    Thanks for this. Thanks for your honesty. I have done every diet under the sun. Low carb too. The low carb had good results but it is not sustainable long term for me. I came to plant based, little to no oil, WHOLE plant foods and such as the main staples of my diet. It is so EASY. It takes a little more time but it is the one I can stick to endlessly.

    This is helpful. May need to tweak my vegan diet so it's more whole foods rather than processed. Been on a vegan diet for two years and reversed some symptoms which was dramatic enough for me to continue Dr. Neil Bernard's 21 day challenge. Would like the blood sugar levels to go down though.

    • @burntherest9118
      @burntherest9118 9 месяцев назад +2

      Less carb/refined sugar-heavy foods would probably help with that, as our bodies breakdown most carbohydrates into sugars. Coconut sugar and agave tend to have a lower glycemic index and don’t spike blood sugar levels. And congrats on the health improvements! I’m glad you chose to continue with a plant based diet. ☺️

      @@SkyRiver1 I’m a chick. But you really can’t escape sugar. At least not foods with naturally occurring sugar, such as fruits. But it would obviously be the best option to stay away from all other sugar, but that can be difficult for many. Start small first.

      I gave up processed sugars and just started eating fruit instead. I buy frozen blueberries, let them thaw in a bowl and put on top of toast instead of sugar-based jams. Eating thawed blueberries on toast is way more delicious and is totally satisfying. Give up the processed sugars, and enjoy how sweet fruit is!

    One caveat is that there is more and more junk food being pumped out now in vegan diets. I know some people who had high sugar. Not sure as to why, could he alcohol consumption perhaps, but they were also eating beyond/impossible like every day and had to go back to Whole Foods to bring it back down.

    We certainly had similar experience trying each of those very diets and did plenty of research en route. Our issues are different but similar findings. I had hypoglycemia much of my life, likely may have been pre-diabetic.
    I still think concerns about post meal blood sugar is still misunderstood. It’s actually normal for there to be a spike. It’s just insulin doing it’s job. We started, left, then returned to Macrobiotic diet precisely bc its adjusted to each person’s needs ~ especially emphasizing regional, seasonal foods. I think whole grains and vegetables are the most balancing foods, but some people need to transition slowly. Overall interesting to see others have gone thru a similar dietary adventure!

    What took him 15 years to figure out and achieve, I did in 3 months loosing 40 lbs, reversing pre diabetes, high blood pressure and i did it eating meat, fish, eggs and low glycemic vegetables like brocolli and fruit like avocado with a ratio of 60/30/10 fat/protein/carbs. 2 years later im still maintaining my ideal weight and it sure the hell didnt include grain or processed garbage.

    Wow just now seeing Joe best on this channel after not seeing him around in many many years. I was watching certain vegan and raw foodists years ago. I remember eating a ton of fruit and really loving it having energy at some points and sometimes being very tired. I can relate to what Joe is talking about here. Oh my gosh yes I remember all this 30 bananas a day, raw till 4:00... But You got to have a lot of greens. I follow a lot of how Markus Rothkranz eats...

  • @kat4animals004

    It's so wild I got caught up in the raw food lifestyle and although I was never 100% raw I did eat very high raw and I felt good for a good period of time although they were definite times where I would get tired after a big meal of fruit. In the vegan community years ago people were trying all kinds of things. I never went to the Woodstock fruit festival but I watched a ton of videos of people being there and I wanted to go. So many people there and they were living the high raw high fruit lifestyle. Many now have not stayed with that lifestyle or at least not completely. I agree with Joe that it's just not sustainable for everybody to eat a high raw food diet. Thanks for this video!

      It depends on how insulin resistant you are. It can be hard to get over the innitial blood sugar highs. But if you are newly diabetic then its a good option. But longer term diabetics need to skip the starch and eat above ground vegetables.

    • @Bookish_Lattes
      @Bookish_Lattes 9 месяцев назад +1

      I am 5 years T2D free, so long term it's improved my health exponentially. Science does not go against whole food plants. Science goes against meats and dairy. People are sick and dying from meat-related products, meat that are carcinogens. Drs tell you to eat fruits and veg for your health. Plants provide a lot of protein.
