenpachi the same way he did with Yachiru. He can put Kenpachi in increasingly more ridiculous situations but Stronger spiritual pressure/energy cancels out hax abilities like how Soi fon couldn't kill Aizen with her shikai s ability.
Yes, he can gremmy only losses because is power back fire on her, because he as any life experience, he spend his life look up by yhwach on a special seal, the only person with he speak is the sternritter G.
If gremmy would’ve have more experience, I bet he would just imagine his reiatsu to be higher than kenpachi or the highest overrall, but his inexperience made him make the mistake of not only unconsciously creating a monster on his head, but also replicating and using kenpachi’s power not knowing how his body would react to it. His power is an double edge sword, since you could become close to Omnipotent by being able to imagine anything but can also be the complete opposite and make your opponent omnipotent. Gremmy could’ve harden his body or teleport far away when he tried to trap kenpachi in space, or also possibly making more gremmy’s and further multiplying his imagination even further. In theory he could’ve infinitely made himself over and over again since all it takes to make one is another one of himself. So much potential and such a way to nerf it lol

I think it was more so gremmy wanting to prove himself to Kenny that he could defeat him as he was because if he was just to kill kenpachi by imagining him dead, then that would defeat the purpose of gremmy proving to himself that he was the strongest.

The Visionary is probably limitless, but the way it can be used it limited. Also if he said he wanted every soul reaper dead, he would probably need to be able to name every soul reaper. It like in Fate how the Holy Grail only does things in the way you think it will. If you want to remove or get rid of evil, the only way for that to happened would be in the on way you know how, and in Kiritsugu's case, it was killing all evil-doers. If Gremmy wanted to create a universe, he would need to be able to name every star, planet, asteroid, etc inside of said universe before he could create it. So in creating a meteor would already be a problem, on top of the fact that he has to be actively thinking about it. So if he creates clones, he needs to think about the clone he created and whatever else. But like you said, if he thinks about something like I wanna die or i'm going to die then he will die.
So that's not exactly what happened. Gremmy couldn't imagine a body that was capable of fighting on par with Kenpachi's because he couldn't subconsciously imagine something stronger than Kenpachi at that point in the fight.

Its cutting power is greatly enhanced, allowing Kenpachi to effortlessly cut through the bodies of his opponents and even through meteor and space itself. Regarding the title of the episode, Unohana back in Episode 10: “During our battle, we both experienced a sense of joy such as we’d never felt. The difference was, you found joy fighting on the Edge, instead of fighting to win, you learned that fighting me, and that is my sin. Everyone you’d ever met had been weaker than you. You had run out of enemies to test your sword against. Until you met me. I was the first opponent you’d ever encountered who could rival your power. But only rival it” And now the same happens here. Gremmy is what happens when you give a Child the mind of God (Soul King) He probably could’ve imagined Kenpachi out of existence but aside from the lack of spiritual pressure, he wanted to test him out and beat him fair and square, as well as break down his hope and spirits. Last episode was simply a priority, but this as well as the next and finale (Ep 26) are high priority ones.
Shikai activations are proportional. Base Kenpachi was already stronger than most Captains in bankai. His shikai bump puts him far out of reach of any shinigami not in the Zero Division apart from Ichigo and Aizen.

I doubt it considering how stupidly he used his powers. Someone with that ability could have killed Kenpachi in a thousand ways, if he didn't it's because 1) he's stupid or 2) his ability doesn't negate durability, so how much it can affect someone depends on that person's strength.
This ritter has one of the most absolutely broken abilities in bleach or all of anime, nearly limitless potential... but of course he had to meet against the monster Kenpachi. He was never winning the plot battle 💀
I forget where I read that he was feared by his allies, imprisoned and stunted growth, and untrained due to fear of his broken power. It literally was a fight between two children, one using imagination and another with physicality.

You can't just kill off a character with the ability of imagination, but you can't also keep them alive because they could literally end the show by fixing every problem in it, a living Deus ex Machina for the protagonist (and I would know cuz I'm struggling with such character ) And I'm not saying the ability of imagination is bad itself, I'm saying Gremmys use and how Kubo portrayed it.

When it came to Gremmy and his power to turn anything he imagined into reality. So I missed it during the first play through but when I rewatched the episode the first interaction between him and Kenpachi, he made the comment that Kenpachi is as strong as he imagined. So i think that was the foreshadowing of itself that led to his downfall. He already imagined him to be extremely strong despite of Kenpachi not doing a thing

Unfortunately they’ll never do that because just look at bleach. Kubo had problems with how some aspects of the story where changed or omitted so when bleach was near the end of soul society they told Kubo the where going to do a filler arc before the arrancar arc. He did not like this and begged for bleach to go seasonal because he felt a long filler arc could mess up the story’s pacing. His request was denied and he had to settle for being able to review scripts for canons episodes.

Yeah, the ones that do keep it in because they catch the significance, and the ones that leave it out don't. MiddleGuy read the manga so I assume he knows but won't spoil it for the others by bringing extra attention to it. Or he forgot.
Remember Rukia didn't know what juice boxes were. I think Kenpachi didn't know what a cookie was because soul reapers in general are out of touch with stuff made in the world of the living.
Nah, he absolutely could. Schrift effects cant really be negated by just flexing reiatsu. The fight is set up in such a way that Kenpachi challenges Gremmy to imagine something capable of killing him and Gremmy accepts. Gremmy quickly became inspired by Zaraki's strength and began to enjoy himself. He could kill Kenpachi with a thought but willingly chose not too until he ran out of reishi and died.
Op is correct , Aizen explains every fight in Bleach is a battle of spiritual pressure. Zaraki’s is too high which is why Gremmy calls him a monster. Giselle has a similar problem when she tries to make people her zombies if their sp is too high
Gremmy can’t kill Zaraki because at the start of the fight he imagined Zaraki to be as strong as the rumour. He planted an imagination of Zaraki can’t be affected by the cookie thing from the start.

When you remember ....kenoachi has been cutting enemies and stuff with a broken blunt sword. (Imagine if it was actually sharp) That's why HE is the edge
a big thing with this is about confidence, every time he imagines the enemy being a monster or strong, they are. he imagined himself losing instead of being confident. how it works irl too, people who are confident tend to have better outcomes.
Bringing imagination to reality has its limits. In the mind, it is infinitely times more powerful than what you see now, but even in the physical world, it is not to be underestimated. That said, if it's brought *from* the mind *to* reality, then it has to follow certain rules or restrictions, since the outside world isn't as freeing as one's inner domain; and those weaknesses are the crack in this super armor of such a power like this. The thing about imagination is that everyone has it, so in reality (whatever that word may apply to in this case) imagination is a clash of wills, like all fights are. The only massive difference here is whether or not you become shackled to limits and ignore your own self-discovery, self-worth, and self-potential. To simplify think of this riddle/question (quoted/said by me): "Only the imaginationless fear those with imagination. But if all are human, if all have blood, bone, and bodies, if all are made equal in principle, then how can one who has imagination be afraid of someone else who has imagination?" The answer- Because the imaginationless don't use it.
the best part about this episode is how its really a battle of the minds, Kenpachi already views himself as the strongest so much so that he's etched it into is very being (psychologically) so when someone who's main power is his mind it really just became Kenpachi phyching him out which was the key. No matter what the world says its how YOU view yourself. The moment Gremmy believed Kenpachi was stronger than him was the moment he lost. It really shows just how powerful mindset can be. I AM THE EDGE = IM THE BEST THERE IS POINT BLANK PERIOD
In the manga it actually shows like named characters reaction to the meteor, I wish they kept those in. Seeing the Stern Ritter freak out and say they should’ve kept Gremmy locked up, and everybody fully convinced that they were gonna die, Stern Ritters and Shinigami alike💀
What was revealed in this episode are things I was hoping and waiting for years to see come to life. It was cool to see Yachiru in action and since day one I’ve said it, Kenpachi Zaraki is the GOAT! The fight itself and being able to see the panels animated was beyond tremendous. The visuals of him cutting the meteor and transitioning into his younger self was beautiful. He finally called out Nozarashi’s name and we were finally able to see that glorious Shikai! What a beast and he hasn’t even taken the eyepatch off. I just want to see Kenpachi destroy everyone 🤘🏽 I cannot wait to see what’s coming.
One thing that was missing in the episode from manga if i remember correctly when the meteor was falling down, everyone in Seireitei, Shinigami and even the Quincii were like ,,oh shit...this is problem"

Its a blink and you'll miss it scene but in the flash back when kenpachi tells yachiru where she comes from she taps on the sword. Subtlety but confirming that yachiru is kenpachis sword spirit.
gremmy Imagination is based on his own power level, he cant just imagine blowing up kenpachi because he would need the power to do for it to be imagined same way he cant jsut imagine the world ending.
I think what Tite Kubo is saying with this fight is that having the will to try against all odds is far superior than getting what you want because only by accepting the risk of failure can you overcome the unknown.
Regarding the cookie confusion: I don't blame you for forgetting, but these captains are basically still living in feudal Japan. There were no "cookies" in Japan back then. Cookies were introduced to Japan less than 100 years ago.

The Visionary is probably limitless, but the way it can be used it limited. Also if he said he wanted every soul reaper dead, he would probably need to be able to name every soul reaper. It like in Fate how the Holy Grail only does things in the way you think it will. If you want to remove or get rid of evil, the only way for that to happened would be in the on way you know how, and in Kiritsugu's case, it was killing all evil-doers. If Gremmy wanted to create a universe, he would need to be able to name every star, planet, asteroid, etc inside of said universe before he could create it. So in creating a meteor would already be a problem, on top of the fact that he has to be actively thinking about it. So if he creates clones, he needs to think about the clone he created and whatever else. But like you said, if he thinks about something like I wanna die or i'm going to die then he will die.

So that's not exactly what happened. Gremmy couldn't imagine a body that was capable of fighting on par with Kenpachi's because he couldn't subconsciously imagine something stronger than Kenpachi at that point in the fight.

He probably could’ve imagined Kenpachi out of existence but aside from the lack of spiritual pressure, he wanted to test him out and beat him fair and square, as well as break down his hope and spirits.
Last episode was simply a priority, but this as well as the next and finale (Ep 26) are high priority ones.
Kenpachi getting a Shikai at this stage is like if Naruto got promoted to Chuunin in the middle of the Shinobi War arc.

Shikai activations are proportional. Base Kenpachi was already stronger than most Captains in bankai. His shikai bump puts him far out of reach of any shinigami not in the Zero Division apart from Ichigo and Aizen.

I forget where I read that he was feared by his allies, imprisoned and stunted growth, and untrained due to fear of his broken power. It literally was a fight between two children, one using imagination and another with physicality.

Imagine him giving Gremmy the misfortune of not being able to use his powers, he's done.
You can't just kill off a character with the ability of imagination, but you can't also keep them alive because they could literally end the show by fixing every problem in it, a living Deus ex Machina for the protagonist (and I would know cuz I'm struggling with such character )
And I'm not saying the ability of imagination is bad itself, I'm saying Gremmys use and how Kubo portrayed it.

When it came to Gremmy and his power to turn anything he imagined into reality. So I missed it during the first play through but when I rewatched the episode the first interaction between him and Kenpachi, he made the comment that Kenpachi is as strong as he imagined. So i think that was the foreshadowing of itself that led to his downfall. He already imagined him to be extremely strong despite of Kenpachi not doing a thing
Despite being it obvious by the end, I think a lot of people missed the Brain vs Brawn theme of this fight. They're literally the epitome of it.

Unfortunately they’ll never do that because just look at bleach. Kubo had problems with how some aspects of the story where changed or omitted so when bleach was near the end of soul society they told Kubo the where going to do a filler arc before the arrancar arc. He did not like this and begged for bleach to go seasonal because he felt a long filler arc could mess up the story’s pacing. His request was denied and he had to settle for being able to review scripts for canons episodes.

like, 90% of the reactions I've seen for this ep skip over the part where Yachiru touches Kenpachi's sword after he asks where she came from. It's kind of one of the most important parts of the episode.

Nah, he absolutely could. Schrift effects cant really be negated by just flexing reiatsu. The fight is set up in such a way that Kenpachi challenges Gremmy to imagine something capable of killing him and Gremmy accepts.
Gremmy quickly became inspired by Zaraki's strength and began to enjoy himself. He could kill Kenpachi with a thought but willingly chose not too until he ran out of reishi and died.

Gremmy can’t kill Zaraki because at the start of the fight he imagined Zaraki to be as strong as the rumour. He planted an imagination of Zaraki can’t be affected by the cookie thing from the start.

Bringing imagination to reality has its limits. In the mind, it is infinitely times more powerful than what you see now, but even in the physical world, it is not to be underestimated. That said, if it's brought *from* the mind *to* reality, then it has to follow certain rules or restrictions, since the outside world isn't as freeing as one's inner domain; and those weaknesses are the crack in this super armor of such a power like this. The thing about imagination is that everyone has it, so in reality (whatever that word may apply to in this case) imagination is a clash of wills, like all fights are. The only massive difference here is whether or not you become shackled to limits and ignore your own self-discovery, self-worth, and self-potential.
To simplify think of this riddle/question (quoted/said by me):
"Only the imaginationless fear those with imagination. But if all are human, if all have blood, bone, and bodies, if all are made equal in principle, then how can one who has imagination be afraid of someone else who has imagination?"

the best part about this episode is how its really a battle of the minds, Kenpachi already views himself as the strongest so much so that he's etched it into is very being (psychologically) so when someone who's main power is his mind it really just became Kenpachi phyching him out which was the key. No matter what the world says its how YOU view yourself. The moment Gremmy believed Kenpachi was stronger than him was the moment he lost.

What was revealed in this episode are things I was hoping and waiting for years to see come to life. It was cool to see Yachiru in action and since day one I’ve said it, Kenpachi Zaraki is the GOAT! The fight itself and being able to see the panels animated was beyond tremendous. The visuals of him cutting the meteor and transitioning into his younger self was beautiful. He finally called out Nozarashi’s name and we were finally able to see that glorious Shikai! What a beast and he hasn’t even taken the eyepatch off. I just want to see Kenpachi destroy everyone 🤘🏽 I cannot wait to see what’s coming.
One thing that was missing in the episode from manga if i remember correctly when the meteor was falling down, everyone in Seireitei, Shinigami and even the Quincii were like ,,oh shit...this is problem"

I think what Tite Kubo is saying with this fight is that having the will to try against all odds is far superior than getting what you want because only by accepting the risk of failure can you overcome the unknown.
Regarding the cookie confusion: I don't blame you for forgetting, but these captains are basically still living in feudal Japan. There were no "cookies" in Japan back then. Cookies were introduced to Japan less than 100 years ago.
